Thank you for both videos where you show off this bag! It both confirmed some positives and gave a few critiques I appreciate knowing beforehand!

I have no experience with the Peak Design bag, but I've now taken the Shimoda bag on a two week trip to Italy, and another two week trip to Japan. For both trips we walked/took public transit, and I wore the bag the entirety of each day as we trekked around.
The bag initially took some getting used to. It was a lot more "advanced" than any backpack I'd ever had to that point, and I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about it. Very quickly into my Italy trip I found that I absolutely loved it. There were so many little things I appreciated that just made it a wonderful travel backpack. The comfort was a huge part of that. The pockets on the shoulder straps was another. It allowed easy storage/access to buss passes, various tickets, etc. Another thing that was an unexpected win was how it holds a lot, but sort of hugs your body and stays outs of the way. I never had any issues with knocking into things or not fitting through tight spaces (an important thing when traveling in both countries as well as many airplanes). Additionally, the side pockets and various straps are also amazing. I was able to attach a full sized DJI gimbal to one side and strap it down. It allowed me to have easy access when I needed to film, but again was really nicely kept out of the way.
My only real gripe with the bag is the detachable waist strap. I find it to be a complete pain to remove, and it isn't always great to have attached. Given how well thought out the rest of the bag is I feel they could make some improvements here.
Lastly, i really like the materials used for the bag. I didn't care for them much at first as I prefer leather or canvas aesthetics, but from a pure function standpoint the ripstop is sooooo much more durable for travel. It just takes everything you throw at it and looks brand new.
Definitely a great camera bag and a company I have come to believe in.

Couldn't agree more and yeah the detachable waist strap is a pain. I had that as one of the cons in my previous video but it's not like a huge deal breaker for me

@@jasonpchen I've thought about a solution to this that I have yet to implement. My plan is to get some velcro and cut it to the size of the velcro already on the waistband. Then attach some large metal snaps to both sides of this new piece of velcro. Once I have that all in place I can stick one side of the velcro to the pre-existing waistband velcro, and the opposite side to the pre-existing backpack velcro. If things work the way I imagine, I then won't have to deal with the velcro anymore as I will have essentially replaced it with snaps. The best part is because I haven't modified the bag/waistband in any permanent way, if I change my mind or it doesn't work, I just remove the new pieces of velcro (along with the snaps) and I'm back to where I started.

    Explore 35 v2 (29.5x54x20) is 31.86L
    PD 45 Travel (33x56x24) is 44.35L
They look about the same size in your video despite the Explore-35 being 12L smaller. Does it stretch/puff out more than the spec'd dimensions?
Doesn't your Shimoda core unit come with a bag/cover which zips up? Also recall some tip/hack on Shimoda's youtube channel on how to tuck the hip belts away.

Really enjoyed your other Shimoda video as well. If you could only use one of these, which would you choose?

I'd go with the Shimoda. Thanks for watching!
