17 Devices - In the Hall of the Mountain King
Vložit
- čas přidán 22. 12. 2020
- In the Hall of the Mountain King played by 17 electronic devices. The orchestra consists of 7 electric toothbrushes, 7 credit card machines, two steam irons and one electric typewriter.
Edvard Grieg composed In the Hall of the Mountain King in 1875 for a play called Peer Gynt. My version for 17 devices is similar to the original composition. Due to technical limitations, I needed to make this video a multi-screen music video and record each device one by one.

Now I want a remake of the Imperial toaster but with the full orchestra
A resounding YES!
No, I want it with just a lot of toasters
Good news: most likely gonna happen soon.
Actually, I'm going to remake a video in January. I have a poll about the song on Patreon and Imperial March is currently leading the poll with 57%. So it's looking like we really may see an Imperial March remake soon! 😊
@@DeviceOrchestra YES!!!
More like in the Hall of the Mouthwash King.
Lmao
Here, take my like
If you’ve seen Call me Kevin before, you know I have to do it
More like...more like Bore ragnarok
@@musicofthememe7808 More like finding borey!
@@dwarflanternsharkfriend6713 lol
Now that is a real Device Orchestra.
The typewriter at the end... that was really funny.
By the way, I think the yellow toothbrush should see an eye doctor. One of the eyes seems to have a problem.
Thank you! 😀Slowly growing the orchestra bigger and bigger. 😊
And you are right! Looks like we need an operation... 🤔
@@DeviceOrchestra Be careful. Having a crying toothbrush doesn't sound very pleasant. Needs some proper pain killers.
Indeed
which eye do you mean the one not moving or the moving one
The typewriter at the end IS hilarious
I love how these videos are becoming more Muppets-esque with each addition. I almost expect to see Gonzo conducting at this point.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
This really *does* seem like an act Gonzo would come up with, doesn't it?
This man must have some really clean teeth with all those toothbrushes
Or very dirty ones because none are free to use for that purpose.
@@benbaselet2026
Hahaha, I was about to say that
He doesn't use them for brushing his teeth. If he did he'd for sure choke on a googly eye one day.
Yeah, anjagoller is right. I use a manual toothbrush for my teeth.
@@DeviceOrchestra But would be kinda fun to just try it once to see what it's like to brush your teeth with a toothbrush playing a melody.
I think if I did it I would laugh so hard that I'd inhale some toothpaste and end up coughing very badly.
That beige receipt printer was scared, so it immediately covered it's eyes with paper 😛
same tbh
Other credit card machines were stress eating before the big performance, and threw up on stage.
When the tempo increases 🔥
Imagine you need to buy Christmas presents but you haven't any money, so you have to go to the store at night to steal something. You open the door, enter the shop and suddenly this starts playing...
If that happens then I willingly turn myself in.
BOSS BATTLE TIME
You VS ... the machines!
FIGHT!
* Boss battle music starts * 0:08
You are trying your best to fight! The machines have taken the upper hand! 1:52
You have lost!
The police next day find your mangled body on the counter.
The cashier machine says: Thank you for shopping, Y/N (Your Name)/
@@kichukmenon Lol 😂😂
I think, I would switched - off local electricity supply, before I could rushed in that shop at least in semi- safe mode, LOL! May be, I chose other shop, what is not full of :living" electricity - powered "musicians"
RUN
"ayo pass me the aux cable"
"ok but u better not play trash"
"don't worry"
I LOVED THIS, it's amazing that all of those devices looks like they have their own personality. And I also liked that while all the toothbrushes vibrate normally, the 2nd toothbrush from right in 1:53 vibrates like crazy.
The bass toothbrush always does that and I LOVE IT
he's easily my favourite. the slower wiggle he does like he's just vibing from the neck up kills me
Its dependent on the frequency and rolling shutter effect
What video has the best wiggle? Anyone?
@@nazrarain1452 same
"In the Hall of the Tooth Fairy"
XD
I was concerned halfway through that we weren't going to get the increased tempo at the end. I was in NO WAY disappointed. Yet another masterpiece.
Happy to hear that there was enough bpm for you 😄
I expected to be amazed and wasn't disappointed. Hall of the Mountain King is one of my favorites.
Now, maybe “Circle of life” from Lion King
Support this!
yes
I loved the iron steam blasts being used as cymbals.
i actually cant fathom the effort that it takes to orchestrate each video. like how much effort actually goes into these seems immense
As I understand it, once he has the device moded, it just a mater of creating a midi track, not easy, but not as hard as it may seem
I like the blue one doing more of the base. Looks like he puts all his body into it, flailing his little arms 😆
2:36 Nice bass drum!
It’s in moments like these that I want to thank Tim Berners-Lee for creating the World Wide Web!
Kinda wish the washing machine made reappearance
Jk, he would’ve “watered down” the performance
I’ll see myself out
Lol
Sir, it's time for you to leave XD
That was funny.
Well, water you waiting for? Let's hear another one!
I'm afraid, Sir, your comedy career is all... washep up.
...
Please hold the door. I'm going out as well.
Idk, the dryer's career was really *dry* all the way through.
The use of the steam irons has always been a favorite of mine and I think this is them at their peak.
I got this recommend while i've been working on a presentation about Edvard Grieg
all of the devices have so much character... even the toothbrushes, who don't have mouths... the fact that some of the googly eyes are smaller is just perfect. and they make such beautiful music together. can they have names
Dad: what are you watching?
Me: I'm watching various electronic gadgets produce noices in a perfect harmony that resembles a famous song.
Dad: 🤦♂️
This is amazing, the feeling of more and more hectic sneakily creeping up to the listener is captured perfectly in this, the chaos at the end, perfect
Finally, a group that you know will accellerando together at the same speed.
I LOVE how the eyes on the toothbrushes move when they vibrate, it's hilarious!
Greetings to Our Skandinavien Friends from Norway
Hallo! You've made some great music there!
Morjens and hello from Sweden, part finn!
@@Mjao519 Morjens and hejsan!
@@DeviceOrchestra Du är svenska? I'm learning, so don't judge.. :)
Always so impressive. Been watching for years, and it keeps amazing me
Those motherloving IRONS just murdered me XD
Thank you again for doing this! I busted out laughing when the typewriter did the furious clicking near the end.
In the Hall of the School Dentist
I've just watched this six times on repeat. I love the effort that's gone into it. That bass toothbrush wiggle cracks me up every time!
Oh dear, the printer's ending solo made me laugh so hard 🤣🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I got a so called "drunken list" - videos I watch when I drink. This one goes there. Great job.
As a Norwegian, I will say that I'm proud of this music ...
AND this version was awesome!
Very cool!! I love the increased tempo and the toothbrush that just wiggles! Pretty funny! Merry Christmas!
This channel is soo underrated
You've outdone yourself with this one. I don't know how you will ever be able to top it. Bravo!
Perfect! The range of sounds, the flavours, the tempo! One of my new Device Orchestra favourites.
Maybe for your 1 million subscriber special you can do the entire 3 hours of Handel's Messiah.
Orchestration of the garage sale aside, this is actually a really great cover of this song. The effort backing it up makes it infinitely better.
The end was fantastic!
“So what kind of music do you listen to?”
“...it’s complicated”
Fantastic! Il love Device Orchestra ✌
And I love you!
It's when those irons join that it really picks up. My favorite "instruments" of the bunch
I love In The Hall Of The Mountain King
And you have made it even better!
You should've showed us the that _wires_ *under the table* . I still remember how much wires just 5 (or 6 can't remember) devices had in your Take On Me vid.
Actually, I filmed each device one by one for this video. Me and my hardware wouldn't have been able to handle the wire spaghetti of all the devices.
@@DeviceOrchestra oh thats genius
Now that's what I call a Proper remake of classical music! Nice Job! :D
This was the recommendation I didn't know I needed in my life.
Could you do "the typewriter", preferrably without use of said typewriter
That's a great suggestion!
1:16 IT LOOKS LIKE THESE TWO DEVICES ARE HOLDING HANDS THATS TOO CUTE ! :3
I love this, you are always outperforming yourself!! Congrats on this piece of art! :-D
By far this is the best one youve done so far imho i love it
The second toothbrush from the right is my favorite XD
This the season
I've been subscribed for months and you never fail to amaze me in every updates!
I want to know how you do it but at the same time I don't want to lol. I know it's complicated for my brain. Code cable and patience.
I love when it's zoomed to the toothbrushes
Really great :) I'm looking forward to the next song !
Best one yet for sure, amazing job, keep it up!
This is so flawless. It's insane.
In the Hell of the Toothbrush King
This is your best work yet! It’s been fun growing with you and watching the progression!
Amazing! Hearing was of my favorite songs done in this interesting and creative way was great.
This is a great gift to wake up to!
Merry Christmas Nathanos! 🎁
Merry Christmas!
I love the end when you thanks to the patreons. Very creative
Thanks! :) I wanted to find a special way to thank them and I'm glad that I found one!
That was amazing! Can’t wait for the next video!
I would absolutely pay to see this orchestra on tour.
Love the way you credited your supporters!
Thanks! I actually saw Wintergatan doing something similar. I wanted to show my patron names in the end too, but in my own way.
@@DeviceOrchestra Did you have to write any code for printing or was the device able to accept a standard file?
@@welshdave5263 Well, actually I pre-printed the names using just a normal printer and normal paper. Then I just cut the paper to fit into the credit card machine. I can't control the thermal printer inside the machine, only the paper feed motor.
@@DeviceOrchestra haha, nice workaround!
@@DeviceOrchestra could maybe get away with song lyrics come out of some devices on the same way.
My man Yellow Toothbrush got an eye that’s stuck, he’s got reverse lazy eye, lol!
Name of the Norwegian composer: Edvard Grieg who was born in the 15th of June 1843 and died in the 4th of September 1907.
Ha ha, this is fantastic. I Love the black background, almost feels like a looping GIF format. I also love how you did the credits on actual printed paper. Keep up the great work, and stay safe!
What about "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" ?
When the irons start steaming though :O
I've come back time and again to watch this! It's absolutely brilliant.
Just discovered this channel only recently, but I have been on a bit of a binge since then because they are all just so good, which admittedly is in part because these are good songs by themselves but your creativity with Electronic Devices, the Googly Eyes and cotton wigs, the little stop motion skits… Just really elevates these videos as a viewing experience into something charming and special. It’s gotten to the point where the first thing I do is like the video before it’s really even started lol.
I would love to see more Queen covers done by you such as Bohemian Rhapsody, or or some Beatles songs would be fun as well, but really I am just game to see and hear anything else you got.
Keep up the fantastic work.
Me : How many device do you have ?
Him : Yes ...
PERFECT, truly did it justice. THAT'S what I expect when I read "In the Hall of the Mountain King"
One of my favorite classic songs! Fantastic job!
I like the way you printed the patron names at the end.
1812 overture finale next?
This was amazing like honestly there is nothing more I can say just a master piece.
so so well done! Awesome. Love the way you did the whole thing too, really captured the different instruments in the original
always in awe of the amount of work that goes into these and the googly eyes make me so happy
praise be to wiggly toothbrush!
watch it on 2x speed this is great.
Haha, you're right! 😄
0.5x is better 😉

Everyone else vibing: cool stuff, man.
Me vibing:
This is your best work, yet! You captured the increasing anxiety of the original piece with plastic and electronics! Bravo, indeed!
When a device plays the piano for you
Oh Man U just reminded me of Alton Towers, what good days,
This is amazing. I can't imagine how long it took to "tune" everything. So much effort, and yet it looks effortless. Great job!
This has got to be the cleanest version of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" ever.
More like "Home Goods Aisle of the Walmart King"
My, I was searching for something mall related, this takes the cake (Aisle 7)
Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights please cuz it will sound EPIC!
Aaah what a Christmas gift! Happy Christmas to you too!
This deserves way more attention on CZcams!!! Just brilliant!!!
The next video needs to be cyberpunk 2077 theme
Incredible! And, sadly, 40 people never got hall passes.
Simply amazing, Merry Christmas!
These videos give me so much joy!
My wish: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
