Years ago I heard this on the radio one Sunday afternoon. About halfway through the broadcast, they overlayed a recording of an old man who had phoned in to the studios: "You said you vas goin' to play Gershvin. I've been listening to George Gershvin for over fifty years, and let me tell you, DAT'S NOT GERSHVIN! Vhen are you gonna play Gershvin?" My friend and I laughed for fifteen minutes. This version is brilliant, eerie and haunting. Long live The Residents, and long live Gershwin.
@Counter-Weights-Media: That's the whole point, It's a deconstructionist version,as The Residents are often wont to do. I like how in several spots they make you think that they might play it straight, but then deliberately go to the wrong note or/& change key.
Horrible Version. I really like the residents, but this version of one of my Favourite Rhapsodies is Not very good to my ears. This is my oppinion atleast.
I felt that way, too... But it's grown on me. If I were to play Rhapsody in Blue for someone I wouldn't point to this version. But if I wanted to talk about it to someone who knew the piece, this would be a great starting point.
Starting with the air raid siren is genius. Puts a totally different spin on that beginning solo.
James R Armstrong in the light of 9/11 it’s terrifying.
They really are on another planet !
The perfect theme for 2020 NYC.
The perfect theme for 2020 to now.....ANYWHERE in the world.....period!!!

Wonderfully demented. The Residents rule. They can score my dreams and nightmares anytime.
So beautiful for the Sunday morning Blues. Nothing The Rz touch can ever be the same again.
the surrealism really hits home especially listening to this right after waking up
Oh yes, i never forget. Gershwin fantastically revisited. Has not aged.
I think this is what The Great Depression would sound like if it was music...I love it
Yeah genius
The superior version of Rhapsody in Blue if I do say so myself.
BashyMcBashBash How?
BashyMcBashBash It's tasteless and talentless and choppy and doesn't follow the right note patterns

Yes. Thanks.
Thnks for this!
Love the video.....hard to tell what's real footage and what's done in miniature!
But it's fantastic.
listening to this while my mother fake cries and drinks beer down the hall, it really fits with the song
An excellent disappointment!
@@quadeadzone me, her, or my lack of doing the _"an excellent x"_ meme?
i want to join the existing pole shift survival group or start the new one.
It takes a lot of talent and creativity to turn something so beautiful into something so ugly
John Field Show I wouldn’t say ugly. I’d say disturbing and confronting.
or something different
Still no mugs,aye?
