With all the gripes about GPU prices and availability, when will CPU prices drop etc its refreshing to hear about PSUs for a change, especially given all the news about "exploding" ones and efficiency ratings which are less than honest. Thanks for taking the time to do this instructional video, Im sure it'll be of use to those who arent 100% about PSUs.

I see the prices of AMD Ryzen 3000/5000 series drop. At least overhere, where a Ryzen 5 5600X was 320 Euro's a start and now dropped to 279 euro.
@@dorientjewoller113 Yeah Id noticed that too :-) Happy days.......Im running a 3600 on a B450 motherboard so if prices keep dropping Id be tempted to upgrade.

I've wondered, what do you do with old PSUs when you upgrade to a better one? great video as always, very informative and a great video to show new pc builders.
the old parts normally get reused in a lower tier build and recycled
TC Sunbow ssd! These ssd, as well as Tosorus and Aseno are quite ok for cheap upgrade on old PCs..

Haven't had a chance to watch the whole video yet, but did you address the psu orientation? Fan up or down? I know it depends on various factors but beginners might be confused. I know I had to Google it on my first ever build 😅

Good tutorial Mike👍Like the idea of psu tester that ugly bob sent to you. About 3yrs ago i swapoed from athlon to FX cpu and kept crashing. Thought nievely it was osu under powered but turned out FX needed better cooler as old design case with no airflow as such. Only this week i found the old psu & wondered if i cud keep as spare! So would using the tester tell me if useable or chuckable?! Thanks Mike for taking the time to explain good practises👍
the tester would confirm the rails are good still, it doesn't put any loads on it so won't stress test it, but will give a warning if any rails or caps are gone

Hi Mike I have a question I just built a Ryzen 5 3600 with Asus Tuf B450+ gaming and a Corsair 650w PS ,Corsair ddr4 3200 and a RTX 3060 graphics card. Been running and playing for 3 weeks running great so yesterday while gaming not hard the machine just went black and re-booted very odd could that be the Corsair PS they make pretty good stuff. No overclock at all stock settings. System shows its not running hot...I have not a clue what it could be ?
maybe a driver update in the background? check the event logs and see if anything appears that looks a bit sus
