I wasn’t going to get into the snow and ice removal game because here in Oklahoma we don’t get a lot of snow and ice. And I’m 56 and thought, I’ll let the younger guys handle this. Then last weekend hit. My phone has been ringing a bunch. I did find sand today and got it spread in the customers driveway. Hopefully I can find salt tomorrow, but thats been tough. My equipment? A fertilizer spreader, a grain shovel and the Echo 8010. Lol Love your videos, I learn something every time I watch.
We got 18 inches here in Chicago yesterday because of the lake effect with about 30 inches on the ground right now, you can not even walk through it, I don't remember this much snow in a very long time, it is crazy.
@@JohnnyMow yep just salted 12 of the last 14 days! Little above an average winter, but nothing unusual.. We do have better revenue in winter operations, then mowing etc.. We got hit with the same storm, but it was 19 degrees & freezing rain.

Then you should put a little divider up front with just enough room for the snow blower and shovels. Or just put shovels on top of tarped salt. Still can get a ton/ton 1/2 In there I bet. Local solo guy around here does that. Seems to work well for him.
Yea this winter is hitting everyone hard. I took the gamble this year that we wouldn't get that much snow and still running on a budget snow removal setup 16-in snow shovel and a fertilizer spreader for salt... Yeah I lost this bet 😭😭🤦♂️😂
Nice video, thanks for sharing. I have 2 of those spreaders you have, cant go wrong with a boss spreader. I usually can fit 16 bags in there. How many salt accounts do you have on your saltrun? How many hours it usually take you?
michigans biggest salt mine is like 20 minutes away in detroit. we have tons of bulk salt from the mines being so close. bagged rock salt is on a shortage however
I live right across from the Neville Island facility. Their supplies are looking a little low. I can't find any Calcium Chloride anywhere. Customers don't want salt on their driveways or sidewalks for fear of damage.. stay safe out there...
I’m glad I just purchased a pallet even if I have to store it all summer. I wish I could find salt as cheaply as you find it, but I charge accordingly. We got hit with a 10 to 12 inches last night. Weather man said it was gonna be 6 - 10.
I think a lot of the country is catching hell Johnny 😐 We have been floating around 0°- 3° feels like temps and freezing rain yesterday😨what makes it worse is the 100% humidity. It's gonna start with freezing rain tommorow again🤦♂️the water troughs for our cows was frozen over 3" thick today when I busted it up for them. Stay safe out there man!

I have seen many freezing rain storms, one in Kansas City I had to use a BMFH to break the ice up on the driveway after I put salt pellets down to swiss cheese the ice. It paralyzed the city for weeks.
@@JohnnyMow this is where you need to be strategic with your salting. Let the sun do the work in sunny areas and put it down thicker in those shady spots. Good luck brother hope everything thing works out for you. Be safe.
Johnny don't blame the meteorologists. We have climate change and it's hard to predict weather. We have to embrace green energy. We are all dying out here. All because of the trucks you guys run. And then using up all our salt. We won't have any salt left for my eggs and ham.
