The Hindustan Contessa was a model of car which was manufactured by Hindustan Motors (HM) of India from 1984 to 2002. It was based on the Vauxhall VX Series of 1976 to 1978, itself a development of the Vauxhall Victor FE. When introduced in 1983, it was one of the few Indian manufactured luxury cars in the market. One of its few indigenous competitors was the short-lived Standard 2000 which was based on the Rover SD1 and the Premier 118 NE was based on Fiat 124. The Contessa was a popular choice amongst government officials.

The best Indian car for highway cruising ever made. I had one in 2001 times. The original Isuzu had 74 hp and original Niki carb from Japan. Later versions were tuned to 88 Hp. I had a 1991 88 hp version. The gear stick is at the ideal position for shift during cruising. Also for sudden downshift if you need to overtake. The current modification on this car seems to have pushed the power up to more than 100 hp. My only suggestion is that the high profile wheels don’t really suit the looks of this car. You should’ve maintained the original 13” steel wheel discs to retain that muscle car look - like a Shelby GT cobra look.. Superb work Dajish bro.. ❤️💕

I bet you can build a proper performance engine for it using the 2.6 litre Isuzu crank, connecting rods, etc, the Isuzu Piazza Turbo head, cams, fuel injection set up, turbo charger, intercooler, and manifolds. Add a Megasquirt or Speeduino engine management unit, new injectors, etc, you’ll be in business.

Man contessa is no where close to muscle cars. Its just an old design sedan. Engines r not powerful, body is not built that way, muscle starts from v8 n finishes with somewhere around v12... contessa is merely 4cyl under powered car...u can make it like muscle with engine n trans n diff swap if u find v8 or spend that amount of money.....
