- Today is my first full day in Hargeisa Somaliland and I have no plans, no destination, and no guide.
My only plan is to have no plan.
I just want to get lost on the streets and alley ways in Somaliland. Let destiny lead me in the right direction.
Follow me for my walk through Somaliland!
Add me on Instagram at / chrismustlist and say hello.
Thanks for watching today’s video.,
Chris

I live in Toronto, and visited Somaliland , Hargeisa last year and stayed for a week. I found it to be highly are friendly, safe and affordable. The people are honest and kind

Chris thank you for visiting Somaliland we are happy to have you I'm so sorry you didn't have someone to show you around Insha Allah next time bro
My husband lives in Hargeisa, say hi to him there.....he loves that place alot...we are kenyans
I like how proud are these people to show their peaceful country to the world.
Mr.Cris we invite you to visit us in Bosaso, not so far from Hargeysa.
It is far
@37:45 Chris 90% of the city of Hargeisa was destroyed and reduced to rubble during the 1988 air bombardments by Somalia military. Many diaspora have returned to the city in the last decade so the country is rapidly rebuilding and inshallah just a matter of time until you see more buildings being built

Why do you guys not want to be a part of somalia ?? Pure curiosity.
@Alperen Baytimur u need to learn the history of the horn of Africa first before ur curiosity
@@alperenbaytimur somalia and somaliland were always two different countries conolzied by the british and Italians..when these Europeans left and gained Independence somaliland was a country on it's own so was somalia..4 or so days later they both joined into a union of forming 1 country called somalia..but after some 30 years together somaliland wasnt getting any development and was being left out in the cold..so the people in somaliland decided enough was enough and want their country back but the president at that time wasnt having it so he unleashed a brutal campaign to wipe out the people in somaliland as well as their cities..which he did killing thousands and flatting the cities...then a somali group was formed to fight back..within some years they drove the somalia army out and got their country back...Somaliland has a stand alone country was back..but the cities were a mess and mines everywhere..so they clean up and rebuilding started..today somaliland is one of the safest and fasting growing country in that region..we are not recognized as a independent country but who cares..we got our country back and we live in peace...the people of somaliland does not hate the people of somalia..we are brothers and share the same religion and culture we are somali people after all..but somaliland wants to stand alone..there is enough land for everyone in both countries..we hope for peace in somalia ❤
@@alperenbaytimur Really you have to stop being ignorant, know the history of Somaliland and Somalia.
Chris I love the way you go about things, you are kind and brave. Thank you for feeding street children.
this is Somaliland, it is a country that has gone through many problems caused by the government of Somalia before it broke up, it is a country where its people have seen war, rape, murder, robbery, colonialism and genocide. It is a country where the government of Somalia committed many violations that are still felt today. Before 1981, the people of Somaliland decided to defend themselves from the enemy who killed their people and massacred them for a long time. They formed an organization called S.N.M and fought against the strong government of Somalia, and finally they managed to defend themselves from the hostile government of Somalia. When the Somali government removed them from the land they lived in, they announced that they had separated from Somalia. When they declared independence on May 18, 1991, they established their own government, named it the Republic of Somaliland, and elected a leader elected by the people. Somaliland has had 5 presidents elected by the people. The current president of the country is Muse Bihi Abdi who was one of the fighters of S.N.M. Today, Somaliland is 32 years old and has not yet received the recognition and support it deserves from the world. Somaliland is the safest country in Africa, there is no problem like Somalia's unstable government, many people may think that Somaliland and Somalia are the same but that is wrong, they are not the same but two countries. and different. . . . They have built everything together for 32 years, and there is no one else to support them, they deserve international recognition. Finally, we welcome anyone who wants to see with his own eyes that Somaliland is very different from Somalia. I welcome you if you want to visit Somaliland, thank you😍😍

Thank you so much 😀
Chris I have only just picked up watching your channel. I cant stop watching, I am fixed for a few reasons. I am a world traveler, have travelled to over 100 countries in my lifetime and intend to travel more. there are three tenants i follow ,
move under the radar (don't attract attention or bring it on to others), dress minimal and neutral
communicate but dont annunciate and keep your private business to yourself, be discreet which means don't show you carry money or come from it
Travel with someone else, even if you are on your own get a guide. if not just someone to watch your back
With all due respect sir I worry for your safety, i know that is part of this adventure travel but what concerns me is you are in places the locals would hesitate even go. I am on edge watching as you traverse through these areas that are so potentially volatile we have seen many examples in the short essay times you have shown.
Thats all, love what you are doing and like you enough to be a bit concerned but watch intently because of it
Have a wonderful Christmas, safe home and on after
Cheers, a fellow Torontonian

FYI - Somali people don't like when you record them at their place of business, especially in the capital Mogadishu. Groups like Al Shabab are pretty tech savvy and will use footage and social media to target businesses and individuals for extortion and attacks. They jump like the camera is a gun because its dangerous
I understand. These people that were upset at the market during this video thought I worked with the government. When I said youTube they all got happy and wanted my channel name.
This is old school thought and lack of exposure. Educating other people's on other people's cultures is not a crime. Second, you are making money out of this. It a source of employment. TRUE or True?

@@ChrisMustList Smh - its such a shame that they have to worry so much but I'm glad you've had such a good response! Yeah you came from Mogadishu such a harsh place to be, somaliland .. their still Somali’s it’s like when Quebec wanted to separate from the rest of Canada , but the difference is in Quebec their a French speaking province .. in somaliland they speak somali , eat the same foods . Only difference is the tribe lol. P.s a lot of Somalis are mad at you for video taping all the bad sides of Mogadishu aswhile as filming that poor mother and her children . I don’t think it’s your fault Somalis should feel bad about how the country became and not blame others when stuff like that are brought to light
I thought it was great that he visited this mother, because in Mogadishu many families have to live the same way as this very dear mother and her sweet children. Some travel bloggers have traveled to Mogadishu but have only ever shown the standard like Lido Beach. I'm sure he's really interested in the culture and how people live there
