I put this in my favourites because I can and because it brings me back to the Calders and the Dales. I wish i could be there every Spring., rain or shine! Northern England ... it's all too beautiful indeed to quote mymarriott ,,,,yes it is.

That almost brought tears to my eyes. The older part of my family lived in Heptonstall and the film shows 2 houses they lived in. I was born in Hebden Bridge but my old house is now a grass verge. Lovely memories

@@geoffmal49 I haven't seen Chris for a very long time. Last time I saw Gerry he was living in Bacup. No idea if he's still there.

This all happened in 1971, thank God the Hippies came, it was the first year Hebden Bridge had an Arts festival, I know because I was there, we couldn't afford a honeymoon so we stayed put in Hebden, great time, you couldn't even buy proper spaghetti before these wonderful people arrived, I remember a fabulous restaurant called Strays, everybody shared their food on tressle tables, wonderful.

If it all happened in 1971 then that would likely not be the 'New Age Travelers' aka The Convoy of the eighties. But Hippies.

@@MikeGreenwood51 There were Hippies, there were various religious and political communes in squats, the Teepee People came up from Wales and made a camp up Hardcastle Crags. There was a biker gang called the War Pigs. A mixed bunch.

Thanks for that mate. haven't been there since the late 70's still looks the same though. Heptonstall that is. I used to work in the Tythe Barn restaurant between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd in 1988. Closed down in that year too if I remember something to do with money laundering.
