    Always thought Sir Henry Cecil and Charlie Whittingham from America were the 2 finest natural, God-gifted "horsemen" I've ever seen and I've followed this sport on a world wide basis for some 30 years now. Funny thing is Sir Henry always referred to the brilliant French trainer, Andre Fabre, as "God", so I think that nickname speaks to the respect that Sir Henry had for him also. Sir Henry was a true giant of the sport that sadly left us far too soon.

    The 80's for me were the most competitive for me. Big stables always with quality horses. Cecil, Stoute, Hern, Harwood to name but a few all kept it so competitive and a sprinkle of smaller trainers with the odd bit of top quality now and again.
