The shorter curly haired girl had been in love with the guy for years and he basically friendzones her, but doesn't really turn down her advances, so they exist in kind of a limbo state where they're friends with the potential of maybe being more, but then the other girl gets introduced and he falls in love with her. But because the two girls are friends the taller girl feels uncomfortable with pursuing anything with the guy and feels like she unintentionally may have caused a rift between the guy and the shorter girl.
