    I'm going to try these techniques tonight.
    It's not how I was taught, but it looks like it could be very helpful and why not try something that will make my client more comfortable and save time and stress of the tedious process of lashing.
    I really hate how the gel pad can move, then it gets slightly moistened by the waterline and the gel creeps up onto the eye, resulting in the clients eyes watering more and making it near impossible to lash that eye. hopefully this technique will save some of that headache :)
    and taping in different directions, I do that, but I love the idea of isolating the lashes with the tape. we all know that sometimes the lashes cluster together or they turn a different direction and it becomes difficult to isolate lashes in that section.
    thanks for the great tutorial.
    p.s. it's sad that there are so many artists stuck in the same ways and not thinking outside of the box. every industry is always growing and evolving.

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Amanda for commenting and being open to learning new methods. You are right, it's sad that so many are stuck in their old ways for doing things and criticise anything that is different to what they were taught (even before even trying it). The eyepad under the lower lashes really is a great technique for preventing the eyepads from slipping and sliding all over the face! Make sure the tape used is not the too sticky (de-tack if necessary) and remember to peel off top layer first and always down towards the chin keeping the tape close to cheek. If you have any questions about any of the techniques email us at training@lashjoyacademy.com and we'll be able to reply faster than replying here.

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety +3

      Thanks for your comment, but no this doesn't happen at all when using the correct formula of micropore tape. We have used this technique on literally thousands of clients as well as all 150+ training events we've run since 2015. It works extremely well with for holding eyepads in place and no lower lashes come off as any of our students will tell you. Just because it's not the way many are taught doesn't mean it isn't a better way of doing things.

    This is the most informative tutorial on taping techniques the best I've seen thank you. Just on thing, you suggest using tape throughout the sitting to help get to areas that have difficult lashes. Im wondering, given that the glue doesn't completely set for 24 hours does the removal of this tape pull out the extensions beneath? Id love this technique to work as i come across many difficult areas when i"m lashing ....... Many thanks again for your great tips

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety

      Thanks for watching Joanne Hitchcock! Glad you found it super helpful :) The adhesives that we use actually cures super quick (within an hour) so as long as the correct amount of adhesive is used and the lashes are clean etc, the taping has no adverse affects and doesn’t remove any extensions. Of course when taping for inner corners the tape is applied to the lid so there’s no problems whatsoever. It is important to use the less sticky formula of micropore tape or at least de tack on clean paper towel prior to use.

    Hi Joy,
    I can use the tape techniques over the lashes when the lash extensions are in place also?

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes you can, if you're worried the tape is too sticky simply de-tack on clean paper towel first. Our formula of micropore tape available at LashJoy is not that sticky so it works very well. Be sure to remove the tape in the same direction that the lashes are facing which helps make sure no lashes are removed.

    We learned that the pad goes over the lower lashes and then you can use tape to secure it if you want.... cause the tape can be quite irritating on the skin when removed

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety +8

      Yes that is the way many are taught but times change and so do the methods for doing things. You only have to go back a few years to see some of the techniques / products being used that are now considered laughable today but that's all we knew at the time. The problem many Lash Stylists have is they don't question anything, they don't stop to think is this really the best way of doing something? Is there a better/faster/safer way? The eyepad being place on top of the lower lashes often slips and slides all over the place (particularly if clients have oily skin, high cheek bones or chat a lot) The tape on the bottom does basically nothing and as a result the gel from the eyepads can slip into the eye and cause irritation. By applying the eyepads underneath the lower lashes and using a less sticky formula of micropore tape to tape over them they act as "anchor" preventing the eyepads from slipping into the eye. No lower lashes are removed if the tape is removed in the correct manner. Those that aren't familiar with this technique will generally say it's wrong but 100% of those who we teach will say its an absolute god send and one of their favourite techniques. Obviously if a client ha an allergy to medical tape then you wouldn't use this technique but those clients are rare in our experience.

    • @LashJoy

    Why would you put tape over eye-pads? That is what eye-pads for to cover and protect bottom eyelashes...

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety +7

      Marianna Fernald it’s to stop the eyepads from slipping into the eye and causing irritation. The lower lashes act as an anchor point this way. It works very well for clients who talk a lot, have High cheek bones or oily skin as the eyepads no longer slip and slide all over their face. Watch the tutorial in full for a better understanding :)

    How do you detack them so well? After I try detaching so many times the NL will still STICK so good it yanks. I detack like 20 timessss

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 4 lety +1

      It could be the formula of micropore tape you are using? There are some that are much more sticky than others. At LashJoy, the formula we stock is not overly sticky so as long as you detack a few times on clean paper towel then it works perfect. Another thing to check if NL's are getting removed is the direction you're peeling the tape off.

    Question : how long do they last (stay on ) before a touch up ? (And the price range ?$)...

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 5 lety +1

      vicky stevenson There’s a few factors that affect how long the lash extensions will last (correct application techniques, fresh adhesive that is right for stylists environment as well as the client following correct aftercare instructions are the main ones) but generally up to 6 weeks or the length of your natural lash cycle. We find most clients come in for refills every 2-3 though to keep them looking full and at their best. Pricing for eyelash extensions varies widely but here in Brisbane where we are based $150 - $250 is average price for quality classic/hybrid eyelash extensions with refills around $80 - 100 per hour. Volume lashes are generally more expensive due to a much higher degree of skill required to apply them as well as the extra time it takes.

    @sandrab2422 Před 6 lety

    Hi Joy, with the pad being so close to the lash line will that melt the product into the eye? That has happened to my clients. The product has some contact to the water line and fills the product from the pad. It swells and is a nightmare. I really like that surgical tape you are using, is that sold in Europe? Thanks, Sandra I really love how you teach.

    • @Konditsoineer
      @Konditsoineer Před 6 lety

      Sandra Lang the new pads, not the collagen ones, are super thin. Almost like tape.

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety

      Hi Sandra, Yes that's what can happen when you apply eyepads on top the natural lower lashes as there's nothing stopping them from slipping into the eye. Having the eyepads underneath the lower lashes prevents them from coming into contact with the waterline which will solve your problem of the swelling eyepads etc.

  • @Charleneforte-thefortefix

    Adding tape to lashes to section them for corners will take new extensions off. I tried this. Unless I do corners first but doing them in sections will not allow them to dry. Maybe I’m confused.

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 3 lety

      The formula of tape you’re using might be too sticky by the sounds of it if it’s removing extensions when being removed. We use a less sticky formula of Micropore and have no issues with it. Remember the technique in removing the tape is important as well, supporting the lashes, direction etc

      I always make sure that clients have cleaned the under eye area prior to the application to get the oil out as much as possible. I keep some eyelash shampoo and cotton pads in my bathroom for this purpose. I got this really helpful tip from The Lash Manual by Chrystal Ladouceur. It's a really comprehensive book that covers a LOT of topics not covered in usual pro trainings. Thank you for your video that is very helpful. would you please give me some advice ? I have a customer who has very small amount real lashes. How can I apply looking thicker and full for her? I am thinking to do two fakes on one real lashes.

      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety

      Hi Trang, yes you can try applying 2D as long as suitable weight and length for her. Otherwise, light 3D volume in 0.05 could help. Another option is to try a lash growth serum such as LiLash or Grande Lash, they work very well :) www.lashjoy.com/search?q=lash+growth

      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety

      Hi Trang, the best advice would be for her to start using a lash growth serum (Grande Lash is very good), LiLash is also great but has a banned substance in it now so not available in Australia / NZ. Then you could apply 2D lashes as you suggested but making sure you use suitable thickness/length that won't cause damage to her natural lashes.

    Why did you put eyepads under the lower lashes ?

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety +2

      Kulli Sammel it’s to stop them from slipping into the eye & causing irritation. It’s also a great technique for clients who talk a lot during the appointment, have oily skin or high cheek bones that typically cause the eyepads to move around a lot, with this technique they stay secure.

    Why not have the lashes under the eye pad?

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 4 lety +2

      Increased risk of the Eyepads slipping into the eye and causing irritation, particularly for clients with high cheek bones, oily skin or even just those that chat a lot and cause the Eyepads to slip and move. By anchoring the Eyepads underneath the lower lashes we can avoid this from happening all together.

    So speed lashing is about the taping and not about the method to speed up the actual lashings???🤔🤔🤔
    I always thought speed lashing is about how we can speed everything up 😂😂😂

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 6 lety +3

      By using tape effectively throughout your appointment you will be able to apply more lashes in a shorter amount of time. We teach our students to be mindful of where they may be spending too much time, i.e. the consultation, priming and cleansing etc. When you know this you can take measure to be more efficient during those stages :)

      Cindy Re oh no you poor thing! She must have been using an unsuitable formula of Micropore tape by mistake (unfortunately some tapes are extra sticky and not recommended for lash application use) we stock the best version at LashJoy and have no issues whatsoever at our salons or during training courses.
      If your stylist has used the wrong tape combined with accidentally rubbing the tape over the brows or resting on the tape during application this can cause a few brow hairs to be lost when the tape is removed.
      Or, another factor is if the tape removed incorrectly i.e. against the direction of the hair instead of with it.

    She said it’s not hygienic the tape to pat on to her hand then why are U touching her with your hands anyway? What’s the different between your fingers and the back of your hand? Did U just wash your fingers? Or your whole hands? It’s not hygienic to pat the tape at the disposable pad because that pad made from the factory. Washing hands are more clean. Just saying.

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 4 lety +4

      Thel Asuncion thanks for watching and for the comment.
      To clarify, the reason it’s unhygienic to de-tack on your skin is by doing this you’re removing your own dead skin cells and then placing them near your clients eyes. Not good. Clean paper towel is a much better alternative and what we recommend.
      Just because lots of people use their skin to de-tack does not make it right or the safest method for our clients. Much like the giant lash tiles some stylists use that hold entire strips of lashes that are designed to be re-used across multiple clients risking cross contamination and potential eye infections, instead of simply preparing the lashes you need for each client and discarding any leftovers.
      And yes we always wash our hands immediately prior to application and use hand sanitizer whenever we’ve touched something foreign such as our phone etc during application.

    • @LashJoy
      @LashJoy  Před 5 lety +10

      raysofgreys unless you’re allergic to the tape it causes zero damage whatsoever. If you have experienced any lash damage it’s the stylists technique, not the tape. Perhaps they didn’t de-tack or rubbed over it too much when it was applied. All experienced lash stylists know that using tape is the key to fast and safe application.
