- A fantastic - and hard-to-find - 23 minute live set from Shaky from 1980. The picture quality isn't perfect but Shaky's performance definitely IS and the sound is just fine.

I have had the privilege of seeing him live twice, both times was a brilliant performance. Nothing but raw talent. The modern day singers could learn a lot from this video for today’s music is garbage, it’s got no heart, no fire, this is full of energy. Shaky will always be my favourite male singer. Let’s rock and roll!

Gerraint Watkins on piano, Micky Gee and Roger McKew on guitars, Stuart Coleman on bass, Howard Tibble on drums and B J Cole on pedal steel guitar. Now that's a great band.
I,ve had Roger and Howard playing in my band a few times both in France and England fantastic musicians and very nice guys there is a you tube clip of us all in France ..Mel Stevens and the Strollers live in France , i met Shaky a few times back stage and seen lots of his shows , i have tryed to play a little bit like Micky and Gerraint on piano and guitar , Keep a Rockin Mel UK.
Very envious. Sadly today's music is very much lacking in such talent. I mean what a loss Mickey gee is and how amazing is the ever reliable Mr tibble on drums.

@@FaithfulServant316 A LOT of us care, sunshine. Yes, Shaky's the main man but does that mean we shouldn't recognise the many _fantastic_ musicians he's played with over the years? That would be both ridiculous and disingenuous. Do you not recognise how important Stu Colman was to Shaky's career, for example?
Thanks for that valuable information. I just caught (by accident) the broadcast of a 1980 gig at the Paris theatre in London. I hadn't a clue who it was but the band had a really authentic American rock'n'roll, rhythm & blues feel. I looked at the info panel and got the shock of my life seeing Shakin' Stevens' name roll across the screen! I thought it must be a recent recording but discovered it was 42 years ago which made it all the more fascinating.
There's not many British musicians who can nail that style authentically today. It's not really a feel you can learn 'by numbers'. You have to really understand where the music came from and play it from the heart to make it sound uncontrived. These guys really nailed it so now I am going to research them and find out where they came from.
Great video. I was 10 at the time. My mum was good friends with Shaky (Michael Barratt). She went to the Elvis Show every day of the week. My dad didn't like him because Shaky trod on my dad's hand which was on the stage. Shaky's brother Paul has worked with my uncle for many years arranging Rock n Roll weekenders in Yarmouth, Weymouth and many others. My uncle is in Matchbox "Rockabilly Rebel" He's the drummer and song writer. Seeing Shaky brings back wonderful memories of my mum who passed away 10 years ago. Thank you again for this awesome trip down Memory Lane.

@@andy6576 I love all music. I have met some great singers and musicians. My stepfather recorded some songs too. His music is on CZcams but sadly he passed away 3 years ago. His name is Rockin Al and he recorded Just for Kicks. My uncle is Wild Bob Burgos who has loads of music on here too. I was born in 1970 but in 1980 I discovered Adam Ant and Shaky. I listened to everything back to the 50's and also to the present day.

True, some decades are better represented than others, but I have over 6000 songs - enough to cover all eventualities. 😎 What was your mum's name, by the way? Did she know Shaky before "Elvis"?
@@andy6576 My mum was always part of the Rock N Roll circuit. My stepdad was a DJ for 40+ years. He even had a segment in between Bill Haley and Gene Vincent. A drinking buddy of Gene Vincent too. I'm not too sure about how long my mum knew Shaky. Her name is Joyce Silverton,(AKA Wildcat). She absolutely loved Elvis but hated the Beatles. (Do you have a Facebook page I could chat more freely with you.)

Thanks for uploading. This is amazing ! I first time got this recording on VHS cassette in 1990. Then I couldn´t beleive how good and cool this show was. Today over 30 years later, and more than 40 years after the show was recorded, I still feel the same way. WOW. Amazing. Incrediable Shakin´ Stevens

You're very welcome! Selling bootleg DVDs on ebay is definitely NOT something I agree with, the DVD I ripped this from was given to me by a friend, but people shouldn't profit from something that isn't theirs. So, I'm happy to share with other Shaky fans!

Yep, that box-set really is something else! An absolute MUST for Shaky fans (and fans of great music generally). Shaky still tours (although Covid put that on hold) and you really should check him out if you get the chance.
