    One of my most hated jobs. I don't really know why. Inner ones outer ones . Even the easy outer ones like the old passat , A6. But as always, when it needs to be done it needs to be done. Nice video Luis.

    Love to watch you Luis with diagnostic work which you are awesome at but equally appreciate the mechanical side of work too. Great job Luis! Hey did you know brake parts clean affects your neural cells just heard from another mechanic! Fyi.

    Good video & not too much waffle. Would like to have seen more detail about securing the cv boot clips & what type of tool to use for this

    It might have been easier to have left the main body of the inner cv connected in the diff and just drawn the shaft out of it. That way there would be no chance of any oil loss👍

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 2 lety

      Possibly... a bit awkward doing it like that on the floor... but definitely a possibility...
      As shown, the oil loss was negligible...
      Thank you for watching and for your comment!

    if you jack the car up to the top of the jack it normally tilts the gearbox just enough to not lose oil

    Luis, I can't fault your method. There is a special tool for fitting CV boot clips. I got mine from Amazon. A pair of pincers will do the job just as well as you've shown. A torn inner CV boot as not an MoT failure as far as I'm aware but I think it is as important as the outer one. I had to replace the inner CV boot on a 2008 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso and all I had to do to separate the joint was to yank it out. It sometimes separates when you try to pull out the entire driveshaft. Was the slow crank anything to do with the broken earth strap?

      Thus is not something I do that often, the only reason I never bought any tools to install these boots... who know in the future I will might invest in one...
      👍👍👍

    I have just done a drive shaft on the same car but forgot to fit that big circlip back in! The car drives just fine and no sign of any issues, do you think it will cause a problem later on?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 2 lety

      The one inside the CV joint?
      Probably not... but I would plan to get it fitted...

      @@LMAutoRepairs Yes the larger clip that goes inside. The smaller clip that holds the bearings in place was fitted, cheers for your reply!

    Thanks for the video, but it really seems a bit pointless when you show such little detail.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 2 lety +1

      I believed I showed the important parts and explained the little things I didn't show...
      If you beleieve this is not enough to get this done, better to leave it for someone who knows how to...
      What details did I missed?
      Remove nuts and bolts?
      I can always try to get more in depth, but will make more long videos... either way, impossible to please everyone, and perhaps this middle ground is acceptable for both...
      I think...🤔
      Thank you for watching and for your comment!

    Hi What were those pliers called that you use to tighten up the clip on the boot ?

    • @LMAutoRepairs

      CV boot clamp pliers....
      If I am not mistaken!

    Why not change the whole axle? If dirt is after getting into the joint it won’t last long either way and those boots aren’t far off the price of a cv joint.
