You haven't read Lovecraft at all, and it's very noticeable. He never had outer gods, which Derleth added to general cosmology a few years later, but Lovecraft did not. Lovecraft's gods were never described by mere "infinity" because defining their scale by that alone is the cruelest insult. Even the gods of the earth surpass the infinite hierarchies of dream planes, where the next step sees below as an illusion of reality, and then such a hierarchy expands from infinity, to such a perspective, where the entire detailed hierarchy is not a different integrity that has one scale, that is, you do not see the difference between some 1 and 100¹⁰⁰ or ∞ layer, all are equally insignificant. And after such expansions passes 2, that's the level of the gods of the earth. And do you seriously think that your description of "infinity" now looks anything but funny?
@justred8288 actually the only time the word "omnipotent" was used by HP Lovercraft was to describe Yog Sothoth. As Yog is the verse itself. Yog encompasses all of reality, he is the reason why all the other god's are stuck in the void.

A quick note; Cthulhu isn't one of the strongest in the mythos or even a god. He's the high priest of a civilization of aliens called the Great Old Ones. He's godlike in that he can't be killed and can influence people's dreams, but that seems to be the extent of his power.
As for the words of another youtuber (i don't Remember It perfectly) "we can't put yog sothot higher than azathoth on the scale because he Is the scale" or something along those lines
I should clarify that when he mentioned that they "View other elder gods as humans" it more or so means that those gods aren't able to properly perceive beings like Yogsothoth. You know, like how we'd have trouble with Cthulhu, Cthulhu has trouble with him. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
TL:DR CZcams short guy is wrong about quite a few things. Like usual you know. Just corrections if you feel like reading. It’s “The Other Gods” not “Outer Gods”. Lovecraft has never once stated them to be “Outer Gods”. That was coined by a video game made 40 or so years after Lovecraft’s death. Secondly Azathoth isn’t a dreamer of world bro just likes to eat when he is awake and turns out when you are the 2nd most powerful being in said verse no one is gonna be able to stop him from eating. Yog doesn’t care so everyone but him would be eaten. The Myth stems from a writer who Lovercraft was a fan of. The being in the writing is in a oldly similar situation as Azathoth where a being id playing drums to keep him asleep and if the being lets up for even a second the being wakes up and reality ends. This is not an extension of Lovecraft’s work. It isn’t even stated anywhere that Azathoth is a dreamer of worlds. Not anywhere in 100 stories is it remotely implied. Not only that it’s stated otherwise where if Azathoth wakes up he’s just gonna start eating and existence gets gobbled up. Other than Yog of course. And Thirdly Nyal hit Azathoth on the head but it did no damage so no Azathoth would dawg everybody in the verse other than Yog if he was let loose. It’s actually stated that Nyal is afraid of Azathoth which should already say enough about it.
So some of the main things that I had known about the Lovecraft Mythos is a lie. So the universe isn't Azathoth's dream and he and the others aren't known as "Outer Gods", it's all been a lie!?
@@JJWolfordrather not a lie, just misconceptions. the azazoth dreaming idea came from a writer named dunsany. in his book, gods of pegana, a being known as mana yood sushai who does dream the universe and like azazoth, is kept asleep by gods, just for a different reason. dunsany was a huge inspiration to lovecraft and there are definitely similarities in their works. as for the outer gods thing, i really have no clue why that game called them outer gods, since lovecraft never called that. there was one story (i believe dunwich horror but idk) where they were called ultimate gods which is cool
Yog-Sothoth is the only character Lovecraft EVER said was omnipotent. He literally said there is no way to scale it.... He stated it would be beyond fiction. 👀
To be exact axathorh doesn’t dream reality, music was played by amorphous flute players to put him to sleep cause they were eating all the other gods, and the first blow of the flute was so strong that the laws of reality itself came into existence. (And that much power only make azathoth sleepy). And yog isn’t the strongest. Azathoth is the granfather of yog themself, and by extension yog power came from azathoth. To be exact yog power level can’t be measured cause yog is NOT in that verse yog is THE VERSE.
The family tree was a joke created by Lovecraft and his friend in order to satirize genealogy and how people obsesses over their bloodline. You could even see that both Lovecraft and his friend are included in the family tree just to show how nonsensical it is.
Yog-Sothoth doesnt really have a place in the heirarchy... rather, he IS the heirarchy. The All-In-One. The Guardian of the Gate between the material, and the void
Cthulhu is nowhere near to being one of the strongest Outer gods, his "physical" form was wrecked by a boat and in his true form he eats stars for sustenance but that's NOTHING compared to hierarchy of Outer gods, each one transcending the one before it
Ok to be clear, Azathoth gets whooped by Yog simply because as the supreme archetype he represents the whole of Cuthulu mythos (including azathoth) so its like saying that a sentient big toe or tooth could beat a whole human being
From what i know and understand of the mythos Yogsothoth is literally existence itself you see the chari that yog you see that movile that's yog you see chathullu that yog too everything is yog
People think that Azathoth is dreaming reality. This is false. If you look through Lovecrafts work this is never stated. Azathoth is merely one of the most powerful. He will is asleep because the other gods are keeping him contained by trumpeters strong enough to keep him asleep. When he wakes, he will destroy the world.

As far as I know the 2 most powerful characters in fiction are Yogsothoth and Vishnu. They are eerily similar in the way that they are the much more powerful version of the more famous beings (azathoth and shiva) If they fought then they would both deal one blow that would either kill both or neither of them but will destroy everything everywhere forever. Not like eternity forever I mean till infinite endings of infinite endings happen. Of course Brahman and Mahesh are also on par with Vishnu but he’s the supreme creator. They’re the supreme preserver and destroyer so he made them.

Ah, sir, Cthulhu isn’t a Elder God or a Outer God. He’s a Other God or Ultimate God, same as Azathoth, You-Sothoth, Shub and Nyarlathotep. Outer God came from a game that came out 40 years after Lovecraft died
Man, Cthulhu althou extremely powerful, it is just an Old one and its power is nothing if compared to outer Gods powers... Cthulhu is just the most used in media and games.

Azathoth should still be above him, in a letter to Clark Ashton Smith on the 17th October, 1930, and can be found in the book "Dawnward Spire, Lonely Hill" by Hippocampus press, HP clearly says "the mindless Lord of Nighted Chaos who is the father of all other horrors & is coeval with the Ultimate Abyss itself", also, the distance between a lower / higher dimension is always INFINITE, but that doesn't equal strength, but yes, they would be able to apply force from impossible directions, which again doesn't equal to being stronger, its basically fighting Aizen after being caught by the KS, you would be hit without knowing... but aizen can still be beat (Yhwach) the same for other 'higher dimension' beings.

@@Datscrazi231 Aboriginal, have you ever read Lovecraft's books? The theme with infinity is a perspective exclusively working on the material plane, which is already annihilated on the worlds of dreams. What are you talking about, idiot?
Infinite^infinite is not defined
@justred8288 actually the only time the word "omnipotent" was used by HP Lovercraft was to describe Yog Sothoth. As Yog is the verse itself.
Yog encompasses all of reality, he is the reason why all the other god's are stuck in the void.
@@-NO_ Yog is not really verse itself, but a small part of whole cosmology

Yog and azathoth immeasurable layyers into boundless how can yog be high outer ☠️
Yog is beyond tiering fr
Because Azathoth is part of Yog and Yog is literally EVERYTHING. Including the great old ones and outer gods. Hell, even concepts.
It’s cool how Yog sothoth is omniscient which means he knows everything at any moment in the universe, he can control time and spacetime.
The gut from pirates of the carbien guy
Yog is just the grandchlild trying to show his grandpa how the internet works.
Azathoth does not dream reality.
says who? the Mythos has no official canon and anybody can add to it. if someone thinks Azathoth dreams reality then it's just as valid as any other idea.
So with your bullshit logic, humans in that Verse are omnipotent gods if we say so 😂
@@anthonylyle2687They CAN be. A human destroyed Azathoths' father in one of Lovecrafts' stories.
@@PlaidSuitPinstripeWorldYou know, for something to be considerable as canon you need more than just your own head. I cannot call my creations canon, i must have them be faithfull to this fictional universe and validated by many others.
A quick note; Cthulhu isn't one of the strongest in the mythos or even a god. He's the high priest of a civilization of aliens called the Great Old Ones. He's godlike in that he can't be killed and can influence people's dreams, but that seems to be the extent of his power.
Epic🔥
As for the words of another youtuber (i don't Remember It perfectly) "we can't put yog sothot higher than azathoth on the scale because he Is the scale" or something along those lines
-Literary Who episode "How powerful is Yogsothoth" (or something like that)
I should clarify that when he mentioned that they "View other elder gods as humans" it more or so means that those gods aren't able to properly perceive beings like Yogsothoth. You know, like how we'd have trouble with Cthulhu, Cthulhu has trouble with him. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
bro, cthulu is the most weak creature in the lovecraft verse
in the other gods pantheon he is, but compared to the essentially every other creature, theyre essentially ants
@@CompadeGD I don't even care about Lovecraft at all anymore.
Other gods is cannon. Outer gods is from a Lovecraftian video game.
Lovecraft gods and creatures are epic
Yog-Sothoth is the only character Lovecraft EVER said was omnipotent. He literally said there is no way to scale it.... He stated it would be beyond fiction. 👀
Cthulhu : " nah id win "
Ayo joseph with the 3.04
No way you ware gone say “heigh outerversal”
To be exact axathorh doesn’t dream reality, music was played by amorphous flute players to put him to sleep cause they were eating all the other gods, and the first blow of the flute was so strong that the laws of reality itself came into existence. (And that much power only make azathoth sleepy). And yog isn’t the strongest. Azathoth is the granfather of yog themself, and by extension yog power came from azathoth. To be exact yog power level can’t be measured cause yog is NOT in that verse yog is THE VERSE.
Yog is Az's grandson... try again.
Yog still inf layers into boundless.
The family tree was a joke created by Lovecraft and his friend in order to satirize genealogy and how people obsesses over their bloodline. You could even see that both Lovecraft and his friend are included in the family tree just to show how nonsensical it is.
@@Murphy_LawWhat about the other family tree made by his friend though?
@@Murphy_Law Yeah, but couldn't he just place Yog as the top being? Why Azathoth specifically?
Yog-Sothoth doesnt really have a place in the heirarchy... rather, he IS the heirarchy. The All-In-One. The Guardian of the Gate between the material, and the void
Cthulhu is nowhere near to being one of the strongest Outer gods, his "physical" form was wrecked by a boat and in his true form he eats stars for sustenance but that's NOTHING compared to hierarchy of Outer gods, each one transcending the one before it
High outer to boundless?
Fuck no he is beyond scaling
There's no characther beyond scaling
@@Facethecap do you mean the god of the Jews and the supreme being of MCU? both dont exceed the transcendental category
Ok to be clear, Azathoth gets whooped by Yog simply because as the supreme archetype he represents the whole of Cuthulu mythos (including azathoth)

No, he does not dream existence. It’s just when he wakes up, he eats all of existence

Yes, he dreams of reality, why not? It's actually stated many times, that dreams are more fundamental spheres of cosmos, than waking existence
I thought Azothoth was the strongest, too. But I was proven wrong :( I thought he dreams reality but there was no indication that he did. Not even Poem 22 from Fungi from Yuggoth that Lovecraft wrotr 😢
They’re the supreme preserver and destroyer so he made them.

fun fact: its name is not actually azathoth but a random word that some guy made up to asighn this terrible unknowable creture a word to describe it in his writings

No
You should put this much we into our real God lol
Yog sothoth is not beyond the key, he is the key and the gate. He is the key to azathoths awakening, or something like that
Ah, sir, Cthulhu isn’t a Elder God or a Outer God. He’s a Other God or Ultimate God, same as Azathoth, You-Sothoth, Shub and Nyarlathotep. Outer God came from a game that came out 40 years after Lovecraft died

Yog is literally everything omnipresent omnipotent omniscient but somehow evil and existence isn’t destroyed when azathoth wakes up he’s just asleep because he was to powerful not stronger then yog obviously but the other outer gods put him asleep and yog is LITERALLY everything and is boundless
Azathoth is yog sothoth's dad. Also Yog-Sothoth represents the all-in-one aspect of the Supreme archetype while Azathoth is dreamer of supreme archetypem. Azathoth has more power but yog sothoth has more influence.
correct Azathoth is the Supreme Being, the most powerful and Yogs dad. But Aza doesnt do anything while Yog is active.
If they were considered he, Azathoth would be the grandfather. The outer gods are formless and the concept of power is meaningless to them.
Kinda sad people paying this guy for fictional character scaling 😂
The Azathot dreaming of reality saying is not proven as it was never stated and if that was the truth then Yog would've been part of it's " dream " so weaker .

The space between the silver gates is stated to be as long as the journey to the gate itself which is every dream world and they have infinite length lets say you got a scale and you would probably think that we would PUT yogsothoh higher then azathoth right? Wrong yog sothoh IS the scale as yog sothoh is and will be everything that will and exists
