I'm back! I'm taking a look at the hole snow bros series. Starting from it's first game on arcades, the ports, it's sequel, all the way up to the remake.
I found this video between rounds of watching RA3 tournament replays, cat videos and some guy making a marble clock. Not sure how I ended up here, but I'm glad I did, this was pretty fun!
So glad to see someone talk about Snow Bros 2 and praise it so highly. My aunt and uncle had an Ultracade at their lake house, and Snow Bros 2, 1941, and Mega Man: TPB were always our favorites.
The Genesis port of Snow bros was one of my first favorite games since I was a child. I still consider it as such since then. Thanks for your deep dive into it :)) I'm glad to keep learning things about this series, even to this day!
I've always been interested in this series so watching this video was a treat. I need to check it out myself, and now I know NOT to go with the remake. Great job!
The genesis port was one of the games me and my bro used to play quite often by emulating it, i remember it fondly We got the switch remake and had mixed views on it, mostly with the visuals and the arcade only ost, since we grew and (it's objectively agreed upon) loved the genesis version of it BUT SB2 IS GETTING BACK?!!! WOOOO
Damn, now I actually wanna try Snow Bros. I’ll of course stick with emulation since there’s no way I’m getting ahold of a genuine Genesis cart. Then again all I own to play it on is an AtGames Genesis so maybe it’s for the best.
@@hyperness3112 got lucky and found it for $7.99. I mean it’s still a horrible dumpster fire and I plan to get the real deal soon, but $7.99 is much less of a rip off than the full 40 they went for new.
bro, the new bosses don't fit?? Did you see the bosses of the second game?? a big-nosed train, a trumpeter dancing rabbit, and a friccin' mechanical sun xD how a ninja dog, a trio of sirens or a cockatrice don't fit? The new bosses are good because at least I always saw the world of Snow Bros as a world of elves, fairies and other creatures (even if the elves are only in the title of the sequel), but they never reach the cliché of a DnD world, this is a crazy and inconsistent world. Not only are they inconsistent from one port to the other, even in the artistic section they are, on the title screens the characters look different than they do in the cutscenes or in the game sprites xD My point is, that is the least of the problems, for me Snow Bros is a chaotic and crazy saga that enjoys being like that hahaha By the way, where I live this is not an obscure game, this is one of those games everybody played at least once, and one that cannot be missing in any arcade ❤️
I also found the remake to be really lacking, there's so many problems on it that really harms the experience. inconsistent hitboxes, infinite continues means the life system is useless, the biggest addition being locked behind paid dlc, missed oportunity on not adding online multiplayer, the new stages dont fit the theme of the game, etc. but the biggest problem for me is the lack of a save feature, it was understandable on the retro platforms up until the sega genesis but for modern platforms thats one of the big mistakes a game can make. I know the game is short, but not everyone has the patience or time to restart from the beggining all over again when they had to quit a playsession just because they didnt had the time to finish the game in 1 sit. they also missed the mark on not including the extra content from the gameboy and sega genesis versions in the package.

Wow that’s crazy, glad you liked it.😊
2:12 as a kid I always liked that background with the princess, it looks very eerie and gloomy

My God, a non-Rayman video, we're entering a new era, people!

Rest in peace toaplan i miss you so much
I’m the U.S.A’s biggest Snow Bros fan. I wake up in a cold sweat thinking about how I don’t own the Snow Bros property
Nice introduction to the series! Wonder what kind of other obscure franchises you'll tackle?
IMPASTABLE, A SNOW BROS VIDEO IN 2024?
Love your thumbnails also why dont you have many views?
I don’t know, I just assumed videos get views over time. Then again I reviewed a game that no one really plays.
Great vid as usual

There is actually in development a remake of Snow Bros 2 on Switch :D
Its made by the same who remaked Snow Bros 1

You should do more games
You missed Snow Bros. 3 😊
I have a question, by been a Snow Bros fan, what snow abilities do you want to have?
Oh yes, I know that guy! I think they call him... Lame-Man?
*sad music*

My guy why do you have a genesis from AtGames☠️. But yeah I don’t blame you for using emulator.

@@hyperness3112oh I found it for only $7.99, dumpster fire or not that’s the only way I’d ever willingly buy a Shatgames product.
Oh ok $8 bucks isn’t so bad, you got me worried for a second. Also I’m not sure why I have the comments on hold, it should be turn off.

you dont get infinite continues for nes version
its 9 continues of 3 lives.
Oh dang really? I guess I didn’t pay attention to the life counter. Thanks for bringing that up.

Man, that Switch reboot looks like it was just animated with AI/a cheap looking mobile game, that's pretty fucking embarrassing; good video tho, man
that subpar snow bros. remake reminds me of that kinda crappy earthworm jim remake that was on xbla lmao
