bread and circus and pale are classic albums.
"@Toad the Wet Sprocket You must still figure out what these lyrics do for me and many others. Reflecting on touring in the late 80s and 90s, one of my favorite songs is Come Back Down. Reminds me of everyone everything that was going on. Yeah, when I Come Back Down, the lyrics say pretty much everything all of them were telling me and promising me they get off that crap and find certain people the world loved dead. This song always saved me and explained how the late '80s and '90s were and me being so damn tired I had lost two husbands and touring. The lyrics nail the 90s. This song saved my sanity on the road. It was always blasting on my CD Walkman. Oh god, I'm so damn tired. Song saved my sanity and grieving one after another.
Andrew was the first, and it scared me out. `it was the first time I witnessed that said goodbye, even if it was only two amazing weeks. I am glad I never tried it. Grateful, even if many are gone. They will make PBAs. Many made it clear Zen doesn't do fuckin drugs, and she isn't starting because of any of us. Weed is fine. Someone will get it if there is anything else, and they all would say..... I wanted to try it and see wtf they loved so much about it, but someone tried it once for the same reason and said don't go near it. We watched in horror as it took him weeks to get through, not doing it again, which scared the living hell out of me. Throw in Mom was a drug counselor saved my ass, scared somehow she would find out, and no green is fine and amazing, but after that, I freeze. Ugh, I still can't stand Cantrell. I fear him. He would laugh and say such awful things if he saw this CD in our room or the bus. Ugh, loath, fear him is better. My husband almost lost it on him. Ugh, amazing lyrics, voice, and sound
Yes I will, anything you say"
I've quit this a million times, can't quite stay away
Just one more time...I'll be ok
But I'm so damn tired
When I come back down
Though I'm crazy to
Anything you want from me I'll do
When I come back down
"Hey joe, could you spare a buck
I could use some food"
What a laugh, you're just one more fool
Two hours and it's back again, lapping at my heels
Stop yelling...I'll get through
But I'm so damn tired
When I come back down
Though I'm crazy to
Anything you want from me I'll do
When I come back down
When I come back down
When I come back down
I've come here a thousand times
Some things never change
Lay me down...take me away
Winter 1990, San Francisco. This song puts me right there with all the things I was experiencing in my relationship and life. Miss that. Miss Toad!
If this band doesn’t make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I will be very surprised . Iconic, amazing, and brilliant band .😊❤️🌻🌹🎶🎼
Just when I think I've found my favorite Toad song, I find another. I guess it'll keep happening because I haven't heard everything they've done yet. This video is so beautiful and evocative.
Toad was *the* soundtrack to college life in SLO/Central California 1990-1992. Perfect.
Same here! They were a huge part of the soundtrack to my life in college in San Jose.
What a beautiful song. It helped me through one of my most difficult times. 1993
turning 50 in March and still love this Band
One of their best. It's too bad that, these days, this tune is kinda considered a deep cut. I think it should be considered one of their greatest hits.
I was watching a live show on fb where they take requests and play. Found out this song is requested so often that its an auto no at this point. He'll throw it in here and there but won't play it by request 😂 most requested song in the catalog. Least like top 3 lol first song i requested 😑
Oh how I loved when Glenn had that long hair. Still in love to this day!
more old and new songs...loved your songs since 94....your songs will be in my head and in my heart forever..
Toad is filled to the brim with talent
One of my favorites.
Just realized that this band has four music videos with the word "Down" in them. "Come Back Down", "Come Down", "Fall Down", and "Hold her Down".
There is also a 90s band called "Three Doors Down." The Doors had a song called "Peace Frog." Frogs are similar to toads. Toad the Wet Sprocket. Boom.
And now they have a new coming out called Slowing Down. Be on the look out for new album before long.
The soundtrack to my college years....1988-1992. So good!
At 16 years old, I discovered this song on a recommendation by my dad, who would blast this when he was in college.
This is beautiful.
Ha! I heard this song, bought both albums I could find, (which in 1990 was only Bread and circus and Pale) loved them so much I named my band Pale
This song has haunted me since the first time I heard it over 30 years ago. There is a piece of me trapped within those lyrics, a sadness that I cannot let go.
Awesome song and video, my favorite part is when Glen is holding an umbrella.😊👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Saw them do this one last night. Glenn forgot the words for a second but still rocked.
Everything about this song and video is absolutely beautiful 😊🎶❤️🎶🌹😊🎶❤️🎶🌹
I swear sometimes i'm like the only UK based fan for these guys. Been a Toad fan since i was like 17 way back in the 90's and well 2022 and i'm still here listening
Happy Anniversary Pale!
Been listening to these songs forever they never get old
There is a girl who broke my heart. It’s been 30 years and this is the soundtrack to that time and that pain. I never told her but she owns this part of my life and I can never get it back nor can I be released from it.
Ahhhh, my youth. Love it, so many memories. Great song.
This song kept me somewhat sane, thinking about going home, in Afghanistan 2006-2007. I think we were all so damn tired. Kinda a light at the end of the tunnel song.
Love these guys. Back in the great 90's, they were liked by all. Fortunate to have seen Glenn Accoustic 2003 in Cleveland, OH. An epic 2 hour sing along. Audience did all the choruses.
I love this song.
Really fantastic song. I know this is dumb, based on the year, but it's amazing how young they are here
Pale is copyright 1990. Lead singer Glen Phillips was 19 years old.
@@youmakemyworldrock9930 the album was recorded in mid 89 as was this vid so he was 18 actually
how does this only have 111, 780 views ?! I love this f 'ing song!!

I just posted a video of TTWS doing an acoustic version of this same song…. and they just performed it, like, two days ago. Unreal.
Beautiful song! ❤️

I'm walking in circles ? Always stopping on same place.. Oh Dear God take me away..

Always love their subtleties. If you go to 1:09, Randy's hands on the table match his drumming

Anyone know where this lighthouse is?
I have been wondering about the exact location of this for years. This is also the same spot where they filmed the "walk on the Ocean" video three years later in 1992
Kinda watered down alternative music... sounds pretty good though...
Nice backhanded compliment. I would say this is more of a folk rock song then "water down alternative" considering that alternative music at the time this was released consisted of bands like Siouxsie and the banshees and Bauhaus. The term "alternative" got attributed to something completely different in the mid to late 90s. This song was recorded in 1989
their entire catalog perfectly articulates the frailty of the human condition.
