Most type of food in malaysia, especially rice you dont eat individual item individually. You take a bit of everything in every bite. Individually, they taste too strong especially salted fish or egg. It is supposed to make the plain rice taste good.

There are lot Javanese descent in Malaysia especially in the states of Johor, Selangor & Perak...FYI they are Malaysian & considered as "Malay" or bumiputera here in Malaysia...i understand if you got confused, their food similar to Indonesia... way too long to explain because its part of history...for real authentic Malay food usually come from the states of Kelantan & Terengganu 😁

Patin is one of cat fish species. Cook with fermented durian called tempoyak. Found in Perak (northern of pen. Malaysia) and Pahang (east coast of pen. Malaysia).
Danau Kota is at east of KL. Can reach there by LRT or bus. There is where the patin's shop situated.
    I like 'pais' patin more😊

You need to buy or bring water to drink bro. Not just for hidration, but also to prevent chocking. Mineral or plain drinking water is better coz in Malaysia, most of the times you would be tempted to touch your food or eat them with your fingers. You can wash your hands before and after eating.

19:29 Tempoyak is the best! I go to Temerloh in Pahang for it. It is patin (catfish) cooked in a durian and chilli soup for maybe over a low flame to get all the wonderful flavours out.

Nowadays there are more and more "fine dining" Malay restaurants in KL/Selangor areas. "Fine dining" but I can assure you they are not too pricey, but the ambience looks more exclusive than the typical Malay food stalls that can be found abundantly. You should check out Malay restaurants such as Rebung, Bijan, Hidang, Sudu, White & Black Kampong Heritage, Palmierra 28 and Hening

Indonesian food is number one Malaysian food. Somehow in Malaysia we cannot get exactly the same ingredients (certain herbs cannot been grown in Malaysia) to make it. That's why it has to be called Malaysian - Indonesian.
