  • I got this video from youtube a few years ago and now I can't find it here anymore, so I'm uploading it. Does anyone know what's the first song he plays. It's such a beautiful sound!!!

some of the most beautiful music ever written, from a soul not of this earth, had the privalige to meet Vinni, and in real life, his soul shines in every way as much as his guitar

Vini Reilly's one of those musicians where you can hear about three bars and know instantly that it's him.
A truly unique genius in my view and hearing this takes me back to my teen years in Manchester in the 80's.
Brilliant stuff - cheers for uploading.

Whenever I hear Vini playing the guitar, I automatically think it would make a great soundtrack to a film. It would be a very sad or melancholic film involving a lost or unrequited love and probably be in black and white and involve long, sweeping shots of someone walking over the moors or on a beach looking all forlorn.
Vini supposedly used to get lots of female fan mail when the Durutti Column were semi famous and I can see why as I've always thought his music sounded massively romantic in a non standard way. I know he hasn't been at all well over recent years and I hope as we reach the end of the year his health has improved and he's enjoying life. His music has never garnered as much attention or critical acclaim as it deserved in my opinion. He should be far wider known as a world class guitarist and composer of tunes.
