I don't know if it was intentional or not, but that "there's nothing worse than a parent-less child" immediately followed by "you guys excited about that new wendy's down the street" was a really good joke. Dave Thomas, wendy's founder, was adopted himself. He founded a charity in his time that wendy's still supports that is entirely based around helping orphans get connected with permanent families.
I'mma be eating at Wendy's a lot more now
Wait? So if i eat Wendy's, i save the orphans? No more McDonalds from now on i guess...
@@waterunderthebridge2291 The Dave Thomas Foundation is a legit good charity made by Wendy's Founder, and Wendy's does do donation drives for it periodically, but to be very clear eating at Wendy's does not directly support the charity.
I don't want my original comment to mislead people into thinking eating at Wendy's benefits orphans, but donating to the charity that Wendy's supports most definitely does.
Only with Mexican families though, right?

To all the people unsure of how to bring up politics without it devolving into a verbal war between you and your friends/family, I would like to offer some advice.
1) Don’t present your stance as objectively right. The other party will view your stance as an opinion so you have to treat it as such. “I believe ____ because ___” is easier for people to accept than “____ is better than ___”
Small change but goes a long way in how people approach the convo with you.
2) You have to let them speak as well. The difference between a lecture and a discussion is how much feedback both parties are able to contribute.
3) Disagreements are ok! Don’t expect there to be one right answer immediately, that’s what you two are searching for!
The problem is, the other person already IS assuming their stance is objectively right. I have have to treat my stance as "just an opinion" while they do not? Thanks but no thanks!
Cj Villavasso Except that Right-Wingers pretty much always act like they are objectively right, when in reality most views that aren’t Right Wing are the objective ones.
Nah, Even if you do this, It wouldn't work, Everyone believe they're in the right, so it will just end up being another screaming match

If people honestly think that the only reason people don't wanna talk politics is because their ignorant? Then you're narrow minded. In some cases, some people have more knowledge than those that wish to express themselves.
However, they know if they speak their mind it would cause unnecessary tension because the person won't tolerate their stance/opinion. I have seen so many people talk about politics that say things that is severely exaggerated or flat out wrong so you have ignorant people in all sorts of levels. Sadly people in the comment section is going to only think that if someone don't wanna talk about politics, then they're a bigot which is oddly ironic.

Bullshit. Talk about politics wherever you want.
@Anthony Pellham
Yeah, but if you throw a fit over hearing a different opinion, that's wildly unprofessional and should probably be punished.
There's a legitimately good reason why people prefer to not talk about politics, though. It generates conflict, which can be very bad in the workplace as well as other areas. Most people find it better to remain politically ambiguous so that they don't alienate one another with vastly different views. While almost nobody's political views are as outrageous as Grant's in this video, they're guaranteed to make at least somebody less comfortable when revealed.
And people tend to look down on those who disagree with them as if they're terrible people even when they disagree for practical and not ethical reasons
true. just because someone doesn't want to talk politics doesn't mean they're necessarily wrong. In a sense, that's what makes them pretty mature since they choose to avoid conflict because they know the type of person they'll be talking to won't deal with it maturely.
Preach
So we have freedom of speech but arent allowed to use it because it creates conflict?

I don't like politics but it's because I'm a moderate and everybody hates me for sharing the opinion of the party they aren't a part of. It's kinda annoying.
I only take issue with moderates when they fence-sit as a way of trying to seem superior to both sides, like those assholes who say "oh I'm agnostic, atheists and the religious are both wrong". Patently false. God either exists or he doesn't, and planting your flag at "I dunno" doesn't make you look superior. It makes you look uninformed.
@@ometta7 Regarding being agnostic, I don't necessarily think it's about being uninformed. It's hard for us agnostics to plant their flag because we can't prove God exists, nor can we prove God doesn't exist. We can look to science but still not disprove a religious person's arguments, and we can read the Bible and still not gain any evidence that good really exists. We could be informed about the whole science and religious perspective and still not know what to truly believe. Religion is just one of those things lead mostly by faith and not having much evidence + logic-based reasoning, and it's difficult to invest so much of our time and mental capacity to a deity that we cannot visualize, but it is also difficult to dismiss religion entirely because we can't explain why everything exists in the first place, and the existence of God provides an answer to that age-old question. I'm gonna have to choose a side eventually though, and I wonder everyday when that day will come.
Other than that, I somewhat agree on your stance that fence-sitting is not the way to go. I am a moderate myself, but I usually end up choosing either liberal or conservative on different types of issues. Staying on the fence , for me, is usually due to not having enough information or just me being plain indecisive on a really touchy subject. (for example, I'm extremely torn on the 2nd amendment right);
Cryptosporidiosis It's true that nobody can prove whether or not God exists, but being a theist or an atheist isn't a position on knowledge. It's what you believe.
Technically, everyone is agnostic, atheists and believers alike, so choosing agnosticism as a stance on belief is irrelevant. Is there a God? I don't know, but I don't believe there is. Some people (who also don't know) do believe in God. Each have their reasons, neither knows, but we take a stance based on what we believe or reject as unbelievable. Knowledge and belief are not the same thing. You can lack the former and have the latter, but if you have the former you absolutely must have the latter.
I'm a little soupy right now from lack of sleep, so I don't know if I'm making sense, but hopefully I am.
@@ometta7 Your response makes complete sense. I was just saying that because we can't prove nor disprove religion through fact-based evidence, I think it's acceptable to be a fence sitter. Because something like religion is pure belief, it's more of like a soul-searching journey. One really has to find their personal answer on their own and not expect a person, the media, or an organization to give him/her the answer. I believe it is acceptable to still be pending regarding that journey. It is still my own responsibility to definitively find my own answer regarding religion, but currently I am incapable of jumping onto either side of the fence. Thanks for the response!
Cryptosporidiosis Cool, and yeah I can understand your reasoning. I've rejected the belief in a deity due to lack of empirical evidence, but that mainly extends to personal deities that intercede in the lives of humans. A deistic interpretation of a non-interventionist Creator or a deity that died in the act of creation and has yet to be discovered is still somewhat plausible (though I choose to withhold belief until further evidence presents itself), so I can understand how one might be more reluctant to take a hard-line stance, especially if one has had subjective personal experiences that might make deciding harder.
My main gripe wasn't even with agnostics themselves, but rather with people who see agnosticism (or indecision and/or centrism in general) as some sort of "golden path" that places them on some sort of moral or intellectual high ground over people who do take a principled stance on various issues. I can understand not wanting to make a hard choice because you don't feel informed enough on a topic, or seeing the pros and cons of all sides (although I personally tend to have a hard time finding any pros to the "KILL ALL JEWS" stance), but I can't stand it when people are smug about not deciding, or look down on those who do decide.

It's so weird to me that some people pretend they can just "not talk politics" when in reality the private IS highly political. Politics is not a separate sphere of existence that you can just exclude yourself from.
How to identify the guy who stays out of politics in any situation: He's the guy with the genuine smile and positive vibe who seems to actually be enjoying life.
Because he doesn’t feel the need to shove his politics down peoples throats on a comedy channel
*cough modern college humor *cough
necro nerd Ok, then don’t watch Collegehumor then. They’ve always been political.
necro nerd Keep holding that turd buddy.
necro nerd So you think them saying anything that isn’t evil Right-Wing bs is “shoving it down your throat”? If you are a Right-Winger than you are just another example of irony not being in the republican dictionary.
And in doing so directly facilitates the continued oppression of minorities and financially disenfranchised with his apathy. What a great guy!
“Why don’t you talk politics?” Because you’ll throw an adult tantrum if I disagree with you...
u think black people should sing the national anthem, dont u? thats what this is about, isnt it?
@@Sydney-Casket-Base why not its the national anthem of the country i don't understand hahah
Technically, "wrong opinions" violates the definition of opinion
Co11in__ hmm yeah I guess, but what if your opinion is factually wrong?
what if for example you say that we shouldn't house homeless people?
it's cheaper and more moral, that's a fact (assuming you have the same morals that the less people homeless the better)
Co11in__ Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However. Those opinions can be objectively, factually wrong. E.G. my opinion is the sky is red. Well, that is objectively incorrect while still my "opinion".
The Generic Guy but who's to say what's wrong?
an opinion and stating an incorrect fact is 2 different things.
Jessen's Channel thank you
This is what political people feel when they talk to people who try to change the subject. Always on edge.
I don't like to talk about politics because it's simple
*Politics bore me.*
In a way, politics are like stock market: most people act like they have the intelligence to talk about them but in reality only a very few actually understand how they work.
"Are you sure they're not fighting with you because what you say is offensive and wrong?"
That is NEVER a reason to fight with someone.
a lot of people in these comments are exactly the person this skit is parodying…
Oh no someone is parodying me...I should seriously rethink my behaviour 😥...ah, wait, they actually parody pretty much everyone because they have a good sense of humour
Don't let people brainwash you into caring about politcs you'll live a much happier productive life without it
I don't think it's bad to not want to discuss politics. People refuse to talk about it because it's impossible to change someone's political stance on anything. Debating has gone from a way to change someone's mind to just boosting your own ego and strengthening your beliefs be refusing to listen to the other side.
Right... when one person's talking to the 'Opposing Viewpoint, O.V. ain't listening, but is thinking about a way to 'win' at any price. WTH...
@@f.c.7590 If the goal was to each understand not just what the other person believes, but why... and what evidence they base it on... maybe people could develop more informed viewpoints by discussing politics. But as you say, far too often the goal is instead to 'win'. Which, since it generally doesn't actually convince anyone (especially if one is disrespectful and doesn't bother quoting sources and such), isn't really a win.
You have some rose colored glasses about how things used to be.
I’m that guy. I am sick of talking about politics.
The same way people who suck at math dont do math. It's because you're not informed.
@@usffan5775 or it's because they realise that politics aren't worth the bullshit caused by people who are radical about politics
Drixenol86 exactly shits annoying because both sides gets triggered over their opinions and beliefs
USF Fan difference is math can be fun if you’re good at it, talking politics is either an ass-pat circlejerk or shouting at a brick wall
“i agree with Grant” you aren’t supposed to.
i hate how much grant's legs are spread because i feel like if he adjusted himself his laptop would fall to the ground
First I felt ashamed for relating with Grant in this sketch, so I started to search about politics daily. Now when someone ask me about politics I only agree with the person I'm talking to and quote the report I read to avoid a fight, and compare the politician they don't like to some movie/tv villain so we can talk about what I like.
Does this make me a sociopath?
I’m sorry but this is a 14 year olds idea of what a sociopath is 😂
Meanwhile I'm buying flags, pins, stickers, and the anarchist cookbook all to match my ideologies.
The Anarchist Cookbook isn't that good tbh, I'd recommend CrimethInc's _Recipes for Disaster_ instead
I find that the crazier the person the more they want to talk about politics
best comment on this video.
Take a shot every time katie and rehka say ugh
These are levels of straw man I thought were not possible
I usually try to change the subject when politics are involved just because It just causes more unnecessary drama
Exactly. A friend just stopped talking to me today because i said that i think Trump would do a better job than Biden. 🤷🏼♂️ I guess its worth loosing friends over nothing
“Black people should have to sing me the national anthem” is just 👌👌👌👌
I don't trust people who say they don't like to talk about politics because usually that's code for "I don't give a shit about current events that affect other people".
People who are reluctant to share their views though, I'm cool with.
I love talking politics. It's interesting (although sometimes depressing) to see why people believe the things they do. Not to mention sometimes they have new perspectives and solutions I haven't considered before.
Wait till the end 😂🤣
Aaron Glisson haha, Got there, now i'm dead XDD
Ooh boy, more misrepresentation of opinions to make one side look bad!
What happen? Im so confused.
The video amounted to-
"Politics annoys me"
"The forces of College Humor will antagonize your position!"
"I still hate politics. By the way I'm now a random racist straw man because we can't have a non biased perspective on the most middle road topic ever. We're college humor, we're below that."
As a non-american, i have to ask, what is the joke? I guess its racist but what exactly is the joke here?
This video should have been funny, but the premise made me upset.
Just because someone doesn't like talking about politics doesn't mean they have crazy opinions. It could mean a lot of things; maybe they haven't looked into a policy enough to make an informed opinion, maybe they have an opinion that's unpopular in their area but still well-founded, maybe they are just tired of all the anger that politics generates and just want to go one fucking day without hearing the same lazy political joke.
It's a comedy sketch, buddy-meaning it's silly.
Bad day?
Third one; I'm going with the third one. One day without hearing about whiny leftists or Trump is like a vacation.
That's the point other people's politics sound kooky to you on paper...
Jamestown buddy, it’s not that serious
I don't like talking about politics because I don't feel that we actually have power to affect these subjects.
I hate talking about politics because there's almost no point nothing will change no matter how much I talk about it and it just sucks
Meh. I don't like the whole "If I don't agree with your opinion, you shouldn't be allowed to have one" mentality.
Meh. No one likes that 'mentality'.
Except for leftists who want to shut up conservatives by calling them all alt-right racist homophobe sexist bigots.
z8ph0d nice strawman.
Also where promotes the Video this idea?
these girls in the vid had that mentality
"Illegal immigrants should fight in the Hunger Games"
Y’know what...that’s interesting to do with criminals
There’s a three sacred rules about not to talk about. Religion. Politics. And which superhero is better.
Judging by this sketch, I would hazard a guess that a lot of people with very normal opinions don't want to talk about politics because they don't want to be perceived as something they are absolutely not.
This is why I avoid these kinds of conversations
They allways end with someone unhappy
I think I'm going to intentionally ridiculous viewpoints like this as a way to casually dismiss and patronize people when they ask me to talk about politics.
Arrestingly accurate. Hilariously, both extremes--the guy who hates to talk politics and the guy who turns everything into a political debate--skew overwhelmingly right
*_Oh I'm not brave enough for politics._*
"Politics makes us all idiots." That's 100% true.
A person who doesn't want to start shit? I don't have a problem with that...
yeah, leave that to the grown-ups, smart one
Nope, any age.
YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME WITH THESE ILLUMINATI SIGN god damn cant stop seeing them
As a pretty central person a lot of the time I try not to get political around people who are fully left or fully right, as they may get offended that I disagree with their views or dislike their favourite politician. I see negatives on both sides. I don't like being demonised for having differing views, especially since objectively neither end of the spectrum is better than the other.
That is what is call trolling the people that make you talk about politics. You don't have to believe it, but if you can come up with the most off the wall ideas they will stop asking you to talk about it.
People don't talk about politics because no matter what you say will be offensive to someone.
Faith Wilson I think pretty much anything could be offensive to someone.
Congrats on being the subject of this video, and still not getting the point of it.
Witty Username I believe this is ACTUALLY why people don’t talk about politics and it’s kind of frustrating to see them mocking people with differing (in their case, non-liberal) who don’t bring them up because they’re afraid that their (again, in CH’s case, very liberal) friends are going to judge them as say that they are some kind of monster.
ᚴᚢᚦ ᚢᛁᚴᛁ if your beliefs actively hurt your friends (I.e. you don’t believe in gay rights but your friend is gay) then yeah. You are a monster. Politics isn’t a silly game or a fun discussion topic. It’s literally life or death for some people. It’s fucking important, and if you think that your ideals will get you labeled “monster”, then maybe you should sit down and think about why that is, rather than just whining about how no one wants to hear you spout bullshit.
We don’t live in a contextless world-stop acting we do.
Witty Username I agree that in certain cases, this absolutely true, but I also think that in most cases of people who don’t like talking about politics because they’re afraid of what their friends might think, this is not the case. I thus consider it logical to choose the norm over the exception in this case, whilst still acknowledging its existence.
"Politics made everybody mad."
Meanwhile politics in South Africa:
*Government condom advertisement*
Do you mean condemn advertisement or is the South African Government advertising condoms?
@@CybernerdShua South African gov advertises condoms. It's to help educate people quicker than just schools.
Best deterrent for political conversations:
* I believe none of this is real and we're all in the matrix
* None of this matters since we're all being watched and controlled by aliens
* I believe in anarchy and all of this political debate should never exist
any more?
