Granted, not everyone goes to the extreme of decking themselves out in Goth gear and acting all morbid and depressed all the time, but everyone on earth at some point wonders about death. We know a lot about what causes death and how a body goes through the process of dying. We even know how long it takes for a body to completely decompose after death has occured and how to slow that process down, almost indefinitely. But, what we don't know is what happens to our consciousness, sentience, or "soul," once we've passed on. Sure, there are many religions in the world that attempt to explain death and what happens to us after we've died, but none of us truly know for certain what actually happens. Do we go to a heaven, a hell, something in between, roam the earth as spirits unable to interact with the physical world, or do we just blink out of existence much like it was before we were born and developed consciousness in the first place? Because no one has ever died for any significant length of time and come back to life to tell us what awaits us beyond death (except Jesus, if you believe the Bible), it's impossible for us humans to know with absolute certainty what awaits us when we die. Many people throughout human history have struggled with this issue all throughout their lives. I certainly believe that is the foundation for basically all of the major religions on this planet. Sure, we can choose to have faith in one religion or another and that's all well and good, but we won't really know if we're right until we slip this mortal coil and move on to the next stage of existence, if there even is one. I personally have chosen to follow the path of Christianity and put my faith in Jesus Christ because He's the one person confirmed to have died by crucifixion, stay dead for three days, and rise again. Not sure if you know this or not, but the survival chances of being crucified by the Romans back in those days were next to nil. The only way you weren't dying once those Romans put you up there was if those same Romans took you back down because you'd been given a stay. You can probably count on one or two hands the number of times that happened during the centuries the Romans were executing people. Also, if the Romans had tried to give Jesus a reprieve, there's no way they'd have been able to do it without having a riot on their hands. The Jewish community at the time was up in arms demanding that Pontius Pilate execute Jesus. I mean, heck, they had a choice to free Jesus or a murderer named Barabus and chose to let Barabus go rather than Jesus. So that just goes to show you the pressure the Romans were under to execute Jesus. There's virtually no chance Jesus made it off that cross alive and just sat in a tomb drinking wine for three days. Over 500 eye-witness written accounts exist of Jesus walking around alive three days after He was confirmed dead and buried in a tomb. Even more people were present at his death on the cross, including the Roman physicians who made sure the condemned was dead before allowing him or her to be taken down. So, Jesus is as close to an authority on the subject as we can get. That said, because I wasn't there and didn't see if for myself, I won't KNOW for certain if my faith is correct until I die and experience it for myself. Or I may know nothing at all. It's not just the song that haunts you. Those that played this game for the first time, were merely children who had no concept of death. This game was one of the few that introduced said concept to us kids. Before this game when a character dies, you are either turned into an item, or fainted. Here, it cuts the BS and says "You're Pokemon are dead."

I've listened to this creepy, yet a fine masterpiece many of times and now is the moment when I heard this, and Majoras Mask happens to be one of my favorite games of all time. Weird, that now I see the connection between these two games.

As a child, me and my brother thought that the Lavender Town music was the coolest in Pokemon Red. We didn't know it was supposed to be creepy! O.O ^^' Now I agree. It sounds creepy. But only Lavender Town. Pokemon Tower sounds just nice to me. ^^

Para mi parecer la razón por la que estas melodías (también la de Pueblo Lavanda) fueron muy terroríficas era por que al sonar llevaban ese eco de sonido...por ejemplo...yo vivo en una casa super cerrada y casi siempre estoy solo hasta el amanecer (vivo con mis padres y mi hermana)...y cuando escucho esta música (a alto volumen) resuena en todo el lugar da la apariencia de que el sonido no solo viene del ordenador sino de toda la casa...para mi parecer terroríficamente genial
