- "27 Guns: A Story of Uganda's Bush War" is a historical account that delves into the events and circumstances surrounding Uganda's Bush War, also known as the Ugandan Bush War or the Luwero War, which took place from 1981 to 1986. The book sheds light on the rise of the National Resistance Army (NRA) and its charismatic leader, Yoweri Museveni, who later became the President of Uganda.
The title "27 Guns" refers to the initial group of 27 fighters, led by Yoweri Museveni, who started the armed rebellion against the government of Milton Obote. The conflict emerged as a response to what was perceived as a corrupt and oppressive regime, which led to widespread dissatisfaction among the Ugandan population.
The book takes readers on a journey through the origins of the conflict, tracing the roots of the rebellion back to the post-independence era when Uganda experienced political instability and military coups. It highlights the various socio-political issues, tribal tensions, and economic challenges that fueled the discontent and laid the groundwork for the NRA's insurgency.
As the story unfolds, readers are exposed to the harsh realities of guerrilla warfare in the challenging terrain of rural Uganda. The narrative portrays the sacrifices, struggles, and strategic maneuvers of the NRA as they fought against the Ugandan government forces. It also explores the international context of the war, with neighboring countries being involved either directly or indirectly in the conflict.
Throughout the book, the author provides a balanced perspective, depicting both the triumphs and tribulations faced by the NRA. The rise of the NRA from a small group of rebels to a formidable force is explored, along with the impact of their strategies on the course of the conflict.
"27 Guns" also delves into the human side of the war, examining the personal stories of various individuals who were affected by the violence and upheaval. This approach helps humanize the individuals involved, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the war's complexities and consequences on the lives of ordinary Ugandans.
In the latter part of the book, the focus shifts to the final stages of the conflict, culminating in the fall of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, and the NRA's eventual ascent to power. The author explores the challenges of post-war reconstruction and nation-building, as well as the controversies and criticisms faced by the new leadership.
Overall, "27 Guns: A Story of Uganda's Bush War" offers a compelling narrative of one of Uganda's most significant historical events, blending military history, politics, and personal stories to paint a vivid and comprehensive picture of the country's journey from insurgency to governance. The book not only appeals to those interested in African history and politics but also to anyone seeking insights into the complexities of armed conflicts and their aftermath. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

Thank you for the great work on this documentary, love from Russia
This is a masterpiece that incorporates everything that would mean courage, determination, sacrifice, and going against all odds. I whole heatedly thank all of our heroes and I won't forget whoever took part in bringing this salient history to the generation.

Mzzee m7 made and continue making history for our own uganda excellent work done
It's surprising, the movie shows tht during tht tym, it's the government soldiers who were killing natives and the rebles were always on the good side, wabula agayaaye
Personally I expected such since it's the first daughter who was so naive and innocent at the tym behind this project
I think if kony becomes president, the same can be done to make kony look so Holly and a hero
Nze awo navaawo dda mu ndowooza
And secondly, these people are still far from real actors. In the first operation the real fighters didn't have full army uniforms.
And also the one who acted like m7 failed even to try his accent.
How come people in Luwero loved rebels more than government soldiers?
@@gaineredison390I was thinking the same. The look was spot on but the accent he should have tried n forced it
History is written by the winners! No one ever talks about the atrocities the allies committed when the battles in the Western front against the Germans in WW2!
Learned a lot through this movie. Uganda might not be perfect, but at least the country is stable since the NRM got to power. Also, the NRM supported the Rwandan refugees to return back home. In the end, M7 and his 26 comrades did a lot for fellow Africans
The film served its purpose.
Wooow❤
In 1986 this very havoc continued at Northern Uganda till 2006
I on behalf of the family of lino drate chaw is looking for late Gideon mademagas children.if government officials of nrm could help me give explaination about it's details.
Because there still what caused him to fight, there's still some one to play another film!
Good work.
How could u leave out Lucero
Yusuf lule issue was also a major u left out
There must be many parts deliberately left out like the prevailing contribution of Oyito Ojoko's faction and Kayira and his faction and their undeniable magnificent contribution
Warriors
from the comments, it sounds really biased, nearly propaganda. :( so... I guess ill have to read more before watching .
I think you should also make your own research rather than hanging on to opinions.
Why you didn't showing us the role of banyarwanda's soldiers like Rwigyema, Kagame and many others
Nice work
I liked the movie..especially it's an afrucan production ! Well done! But I'm not happy with the relegation role of Afande Rwigema on the cheap role as if he were not there with fearless Rwandan boys nothing could be possible !
❤❤❤😢😢
Thank you for blessing us with this great background. Long live Mr. Museveni
Nyamuhanga continue to protect mzee
If i had a chance to contribute towards this magnifient movie.iwould have given it a different exposition to suiit its agenda.
Worth watching
Again the movie clearly illustrates tht many people lost their lives in a bid to save their the life of museveni, wat have they done in compensation to their families
Envy is very dangerous

This is hilarious
Hmm with all this drama 😂😂😂
Mutware nyawo
M7 Oye
I was right not to see the so called 27 guns movie. The first wrong or lie was the clips of government soldiers killing people. All the clips were things that happened under late Idi Amin not in Obote II government.
The most painfull thing is that Ugandans are not serious when it comes to their history. There was no picture from Luwero war that was put on the first clips. It was all the killings that took place during the 1970s before 1979 liberation war.
Long live GEN MUSEVENI 🥰🥰
