My father took me here in the late 1950’s. I grew up in the DC area. Working shift work in DC I would visit here prior to work. Just absolutely overwhelming ! I have purchased items from the gift shop online, many beautiful types of rosary beads.

The Basilica in Baltimore has nice architecture too. The Baltimore Basilica is the first Catholic Basilica in the US. They even have underground crypt sections.
I grew up near DC. Before I understood any of the chapels and what they meant I felt a strong feeling of peace and also otherworldly ness in the crypt museum

Your video captured sights that I did not get to see (though I saw quite a bit) because of our limited time there on a busy tour schedule.
I don't think this building nor the national cathedral get enough attention. Even though I am atheist, these jewels of devotion are a privilege to visit. I was lucky enough to visit this shrine several times as a child. I hope to go again and to visit the national cathedral for the first time.

Fantastic building, but all the fairy tales associated with the imaginations and beliefs are mind numbingly stupid. this is a fantastic piece of work indeed, HUMAN work, nothing else. they should list the names of all who built it and maintain it. on a plague
But if there was no fairy tales as you say the building would not have even been built. There would be "rational" architecture in its place (no ornaments, bare concrete or all glass wall). Christianity is dying anyway so you may even witness thing church getting demolished sadly.

Very not true. The staff there are very kind and helpful, and not once have I experienced any discriminatory or hateful act from them. The Parking staff however aren’t the best.
If I lived close by I would spend EVERY day (daily Mass) in this magnificent House of the Lord.
