Years ago my first hire we went from Valley cruises in Nuneaton down the Ashby, was a joy to do it again on my own boat recently.

Thanks Ed. I think that makes you the first boat tuber up the Ashby. I've earmarked it for my maiden voyage when my boat finally gets built. They are running several months late unfortunately.

Andy B Hi and thanks for the comment. I think the Ashby would be a good first trip. Let us know how it goes.

With hind sight would you have bought a boat that needed a total refit. Or would you have bought a ready fitted out boat. But just needed a little work

steve cooney Hi Steve, I always intended to buy a project boat and never wanted a ready to go. The fun for me is building and using things. I have had at least one project on the go since I was 14.

Eds world anything you regretted doing or not doing on your boat?

steve cooney Not really, i wish i could have figured out the build order a bit better as i would be much further on by now but happy enough with it all really. Its all part of learning.

Hi ed... were in the same boat as you (excuse the pun). In that were looking for a doer upper with quite a tight initial purchase budget. How difficult was it to find a boat for your purchase price and also in your experience how difficult is it to find a hardstanding spot where i can rent whilst doing the work? Any advice would be greatfully recieved

Col and mags mini adventures Hi and thanks for watching. Boats for under 10,000 are not too hard to find but any project boat must have a good hull. Hard standing is not so easy to find. Most places with hard standing are full up but it depends where you are based just as much. Its worth just walking into a boat yard and asking if anything is for sale, thats what i did.

Eds world thanks for the tip. Were very keen to get underway yet 25 to 30k is proving hard to save. Time to start firing emails out to lots of boatyards then. Cheers bud.
