    If your washing machine or dishwasher is far enough away from your sink then the standard waste pipe that comes with your appliance may not reach the drain spigot. So what do you do in this situation? You extend your washing machine drain pipe, but how to do it?
    Well, this video has a really simple way to make your washing machine drain pipe longer without the need for any special tools, you just need the extension kit and a screwdriver!

    • @TheBlokeCave

      The pipes are usually a standard size, the connector can be hard to squeeze in sometimes, if it looks like it might fit then maybe try lubricating it with something.

    I just done this today on a new washing machine, it's not holding the water, spirts out every time the washer drains.

      This just doss not work at all for dishwasher outlets, particularly the Bosch countertop dishwasher I was trying to connect up.
      I've heard putting the end in boiling water can help
      But for me, the hose just does NOT go on the 17mm connector as shown in the video, boiling water, twisting, or none of that: it just won't. You have to buy a new hose.

    I want my washing machine at the other side of my kitchen maybe 4m away from sink is it possible

    • @TheBlokeCave
      @TheBlokeCave  Před 3 lety

      yes it is definitely possible. You will just need to make sure you can get the water supply and drainage over to it.
      You will want to use some PVC pipe, mounted to the wall, with a consistent drop for the drain. If you use a hose just left on the floor over that distance you will probably get problems with stagnant water and therefore nasty smells.

    As a ground floor flat owner, I would feel extremely uncomfortable if my neighbours above were connecting up waste hoses in this way. Surely a single pipe linking the pump to the drain should be highlighted here as the best solution? This looks like a temporary solution at best. Poor safety practice, too. No-one should be putting that much force on a screwdriver pointing in the direction of a bare hand.

    • @pdids8947
      @pdids8947 Před 8 měsíci +1

      A brand new hose is always the best solution. Having two potential leak points is always better than having 4. But I work in maintenance and honestly connection points like these are never the issue.
      The hose itself is just as likely to develop a hole randomly as it is likely that it would leak out of these connections. (Literally the issue I'm dealing with now)
      and to replace the entire hose means completely uninstalling and reinstalling the entire dishwasher basically
      I work in a big apartment complex, and the last 6 or 7 years, have had zero leak from connections like to these, they've all been from the supply side water lines or from the pump itself.
      You should be worried about the supply side water line as that can run continuously until the end of time lol while the drain line he's repairing can only pump out whats in the machine.
      Being worried about someone using this above you is like worrying a plumber used plumbers tape (I've had tenants worry about this lol) it's a tool to do their job safely.
      In regards to how he's using the tool, yes this is unsafe, I've stabbed myself a good 3-4 times before switching to a socket to tighten them (the flat heads are brutal/dangerous and require a lot of force to tighten properly)
