This! The struggle with your own language.. I'm going back to India for good at the end of this year. Thank God, my daughter won't struggle to speak her mother tongue or call it my "dad's language" or "mom's language". It's her language too and what we are most comfortable with.
It's the parents fault. Don't blame the kids when parents didn't focus on teaching properly and let schools and TV influence the child more. I've seen parents teach good malayalam, Telugu, tamil in US but it does take effort.

@@dharen2000 idk who that is but there are no specific facial features that distinguish telugus, malayalis, etc from other Indians (except northeast indians) and South Asians. Maybe there could be differences in skin tone, but there are fair south Indians and dark north indians.
