Really impressive and really good show of what Black Metal sounds like.
First riff is just on another level though. Most bands wish they could come up with something that good!
None of these were played in a forest or wearing a wizards hat.
Not true black metal
Im so trve that i dont have a guitar, drums or bass i just hit logs and stones in the dark forest where i live...
Dude, the guitar sound is awesome! I really need to promote you. I'll just post this video on my channel. Hope it helps!
Not trve kvlt recording quality too good
I AM DEATHWISH playing with mittens is always good to get that perfect black metal guitar sound!
0:36 is the most brutal black metal riff
"Marduk do this a lot" as he stated,.. And that's why it's called "Brutal" Black Metal
@@ZechsElI would consider it more blackened death metal or bestial/war black metal
Riff 4, minor chords: *COUGH COUGH DARK FUNERAL*
They're really good at it.
Diatonic Dyads are probably one of my favorites of black metal since their basically just two note riffs.
Diatonic Dyads is The Best !!!! My favourite...
is that from a song or is it improvised? I mean with dyads it's so frickin easy to improvise some good shit when you know lots of chords by heart, but that specific chord sequence sounds tasty. I'd totally listen to the song it's from
I like these:
Phrygian Powerchords
Minor Chords / Diatonic Dyads
In a equal manner.
Please recommend some bands or songs that use diatonic dyads, would like to hear them. Thanks
This 2.5 minute long video helped me better than most lessons. Thanks dude
Your observations are perfectly true! I also noticed the use of minor chords in a number of songs (e.g. Behemoth - Antichristian Phenomenon, Dark Funeral - The Secrets of the Black Arts)
If you can thrash and play some barre chords, you're 90% there.
*Play through an 8-inch blown speaker recorded by a potato for maximum resvlts.
Good riffage, BTW.
Awesome video. I have no knowledge of musical theory but always heard the differences. Moving the 5th is definitely Satyricon and the minor chords if slowed down is pure Burzum.
I learned more in 2 minutes than I learned in 2 months.
The Marduk riff is dopest dope
everything about this video is great. definitely subscribing, just keep up the quality work and I definitely will not be the last one to sub
was expecting this video to be lame but was pleasantly surprised, Awesome!
I JUST literally created some simple, Darkthrone inspired riffs today by simply playing your typical power chord but moving my ring/pinky finger to the left and to the right while strumming. So instead of just playing, say, the 5th notes of the E string and 7th note of the A string, I keep my pointer finger on the 5th of the E string note while moving my ring finger (or pinky finger) into the 6th note and then the 8th note of the A string. This allows for melody while maintaining dissonance.
The other thing I did was tremolo pick single notes of a chord (Varg does this all of the time). If you combine the two approaches you can get a raw, minimalistic Norwegian black metal vibe rooted early Darkthrone and Burzum style music.
This video is excellent. It explains some of the musical theory in bite-size form. Gave it a thumbs up.
All those riffs are so well done, great job dude
This is a great video honestly... every band you said the specific style sounds like was the band in immediately thought of. Especially Marduk.
I bloody loved the riff 2, it was awesome
I love listening to these riffs. Especially the first and fourth ones.
Holy crap. That first riff. Goosebumps.
Video lesson is BEAUTİFUL I AM BLACK METAL GUİTAR PLAYER AND I LEARNED NEW BLACK METAL TECHNİQUES AND REPEAT THE OLD ONES THANK YOU

Love the Guitar Tone bro :)
Part 1: Riff 3 and Riff 5 (before the first part) hooked me!

Maestro maestro maestro,el hombre llega y toca los temas no pone la carita y empieza con explicaciones a dar la lata.de una a tocar, práctico.
Excellent summary and examples of the different styles.
The diads and triplets are my go-to. That, and swapping between 3/4 and 6/4 grooves. Great video
Great breakdown with to the point explanations.

Whatever you did with the 5ths was sick.
Type 6 -- minor chord arpeggios using two chords over a half step interval (preferably E minor and F minor).
Well done. Very fascinating and thoughtful.

Riff IV is my alarm to wake up to. Or when I'm out drinking and I don't want to listen to what's playing in the bar so I'll put this on repeat. 🤘😎

-Tim "The Fresh Prince of Darkness" Ficker
Man, your tone is heavy and clean at the same time, sick as fuck!!!
This is great and all but hast thou considereth ye 144p for trve kvltness?
That first progression is dope
Wow. Just the "theory knowledge" someone needs to compose black metal riffs. Thank You!
My man here needs more subs, for real
Thanks this is helpful!
This is, beyond beautiful!!!
Riff 3 Moving the 5th Nachtblut does it a lot
Oye que buena salió la torrá de ayer, hoy he repetido para almorzar. Mañana te llevo la chaqueta a la glorieta. Morcilla y chistorra forever!!
0:10 The Dissection vibe is strong here

beautiful tone. I love that Ibanez put out those Destroyer and Iceman models again. I have my first real guitar which is an Iceman I got a long time ago. Love those guitars. Nice job analyzing the riffs too.
EDIT: just realized it was a Dean. Woops! I thought it was a Destroyer.
Real. Thanks!
Nice video, I really enjoyed it, I love Black Metal specially because of Gaahl!
Very cool. Have you ever thought about publishing backing tracks/tab with your examples or a book about how to play black and death metal guitar? That would be very useful for many students worldwide to play these amazing styles!
I have, but people would much rather watch youtube than read books, so that's why I haven't
I loved the 3rd and the 5th riffs! Are they inspired on any song or band in particular? I'm always looking for that kind of vibe.
It really helps.
AWESOME !
awesome riffs
It's best to discover and understand classic speed metal riffs to make black or metal riffs, also 1st wave of black metal
Dude, that was fucking SICK! \m/
Love that guitar.
Fucking hell brother. Insanity. Really great BM riffage
riff 4 sounds so thrash. FUCKING AWESOME
Amazing video! Hails!
The riff before the last riff is unbelievable is there any band that plays like that
it's been fuckin ages since i made this so i cant really remember who inspired riff 4
This video is real GOLD
Second riff is so fucking great and full of destruction
Really cool! Thank you! Inspiring! And Evil :-)
The first riff is amazing. So atmospheric and melodic!

you might like Axis of Light, most of their riffs are extremely melodic and a lot of the time even triumphant. They're pretty awesome
Full song?
