Thats a very British response
English not British because British is a political identity not an ethnic one.
@@FredrickGustafson-lv4ty Irrelevant distinction here as what matters is neither the political nor ethnic but the cultural identity, which could be English or British or both.
@@jonathanbeesley9103 No, Ridley is English and being English isn't mutually exclusive with being British as someone who's British is a British subject standing under the crown as property and that distinction can be applied to anyone born on crown soil even if it's not English lands so don't sit and talk down to me as a multi generational Englishman who's people have been sure since the start.
British is a political label on your passport documentation and that's all it means and ever will.
You've got a really odd bee in your bonnet about this. Really unsure what point you think I made. I've got an Anglo-Saxon surname, so for what it's worth I've got as ancient English ancestry as anyone.
The point is that the distinction between ethnic and political identity isn't important here. Its neither blood nor passport documentation that makes you more likely to have this sense of humour, it's participation in a certain culture, which exists in Britain, since childhood. This isnt the same as either the political or ethnic identity: if you're 100% purebred Anglo Saxon but you were born and raised in America, you wouldn't be very likely to have this sense of humour. So there's no real meaningful difference between using "British" or "English" to label this cultural inculcation when you're talking about someone who is both.
@@jonathanbeesley9103English and British culture are different though. You’re the one who started to argue and yet you’ve tried to make the other commenter the catalyst. Nobody gives a shite about your ancestry and if it’s so English you’d understand that English culture stood alone is completely different to British, which encompasses Ireland, Wales and Scotland as well as English influence.

@@FlippyD1998 How did it suck?
@@itcouldbelupus2842 I am fine with historical inaccuracy as long as it is to enhance the story. It was just boring. Plus Phoenix could not have gotten Napoleon’s actual character more wrong. In real life he was very charismatic and charming but also arrogant and crass. Basically everything Joaquin’s “joker” caricature of him wasn’t.

Ridley has gone soft in the head.
And Napoleon was a total mess.
@@TheBaconWizardUtter garbage
Prometheus wasn't that bad. At least not as bad as Napoleon.
@@TheBaconWizardNapoleon was awesome though occasionally flawed. It just didn't please frogs and deluded simps of tyrants because ridley absolutely goes against the "great man theory" - or at least he refuses a romantic perspective on it. He shows a pretty nihilistic take on "great" leaders, and most moviegoers aren't ready and mature enough for it. Same goes for The Last Duel, Ridley obviously believes wholeheartedly that power corrupts and mostly the worse kind of people rise to the top of governance. This movie sticks to that unapologetically and I think that's what makes it a classic for me already. Its rare that we see such great moviemaking going against the cultural grain of its times. If you didn't like it because it isn't historically accurate then Ridley is not a storyteller for you.

I watched a show where they gave the viewers the same advice, about not getting too close to your favorite celebrities, if you want to remain an admirer to them.
But as I can see now, the celebrities admire each other in ways only the people in the same carriers could. I think this is how people with same professions end up in love and relationship.

You learn about people via interviews and other avenues. At a British awards ceremony some years ago he won an award and his response was 'what took so long?'. He sounds like an entitled personality. A common trait in egotistical artists is that they can only praise artists that came before them but they'll never praise someone that came after his generation, you can see this in Ridley, Keith Richards, to name a few. Then you have non egotistical artists like David Bowie who praised Trent Reznor or Kurt Cobain.
Bowie was an artist for the ages 💞 Michael Hutchence was like him.
Great take! I much prefer this over the Dark Knight rises, if you were to do a follow up on this I’d suggest rather than Bane, introducing the Riddler(a former GCPD analyst who becomes obsessed with the Dark Knight and does the same research as Hugo Strange and Colman Reese, he’d be more akin to the Arkham Version than Paul Danu or Frank Gorshin), Penguin(now trying to take control of Gotham following Thorne’s and Daggett’s arrest),Deathstroke(an successful League of Shadows recruit and subject to a failed military experiment who is hired by the Riddler to kill Batman) and Robin(either Dick Grayson or Carrie Kelly, who lost their parents to the Joker’s attack) with the plot having Batman carry on in a Gotham where he’s being hunted by the GCPD further worsened by the introduction of the Riddler, a new terrorist obsessed with the Dark Knight and threatening the city. (Batman would also have a new suit, something akin to what we would see in Arkham Knight) Just a suggestion though
