Very informative video! Am new to wisterias but am thinking of planting a wisteria tree with a metal umbrella support. I assume that pruning would be the same as well as Summer training? Looking forward to the next instalment on Winter pruning.
Nice channel, good info! I have a pergola cattle panels on the top for support of the vines. The wisteria is in it's 3rd year, just peaked over the top and trailed about 1/4 of the top. It is beginning to be a twisted nightmare. Rt now it's March, bud swell barely begun. Can I still winter prune the top ? Thank you! p.s. Camera guy needs to learn how to zoom in quickly and very close to what u are trying to show us.😇
The camera guy - is the same guy in front of the camera. These CZcams videos take a huge amount of effort to film and edit as a one man band - I try my best. Thank you for watching
How many branches can you get? I’m looking to cover a tall wall, I would like to have branches every foot or so, the wall I’m growing on is about 15 foot tall
Hello great video but I do have a question is,you don’t mind, I planted a year old wisteria at the beginning of the year, the two main vines are climbing up my wall nicely but every now and then they sprout new vines of of the main vine, do I lop them off of just leave them
Can you recommend wire ect for fixing to a old stone wall for climbing roses? (beginner gardener) Love your channel and get more how to's in the works :)
😀 Hi, I have put a link in the description. That kit has pretty much everything you need to get started. I hope this is helpful. More how to videos in the making. Thank you so much for watching 😀
I planted some new wisteria a few months ago. There growing well. But when I take the new vines and move them to train. The ends die back about 6 inches. Even though I am very careful and hardly touch or bend them???
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I planning to use garden twine to tie up my wisteria. Should I leave slack to enable the vine to thicken or tie it close to the tension wire ?
It has the potential to cause damage if it is allowed to grow into joints, or if it finds its way into a gap - it could cause damage. But as long as you keep on top of pruning it won’t get a chance 😀 Thank you for watching.
Excellent from another gardener in Yorkshire :)
Gillian Millard 😀 Thank you

Hi, yes - techniques are the same, as we are basically just controlling the growth and shape of the plant 😀
997 subs, nearly there :)
Lovely work 👌
Good work fella 👍

Stupid question probably, is there a reason you use string vs wire....would always be worries the string may rot out
I took the thumbnail !!!!!!!!!!!! 😊

@@TheFullyChargedGardener Thank you so much.
Would you advise to use tensioners when creating the trellis? What's the risk otherwise? Cheers
Great video! Can I keep mine in a pot and train it to grow around my pergoda?
You can indeed. Just be sure to keep it well watered.
So when training, you don’t prune the lead growth correct? Just nurture it.
Hello there, can you please tell me what the best way to put up the wired trellis for wisteria, vertical or horizontal way? Thanks
Horizontal is best 👍

Are you doing this during the summer months?
@@TheFullyChargedGardener yes
I planted my wisteria plant a year ago. Now it is growing on fence. Will that be alright? I don’t know how heavy the wisteria will get in future.
If the wisteria vine naturally twines, why do you tie it to the wire instead of letting it naturally twine around the wire?
Basically gives you more control over the plant - also makes life easier if the wire ever breaks.
Thank you for watching 👍

I just wanna know that can wisteria damage walls and bricks
