My first gun was bought for me by my father. It was an NEF Pardner single shot 410. I still have that gun but I've added 2 more 410's to my collection, a Mossberg 500 and an S&W Governor.
An old single shot savage 410 was my first gun. It had a hammer spring so stiff you didnt cock that thing until you were sure you were going to shoot it. Having to decock that savage scared the living crap out of me. My old man knew exactly what he was doing , by the time could decock it i could have decocked anything. I have never since ran across another of any kind that had such a stiff hammer spring. I shot who knows how many box’s of 410 when i was young , those and 22 lr shells, if i had them all now id be rich.
The Smith and Wesson Governor is the best of the .410, .45 Colt hybrid revolvers. I have one and several of the Taurus Judge variants. Let's just say I'm a huge fan of that configuration.
Combos. Pistolos in the same caliber as long guns. Absolute bliss. The Marlin 1895 45-70 Trapper Carbine in grey with the Magnum Research BFR 45-70, one of my favorite combos.

@KK-qc5ct I graduated from red Ryder bb gun, to .22lr and 410, then to .556, then to handguns. I mean this as I was allowed them unsupervised at those levels as I proved I wasn't a moron over time.
While I hate people who complain about slamming the cylinder closed, lol, no offense. At the same time, honestly, rapidly spinning the cylinder isn't great for it either. But again, I hate myself for mentioning it.
First gun ive ever shot was a small pump shotgun in .410 it was fantastic i use 12 gauge now and im very familiar with running shotgun but I owe that experience to this cartridge and the 20 gauge cartridge. Learning to shoot on shotgun made easy transfer to rifle and handgun. Recoil is less in generally every other platform.

Umm I just mentioned the benefits of starting on a shotgun because not many rifles recoil more than a shotgun does. Many people start on a .22 rifle for example. Shooting a 12 gauge shotgun to these people must feel like firing an artillery gun or something lol. For me it was the opposite. I bought my takedown Ruger 10/22 and I gotta say I felt BB guns that have more kick than this. If you haven't shot .22 before I have to recommend the Ruger 10/22. If the M&P .22 is the AR of the .22 world, the Ruger 10/22 is the AK of the .22 world. It fires just about anything I put inside of it. Hope this helps. Thanks!
My first .410 was the famous snake charmer. I still have that ole dusty relic and it still hits at quite the distance without sites. But I have some .410 ammo (for my Judge)and I haven’t shot the S/C in about 15-20 years I think I’ll break it out this weekend.👍🏻👍🏻🤷🏻♂️

I have the S&W Governor. When I was at the gun shop. I asked for the new Governor. It was $200.00 more than the Taurus Judge at the time. The salesman said, every Taurus Judge he sold went back for service. The 6 shot cylinder and ability to mix the cylinder with 2 .410, 2 .45 LC and 2 .45 ACP makes it a very versatile revolver. The Federal 000 Buck is my choice for close shots under 15 yards.
I've had my Judge for over 10 years. I never had a problem until I lent it to a friend who tried to play Dirty Harry, spinning the barrel and slapping it back. He bent the rod that holds the barrel. Taurus sent me a brand new gun, no questions. Another friend of mine has one as well, never had a problem. Just don't abuse it, and it will last..kinda like most things.
Try loading the pistol with the pistol in your left hand and your two middle fingers cradling the cylinder, and your first finger in the barrel with your pinky against the hammer. Load with your right hand. Less fiddling and switching when you have to reload. More control of the cylinder.

I've got a old Mossberg pump.410 got it for my 10th birthday it's my go to squirrel gun I'm 30 now and it still shooting like the day I got it I've always thought about customizing it and making it look more tactical it's just a simple wood stock pump shotgun holds 8 and 1 in the chamber
I gotta say, if one wants a setup to keep from buying more than one size of ammo this is a great alternative to the pistol/pistol caliber carbine setup.

The pardner was my first gun too paid about $90 for it back in the mid 1990's. I still have it and still enjoy it.
