ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Part 1 of a 5 part montage of Sci-fi art from the second Golden Age of Science Fiction when books, magazines and films had some of the most amazing and memorable covers/artwork from artists like Peter Elson, Angus Mckie, Chris Foss and Tim White and John Berkey. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
This is more than 40 years old yet still excites me more than any current sci fi.
Chris Foss is such a boss.
i love this old school art, thanks for posting it.
I finally have the visual representation of what my dreams from childhood looked like. Profound. I could never adequately describe what these images so beautifully portray.
Thank you LV, this futumistic vibes are so warm to much of us... i often come to your videos to recover that inspiration :)
I’m very pleased to hear that and in turn I’m inspired to make more, having neglected the channel while trying to get through the whole plague chaos….
Frighteningly vivid detail work. Awesome in execution and style.....it's like this could be a possible future.
Kick ass! I got my wish! More Tangerine Dream! I love how you've mixed it up for each part. See? Now, I'm gonna have to go and download T.D. for a new playlist. It's just so trippy..like being in a planetarium! Thanks, Dude. Insta-sub! Ya got mine and thumbs way up! 👍
my heart beats faster wondering what will the future look like? i wish to live longer
Sir, look up SENS immortality.
Amazing dreams, fine art at the same time, we don't see much of these concepts now, some how it revolutionized the way sci-fi art was conceived.
4:32 The Proximan K9 Goblin, IIRC, long-range missile carrier, armed with the Medusa missile and its "dirty" thermonuclear warhead that ravaged the surface of Mars during the War, leaving many areas too radioactive to enter for many years to come.
this is the most magical stuff I've seen on youtube, this channel deserver millions of subcribers and I'll make sure that happens
I've seen that image presented both ways and after some slight research decided that was the right way, or at least the better of the two options given. So many images depict space ships coming into the scene from above. After all there is no up or down in space. Thanks for watching.
Nor can screams be heard.
@@scottimo3671 In space no one can hear you scream.
Reminds me of a quote, our current civilization is still nowhere near what these concepts dreamt of over 60 years ago.
“Old Earthers had focused their intelligence on the small and the soft, not the big and the hard, and built a civilization that was puny and crumbling where physical infrastructure was concerned, but astonishingly sophisticated when it came to networked communications and software.”
― Neal Stephenson, Seveneves
Never read him, I'll have to get around to adding him to my list given how highly regarded his books are....
great vid, I think I reconized a pic or two.
Good old Jim Burns. wish all the pix had artist's names... Foss used to hide an F somewhere. Tim White I had forgotten.
absolutely gorgeous
In the '70s this looked futuristic and it still does now. Seems like the future was postponed.
Wow thanks you
Well as an artist myself I am old school and I keep this style alive in my own work. None of that cgi stuff. I do large paintings of sci fi concepts all the time. and its endless whatever my imagination comes up with BAM I am at hard work realizing and conceptualizing such crazy ideas in the form of models and paintings. Only thing is none of my work is published or known which I kind of like that because I like being a hidden gem among the masses so to speak. lol Oh maybe some day Ill publish my work but for now its my own world.
Also, as an artist, I'd like to see your work. As for publishing it, you have many channels open to you today if you ever decided to go down that route....
Nicely done, great drawings before 'Heavy Metal', some fiction, man not going there, Earth rocks!
Saw 2:15 and imediately thought: Cell Phone?
A real treat, thank you.
No Man's Sky got their inspiration in these futuristic style arts.
Mor Mikiss! nice!
awesome, thx
A trip out into the far out.
this is nice i was looking for this kind of art ,i used to buy magazines with those themes, great work and fantastic music.thanks!!!!
1:25 Looks like a Star Wars Trade Federation ship lol
X🤘🏻X
I really like that one at 4:50
muy bueno..
i still have some these books.
The music sounds like incidental music from Dr Who in the early 80s
While some Dr Who incidental music has its charms I wouldn’t say it compares to Tangerine Dream.
Aw, that's gotta be Tim White! : )@ 2:06
The one and only.
The image on 6:26 is upright. Everything may look upside down but if you look at the space station at the bottom, you see the number 4 printed in light blue and it appears as it should. The image is absolutely in the correct position either way though.
No up or down in space.
7:34 it's the mothman
I had a book from Chris Foss as a teenager and I have seen some of the other pictures. In the C.F. book was something like: "..If the human race ever will explore the outer space, the starships will look something like C.F.s creations not the boring shit NASA is building."
There's a great book still out with a collection of Foss' works.
Some of these images look like the covers for the 70's editions of many sci fi books such as penned by Asimov??
Yes, classic cover artwork, sometimes (oftimes?) better than the book.
Who knows 4:43 ?? I LOVE IT
Tim White cover for Lord of Spiders.
1960's "Future visions"?
2020 the year of no future
imagine living a 1000 years from now
If humanity survives that long or we enter an new dark age due to war/s, then I imagine it will be a very crowded and very controlled world.
I'm curious, who did the art for :16 - :43?
STAAT USA US ARMY 5 Schlüsseln Vision of Future Part 5 of 5 Höchst Fabrik 1984 / 1985
Anybody see the movie Gentleman Broncos
Um... the picture that comes in around 06:26 is upside-down.
Just thought you should know.
your right it is.
I've seen that image presented both ways. Both work. Less imposing but more dramatic this way.
Yeh but this looks like "cloud cities" on a type of pedestal in a planetary atmosphere, therefor this is upside down.
It's been presented both ways.
spoiler alert
This is basically like the history of star wars empire
so the future is going to be all sleek, caucasian, chrome, and hovering things
Pretty much. Until AI takes over and kills everyone.
2:22 - most boringest space ship ever, looks like a VHS tape
i wish there wasnt so much panning
"Most boringest"? Fucking hell.
Have you lost your mind fool!
