Orson Welles on Buster Keaton - Short tribute 🍿

Figura leggendaria nel mondo del cinema, Buster Keaton è riconosciuto come uno dei più grandi comici e registi della storia.
Cresciuto rapidamente sotto l'ala protettiva di Roscoe Arbuckle (che successivamente difese strenuamente da gravissime accuse legali e morali), sviluppò rapidamente un suo stile personale di recitazione e poi di regia che lo portarono all'enorme successo.
Mel Brooks, Woody Allen e Steven Spielberg sono solo infatti solo alcuni dei grandi cineasti della storia che si sono fortemente ispirati a lui per quanto riguarda l'azione e la comicità.
Keaton è noto come il "primo stuntman del cinema" grazie alla partecipazione diretta in riprese di scene di azione complesse e pericolosissime, elemento di supporto delle gag visive uniche per le quali è ricordato ancora oggi.
Vi consigliamo, per farvi un'idea della sua precisione e delle sue capacità acrobatiche, vi consigliamo di guardare alcuni dei film da lui diretti ed interpretati come "Senti, amore mio", "La palla nº 13" e "Come vinsi la guerra" (in originale rispettivamente "Three Ages", "Sherlock, Jr." e "The General").

@@InMedia_Res it’s a taste issue, it’s your channel you can do whatever you want but if you study Buster Keaton films and see what music was used in actual movie theatres at that time it was mostly piano accompaniment and the music was there only to help interpret the visuals not to dominate them. In your choice of of the clarinet taking a hectic jazzy lead role undermines Buster Keaton’s performances. Your video looks like the music is the leader and Buster Keaton is the one who accompanies the music not the other way around.

@@operationnevergiveup2718 We see your point of view, which is very valid. We didn't keep to the original musical spirit accompanying Keaton's movies because by showcasing re-edited stunts we felt the original spirit (including rhythmic language) was already denaturalised.
We have to make choices. We showcase different aspects of movies, in different videos, by changing aspect ratios, music, even shot, scene or sequence order. Sometimes we even mix different movies together, in an effort to educate about parallels present in the cinematic spectrum. We do these things respectfully and in a way that makes both the intent and the manipulation very clear. And we believe it can be done. Take as an example Giorgio Moroder's version of Metropolis, showcasing very modern electronic music along the movie, to enhance the movie but preserving it's meaning.
