- A low budget documentary made by Roland van Reenen shot in Suriname
NATURAL FOOD PLAYS A MAJOR PART WITHIN RASTAFARI LIVITY. IT IS CALLED ITAL. A MAINLY VEGETARIAN LIFESTYLE, AVOIDING CHEMICAL ADDITIVES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. FROM THE START OF THE MOVEMENT ON RASTAS GREW THEIR OWN FOOD WITHOUT CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS AND CHEMICAL PESTICITES. IN ONE WORD ORGANIC.
IN THIS AGE OF FAST FOOD, GENETIC MODIFIED FOOD (GMO) AND THE EVER INCREASING USE OF CHEMICAL ADDITIVES IN OUR DAILY FOOD, AN INCREASING NUMBER OF RASTAS RETURN TO THE COUNTRYSIDE TO GROW THEIR OWN FOOD. THEY SIMPLY DON’T TRUST INDUSTRIAL FOOD ANYMORE.
THESE PLANTERS DON’T RECEIVE AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR THEIR ORGANIC PRODUCTS. A DISTRIBUTIONNETWORK WHICH GUARANTEE BOTH QUALITY AND A FAIR PRICE FOR PLANTER AND CONSUMER NEEDS TO BE DEVELOPED.
Jah knows a man who feeds him self by planting is not a slave to no one
My boy Rasta got a lot of respect
Geweldige video van de rasta's in sranang. Big respect and love! Als ik in Sranang bevind ga ik deze plek opzoeken.
Love the song and the words at the end. Radical shift indeed! Needed.

Awesome video! Very insightful and the shirtless smiling guy is very cute! ^-^
I'm so excited to watch this, but it is very difficult to read the subtitles. I can understand just a little of the spoken words and only 50% of the subtitle words so I'm only receiving a portion of the teaching.
VIVA O RASTAFARI NO SURINAME
I love how they talk "dutch" :)
Surinamese speak dutch, not "dutch". The folks in the video speak Sranan tongo, with a few dutch words here and there. Its a choice to speak like that. But everywhere, in schools etc. unfortunately dutch still is the official language, Just like the dutch speak "straattaal" This street language has a lot of Sranan words, But dutch is your official language. There are many accents of dutch. In and outside of the Netherlands.
is only the reporter who talking dutch, them speaking Sranan tongo
have a black bar with the subtitles. white font on the screen makes it very hard to see. why bother. i made out a few words then paused to comment and leave. might have had a good message, too bad.
Ises to him who provide young kings honorable
It is good farming. Sad that they had to cut part of the forest, but it is so much more sustainable than the deforestation caused by the conventional agriculture in the world. (No soil erosion/pollution either!)
Good video good topic maybe some organic subtitling would help lol. Having to repeatedly pause video in order to read.
+1
🍃👑🍃Super super Jolie-😘 😍 bisous jah bless you 👄 💛 💚
Jah Rastafari!
Good video! What is the song in the beginning of the video?
Jah sun - no bones no blood
no bones no blood
what language are these dudes speaking, I heard bits of English. Is it some sort or patois? Sounds like Jamiacan patois but with less English.
Surinamese
daar zit nederlands in :)
9:17 see the plant left down corner 😜
Peace family
Hey Roland, waar is dit?
If you look at the mess we created at the moment, with the big supermarkets, the cheap/bad/cancer & disease causing foods and now the N2/CO2 strikes. It’s so contradicionary to what people need. These guys are take farming back to what it should really be. Not buying the seeds who don’t reproduce, but create biodiversity in your own garden. And I’m sure they don’t earn much money but they live, are healthy and doing something they like. I’m certainly going to visit them some time \, YaMan
100% autoproduction
haha he say to protect from the cold.. what cold! :p i grow bananas on my native island, -5 celcius is what i deal with, brrr
suriname , don't hear much of this place
All I can see is 2 types of Rastafari , two are organic , the other chemicals and technological .
