    Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If your into being off-grid and boondocking, or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

      Got my tattoo all designed already. It's a skeleton on a tricycle because I figured it looked like me. I had to push a Honda 450 a mile once with a flat tire and that was bad enough! That Pan Head would have killed me.

    Good choice of product to review and great job Rick. I bought one this summer and it has been a real delight. After not riding a bike for about 40 years the escape is the one I chose too. I needed a shorter bike and I like that you don't have to lean down in the front to ride it. While I was waiting for over 3 months for the himiway rack to come in (which itself is a very nice bike rack), I rode around my paved neighborhood getting used to it. I did a lot of pedaling for the exercise but still had lots of fun with the throttle assist too. I rode 40 miles on a charge and still had a little juice left. I did it a second time too to make sure that wasn't a fluke. Then my rack came in and I went camping with it. That was awesome, it took my camping to another level. It's great for running down dirt roads and does very well on bike trails and through the woods. Of course out on rougher terrain you won't get the 40 miles. My only complaint about the escape is the hardness of the seat on these old bones but I bought a gel cushion that is used for knee walkers and that helped a lot.

    Here in Missouri, if one wants to ride the trails, the throttle has to be a button or a thumb lever type, twist throttles are seen as a motorbike/moped, best to check regulations fro the state you are in. This bike is perfect for nomads for riding around the campground, exploring the area you are in.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety +2

    I have a Rad Power RadCity model bike that I bought a few years ago, and have put about 500 miles on. I think it’s from essentially the same company as the bike you reviewed. It’s a pretty good piece of transportation. It’s rugged, and a bit crude in the way I think Soviet things might be. The only problem I’ve had is the kickstand failed after about a year in service. I thought I’d be able to repair it so didn’t ask for a replacement until I figured out it’d be tough to fix. But by then it was long since out of warranty, so had to buy a new one. Oh well - I think it was $20 for a new one. The RadCity has a full rear rack to which you can attach standard pannier bags. There’s a cheap German made set of those on Amazon that can hold a full sized reusable grocery bag on each side. No problem hauling 40 lbs of groceries on the back. The RadCity doesn’t have rear suspension so I got a seat post with a spring in it which works fine over most bumps you’ll hit riding around town.

    I’ve not read all the comments yet; someone may have addressed this question. Have you researched the e-bike regarding rainy day weather, required fully covering if mounted on ramp on back of van or rv, can it be left out in the elements without damaging any components? What if you’re on a ride and it starts to rain, will the bike still function as a motorized unit to get you back home? I’m bringing this up because another CZcamsr ran into an issue but I can’t recall the e-bike maker. 🚴‍♂️

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety

      Hello Linda, Himiway says "Himiway E-bikes are water-resistant, but not waterproof. Short term, your e-bike can get wet and be in the rain, but any long-term exposure can cause serious problems. It's important to note that no e-bike is entirely waterproof (even if they claim to be). Just like any other electronics, a smartphone, for instance, might be "water-resistant" but it is not waterproof." I can tell you that all the electrical connections are tight and the controller is protected in the frame. I would always remove the battery while it's stored outside or on a bumper (It's easy to remove) and I would never immerse the bike. I wouldn't worry about rain during a ride though.

    Well Alright, another Fabulous Wonder-Tool/Toy to add to the Never Ending dilemma of Want or Need. A little bit of Both I'm thinking. I've been wanting one of these things for awhile now and soon I will have to take the Plunge. I wish it had a sound effect that made it grumble like a Harley. And, I have to find the right helmet that doesn't give me the 'Banana Head' look. They are out there somewhere, I've seen them. Rick, Thanks for the Detailed Descriptions of all the functions. • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety +1

      There IS a way and if you already have a solar panel it's not too expensive either. I saw a couple of videos about it and you use an "adjustable output voltage" MPPT controller between the panel and the battery. Available on Amazon for under $50. Try looking up those videos on CZcams and you'll see how easy it is.

  • @donteatthefoxgloves377

    Is this bike waterproof? I didn’t find it in their specs and maybe I missed it in your video somehow. We live in Oregon….🌧🌧🌧🌧 Great info, thanks!

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety

      None of the ebikes are "waterproof" but this one should stand up to moderate rain ok. It's like anything electronic though, in that you would want to play safe and try to avoid getting it wet if possible. I wouldn't leave it parked outside in the rain.

  • @wrbruce6100
    @wrbruce6100 Před 2 lety

    That would be a handy thing to have. Are you going to put a cushion on the back for Linda to ride with you. I can see the addition of a cart to put groceries in and maybe a gun rack. The potential is there for a lot of things. That will be the basic model. Good video my friend, take care and stay safe.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety +2

      I may put on a cushion and foot pegs for Linda because it has the adjustable rear suspension and can easily handle the weight. I see those items listed aftermarket for the Escape. I explained about riding on the handle bars, but she wasn't impressed with the idea.

    Looks like fun and great for trails. There are accessories that can make the bike easier to ride but rigging necessities can be satisfying. Since States are regulating e-bikes are they also providing street lanes? It is safety reasons that have stopped me from getting one. I can take my powerchair on sidewalks and on into stores, most places. All I need is a trailer for Wifey.
    Play with your settings and increase the top speed. ??????

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety +2

      When you get these, the top speed is locked out in order to be legal in most areas, but the hack to change it is easy and is in the settings.

  • @stevemccormack9948
    @stevemccormack9948 Před 2 lety

    Hi, I wonder how you think it compares to the Fiido T1 Cargo which you recently reviewed? The lack of rear suspension on the T1 is the only thing that makes me want the Himiway instead. Which did you like best?

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety

      There's no doubt that the Himiway Escape is a smooth ride, but it's not the suspension that I'm taking about, it's smoother when the motor kicks in. The lack of rear suspension on the T1 Cargo isn't that noticable and it also has the suspension in the seat post which does help. The other thing that I like about the T1 is that it has an adjustable seat height for easier pedaling.

  • @jwagnermail
    @jwagnermail Před 2 lety

    I don't understand the decision to make the seat with no adjustment - it would not detract from the bike to be adjustable in any way I can figure out.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety

      I wish it was adjustable too. I think this model is supposed to be more like a moped or scooter, those seats are not adjustable.

    That amount of pressure on the knees is not good. Does the seat adjust so that you can get a more comfortable position on the knee bending?

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety

      The seat isn't adjustable on this model ebike but it's supposed to used more like a moped where you rely more on the bike's power. It would be nice if it was adjustable, though.

    Great...where would you put it on the trailer?

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 2 lety +2

      Currently, I don't intend to bring it on trips, Linda isn't a bike rider and I wouldn't want to go off without her, BUT if I was going to bring it I would install a hitch on the trailer and get a "shelf" type bike rack to go on it. Then I'd figure out how much tongue weight I would need to compensate for it and load accordingly.
