I've seen the Snowbirds perform countless times, since I was a little girl, when they'd come to entertain the crowds of the US Airshow circuit. They are amazing people, and breath-taking performers.

I completely lose my mind when they come to our city = Barrie Ontario. People around me must think I'm nuts. My Dad flew in one of the birds a long time ago when he worked for the base and said it was the thrill of his entire life. Ever since then, I fell in love with the Snowbirds and am a huge advocate!

What was her age by the way? Seems to be highly classified info, unlike the victims of the downed helicopter in Greece. Took a long time before the public knew the copter had sunk with 5 of the crew.

Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed seeing the Snowbirds after many years of seeing the Blue's and T-Bird's over and over again. The shear number of aircraft with the Snowbirds made up for the lack of afterburner excitement. They were a lot of fun to watch and are fantastic at what they do. I hope they continue to do more U.S. shows.

What a cool experience you had. Having met the members of the Snowbirds several years ago when they were here in Houston for an airshow, I'll say the Snowbirds pilots and crews were very humble, approachable, and really glad to see you when you meet them. I think I'd enjoy flying with them if I ever got the chance to.

No easy task with low thrust aircraft. Incredible energy management. Not like F-16 or F-18. More challenging in fact.

The Snow Birds come to my state of Arizona every winter then they go back to where ever they come from!
Their Home Base is in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, 45 miles west of me here in Regina. I've grown up having these jets fly overhead constantly and the yearly Air Show at AFB MJ was a must see event starting way back when I was 6 yo, up to around 36. The Snowbirds were the 1st 9 jet formation squadron in the World and always considered at the top of the Worlds aerobatic performance teams. I got to ride in and fly one of these spunky little jets back in 78, not the fastest or most modern jets, but very stable and comfortable to fly. I wasn't really used to stick flying at that time and there was more slack in the control than I expected, but you quickly get the feel for it. R.I.P. Cpt Jennifer Casey and Get Well Soon Cpt. MacDougall. Take care Jimmy, I wish everyone well in these crazy-ass times!
Yes these are old planes. The truth is they are meticulously maintained. Each plane has its own pilot and technician mechanic. They fly these planes together. Each trusting the other with his life. Yesterday's news is tragic. The investigation will find the cause. These planes are not junk anymore than your fully restored 1968 Dodge Charger is junk. The Snowbirds fly nine planes in formation. You can't do that with F18s or F16s. No the Ct-114 Tutor is not as impressive as these other fighters, but the pilots are. That is the wow factor, there is nine of them doing beautiful things in the sky. The low stall speed is what makes the Tutor. The pilots who fly them love and trust the planes. Sometimes shit happens to the best of us. Sad day yesterday.

@@chriscirku5444 that's fine Chris. The Blue Angels fly high performance F18S and there are six of them. There are six because you can't safely fly nine in formation. With out a doubt F18s are a more impressive plane than the CT-114 Tutor. The Snowbirds don't wow you with the plane. They wow you with their skills. The plane is perfect for what they do. It may well be that you cannot appreciate the Snowbirds and the show they put on but there are hundreds of thousands of spectators all over North America who do.
Scallywag 67 you can fly 9 hornets safely I see it all the time at some airshows but 9 fighters wouldn’t be as cool as 6. 9 would be too much formation flying and they would be limited on what they can do.
Scallywag 67 and yes the snowbirds wowed me I was so happy to first see them lucky I got to see them 3 times within a year which is rare for most.

Got to watch them perform at Sonoma County Wings Over Wine Country airshow a few years ago. Sadly this year's show is cancelled due to COVID.
Drove a little over an hour to see them. Took another 20 min to find parking and walk to where we needed to be for the end of the show. Got to see the floor show takeoffs and first and second flyovers. Cancelled show due to weather. First time my twins went to a airshow. Saddest moment in my life. What sucks about this video is the first time I ever seen them was Hillsborough airshow. When I was their age. Oh it was Santa Maria CA. Couple of weeks ago I remember because my wife was in labor hahaa life.
I love the snowbirds and Thunderbirds. I wanted a model snowbird or pin or t shirt.
They did a flyby at our house ( they are going cross Canada for an appreciation message for healthcare workers)

@Carter Oberbroe hope the copilot recovers. I personally have never seen the snowbirds because I left canada when I was 7 but I still like them and feel bad for the tragedy that happened

@2pakthepoop Since airshows around the globe have been canceled due to Covid19, these flights are using already allocated CAF training funds that carry over from last year. In fact, all demonstration and memorial flights from the Snowbirds use military training funds. Many other countries (UK and US included) have the same funding policy. Show some respect.

Sad day for snowbirds today
If these sixties era trainers are going to be used, they should reequiped with zero-zero ejection seats.
Exactly. These pilots are front line top performing pilots that are fully combat trained and ready on the CF-18 fighter. Just as with the US Blue Angels and Thunderbirds, they are on a two year rotation with the Snowbirds. They claim the fact that these pilots are the most important asset and then strap them in without using the best ejection seats available is like saying: “Keep your fingers crossed for the most critical phase of flight for the first 2000’ AGL, then, hey! We got your back!” This is so typical of any Government our country has had that it makes me want to puke.
Goes to show they care for our service men and women just as much as our veterans and senior citizens who defended and made our great country of Canada. My heart goes out to all members, family and friends of ALL service people lost while serving for Canada💕

There WAS a light attack version of the Tutor called the Tebuan, or "wasp" in Malaysian. Malaysia was the only country to buy the Tutor or its light attack config
RIP warrior. They are doing fantastic job, so Canadian govt need to do theirs to better and more effiently equip and found them in order to prevent any further incidents and strengthen the capabilities of our military from all aspects!!

Do they keep the radio on during live performances? I'd think the constant chatter from ATC, commercial, general aviation traffic could be distracting.

The formation/acrobatics that they perform while not sitting in the center of the cockpit blows me away. It is difficult enough when you are centered in the cockpit.
I guess the days of "ride-alongs" are over for anyone who isn’t essential to the flight &/or performance. The Royal Canadian Airforce has suffered the loss of a Cyclone, (its crew + 2 Royal Canadian Navy "ride-alongs"), and a Snowbird. The pilot will, hopefully, survive but the person who was in the seat beside him perished. You all know this. Here’s to the departed and their families💐❤️🙏.

The other CZcams video with the late Capt does not allow comments. I'm just curious as to why they could say the injured male pilot is 34 yrs old but they seemed ignorant of the age of the late Capt Casey or if she's single or married. How does a public affairs officer rise to the ranks to become captain? RIP Capt J. Casey. The condition of her salvaged helmet bears testimony to her horrible death. Very sad.

At around 5:22 when the Lead asks for the “Ready Call” around the table, he looks to his left and says “Number 2”. Is this the pilot that was lost as it’s my understanding that it was in fact the Number 2 jet that went down? Also, seeing as how this was published in 2018?

@@RW-zn8vy well no. If you watch msm there's barely a word spoken about the pilot, only Casey. So one would logically infer. But now that I've admitted my mistake let's make it all about that and beat that horse to death.

The DC-3 is decades older than this, yet still flown. Did you say the same about the DC-3, which is unsafer yet more iconic and used by early airlines? They work on gravel runways, which is perfect for Canada.
I have a phobia of flying and I've watched too many disaster shows. I'm never leaving the ground again, for real. The last time I flew it was the most embarrassing thing I've ever experienced, I had a panic attack and a flight attendant stuck with me most of the trip. She was amazing and obviously well trained for just that to occur but other passengers thought I was just a little pussy. I'll never fly again, ever...
