I like their "Rock Hard" release. 6 year old MGP that rested in Texas. Reminds me of WT101. Great pour whether neat, on a rock or in a cocktail.

I want.....I need.... Crowded Barrel to do well because I love Whiskey Tribe content, I'm Texan, and I like the concept of a crowd funding distillery. Love finding you, the Junkies, and a few other I could mention though as I've been bitten by the bourbon bug. The "How to Hide Whiskey from your Wife" is me right now!

Hi Matt - I think CB’s relatively recent Alliance ASM bottling from Andalusia is amazing, but I say that as someone who drinks way more Scotch than bourbon or rye. I probably would really dig that Balcones, as I’ve yet to have a Balcones ASM that I didn’t like.
The Andalusia release is so good. I should’ve gotten more than one because I’m almost out lol

I’ve had a couple Alliance Series bottles from Crowded Barrel (They’re in south west Austin and I’m in north east Austin) and they were very hit or miss for me. One was phenomenal (definitely my jam) and one was quite odd (definitely not my jam) so I can understand where you’re coming from. I absolutely love all of their Eleanor series bottles, though.
For me the best thing I have tried from CB is the Hydra blended whisky. (Blended in the good way)
The Rock Hard is a very good bourbon though

If its available near you, try still austin cask stength. Its really good. The regular still austin cask strength is pretty good, the single barrel is absolutely amazing.

Balcones can be weird and not at all the best in Texas. Try some Still Austin releases, Ironroot Harbinger, or even some of the expensive Garrison Brothers bottles are pretty great!

Haven’t had any Crowded Barrell, but I have had a number of Texas whiskeys. There are some good ones, but generally speaking Texas whiskey is not close to the top of my list.
Shagged one of the Holladay 18 Barrel bottles today. Looking forward to it!

Crowded Barrels Eleanor bourbons are much better. They started off as MGP aged in Austin, but they may be sourcing Gulf Coast now. The wheated bourbon is my favorite.
