Ducati Performance oil cost $280 for 5L and can only be used for up to 600 miles.
Motul 300v oil cost $90 for 4L and can be used for up to 3,000 miles. 300v made 2HP less than Ducati Performance oil. Which oil would you use?

Honestly neither. These race oils aren’t meant for the street, regardless of how you ride. They sheer quickly bc they’re meant to replacement after a race, not sitting at a traffic light. Even if you lose a couple HP just getting a standard Mobil, Castrol or Amsoil oil is much safer for 99% of people on street or track.

I’d love to see the viscosity of the corse oil.
Match it to v300 run them both. It’s very possible the viscosity is the only real difference. Motul uses group 5 base oil and shell hasn’t invented a better base oil. If they really do thin it out that would be why you reduce service time. And I’m sure theres a stupid amount of friction modifiers added to not blow it up as well. I bet the engine sounded more clunky in person with the corse oil. Like you could hear it moving more.
Or it could still be 15-50 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️ they don’t advertise the viscosity lol. It’s probably a 0w-xx as your tech noted how thin it is.

Looking at the graphs though...it looked like it made MORE than 2hp more at other spots in the rev range...it may have not made 3.5 more peak HP, but it did look like more than 2 hp around 11000 - 13000 rpm.....and dont even look at how much more midrange the BMW made....because it was a LOT...where the V4R was making 100hp the BMW was making 125hp or so....hope everyone caught that....and dont look at the BMW torque curve comparatively either....it was dead flat across from like 6000rpm on...right around 80 ft lbs....where the V4r didnt get there til around 9-10 grand....there is a LOT to take in....

I use Liquid Moly in most of my engines. I found the wet clutch performance far better than it was with the Shell Advanced that Ducati recommends. Fuel economy went up which means friction was reduced. Oil life is significantly better, my clutch feels the same with the new oil as it did with 3000 mile old oil. Yamaha Full Synthetic Blue gave similar clutch feel as the Liquid Moly. I had to change my oil in the middle of a 1 month road trip and Yamaha Full Synthetic Blue was all I could find in the small town I was at.

Do you think it's worth the money to gain only 2hp? What's the price difference between motul 300v and Ducati performance oil? That's a ripoff to ride only 600miles on it.

Is made for competition... in racing 2 hp is the difference between a 1st to 5th bike. For normal use? not worth it.

this is just ultra LOW viscosity Oil...Probably SAE 0W-10 or 5W. 80-90 bucks for 5Lt
Used in circuit racing and mostly in Dragster..Very low friction (so 1.5% % gain in performance), very thinn BUT CANNOT withstand many heat cycles.
tHAT IS why it must be changed after 500-600miles. It provides NO protection after 15-20 heat cycles.
Why is it used in Racing exclusively? Very low internal friction, minimal film
You COMPROMISE engine life A LOT using this "Ducati Performance" oli...
It offers MINMAL protection .But In racing, & dragster, you simply DO NOT EXPECT
an engine to last 20K miles...
If you want your engine to last MORE than one racing season (or eqivalent Km on road) put some PROPER (viscosity)
oil in it and enjoy the200whp!
Your mechanic should have known this stuff....

Don't put that paint stripper through your engine! If you do use it, do a double oil change after. Don't waste your money on expensive oil. Oh yeah, change bikes every 1k miles.
