I'll leave you to the "took them to a Super Bowl" but sure they were 8-8 without him and then 9-7 with him. Some would say the team was the reason they went to the SB but you can take it all about him if you like. Also, this has virtually nothing to do with the washed-up Wilson.
Russ is a significant upgrade to Pickett and Rudolph. The fact Steelers got him for 1M is insane.

Kenny Pickett isn't the guy, anyone with eyes was seeing that. This is an absolutely great move when you consider they were able to win 10 games with 3 backup QBs. RW is a definite upgrade and a good fit for what's built around him.

As a Die Hard Steelers fan for over 45 years. This to me isn't about the cost. its about the Veteran Leadership. Kenny should use this as a stepping stone and sit behind Russ and learn. Wilson should do well with the weapons he has there. Looking forward to see this season kick off and what they do.

Exactly. Russ can still play better than 2/3rds of the QBs in the NFL. He can compete with the so called elites QBs as well. Money wise, its a "no brainer" to sign Wilson. I believe Kenny will benefit greatly from this signing by having a veteran by his side to help guide him to learn the position better.
Y’all should be ecstatic to get Russ. Pickett got drafted with a decent defense, decent weapons and a great head coach. Y’all tried to get him even more protection and he barely improved this year, I don’t think he’s gonna be a starter anywhere but hopefully a reliable back up

Honestly I’m really happy with this. Now we can go and draft a promising tackle or center and have cap to hopefully grab a very solid LB and we’ll be in a great spot next season. If we had another great CB to compliment JPjr I could see Pitt make it to the AFC championship game win or lose

Mason Rudolph beat two bottom-ranked defenses and one that didn’t play their starters. Pickett balled out at the end of the 2022 season against average defenses. Rudolph had some great chances for a backup QB and proved to the rest of the NFL teams that he wasn’t a starter.
Tomlin hated Rudolph no chance he'd resign after getting put behind the horrible Trubisky
I still can't believe they passed on Rudolph with how clutch he came in and how the team responded to him. Sure 1.2 mil on a vet is a no-brainer, but I've never bought into the hype on Wilson.

As a Broncos fan you can tell people haven’t actually watched Russ play when they flaunt the TD-INT ratio.
Yes it looks good on paper. In practice, he was incredibly inconsistent, took way too many unnecessary sacks by being paranoid in the pocket, scrambling, and making the OLs job harder because he wasn’t predictable. He relied *heavily* on throws behind or close to the line of scrimmage and needed the receivers to do the work to get yardage and many of his TDs came in garbage time of already lost games.
I hope the best for him but it’s incredible to see the mental gymnastics people are doing from absolutely tearing him apart the last couple years and now all of the sudden it’s “iT wAs ThE bRoNcOs FaUlT rUSs Is GoNnA wIn A sUpEr BoWl”

excited about the 1.2 mil because it's nearly impossible to bring in a veteran qb without bankrupting your team. This is arguably the best thing the steelers could do at qb this year. Don't be surprised if Kenny plays some early in the season to try and prove it, but Russell Wilson is better in basically every measurable possible and will be the starter most of the year. If Russ doesn't perform his career is probably over. Pittsburgh also has a better supporting cast than Denver, so don't be surprised if Russ pulls it together. Both these qbs are playing for potentially their last seasons, performance dependent

As a MAJOR Steelers fan, I'm happy with this. It's a perfect opportunity. Let me first say - I do not believe this will bring a Super Bowl win any time soon, and think Russ will be gone in 2 years. But, there's no denying Wilson has the talent and experience for this. And, yes, the price is perfect! There is no other option! We all know KP isn't that great. Mason showed improvement, but he'll find a better deal. There's no way the Steelers are gonna draft another decent QB this soon after Kenny. This brings a chance at a fresh start for Russ and this team - both of which badly need it. New OC/new system, New QB, start working on New OL. Hopefully, it's a new STANDARD to get this team back on track to greatness. If not . . . #FireTomlin

The only reason Steelers fans are happy is because the QBs in Pittsburgh have been SO bad.
Also, the Steelers don't appear to run a complex, timing oriented offense. They might just run a v basic offense that allows Russ to run off-schedule and make things happen.

Russell Wilson is an absolute upgrade in the Steel City. Wilson played TWO fewer games, and threw 26 touchdowns plus rushed for 3. The League MVP threw 24 touchdowns and ran for 5. Both men accounted for TWENTY-NINE Touchdowns… Jackson gave up 7 Interceptions with a 67.2% completion rate, Wilson had 8 Intercepted and a 66.8% completion rate…
Had Wilson played a couple more games he would have had at least 28, if not 30 touchdowns…
For perspective, the League Champion completed 67.2% of passes for 27 touchdowns and 14 Interceptions, and lost to Russell Wilson and the Broncos, the first time in EIGHT years after dominating DENVER 16 straight times in that period. Russ isn't going to perform like Lamar or Burrow, but he is a huge upgrade for the steelers. Pittsburgh's offense over the last two seasons produced 25 passing TDs...TOTAL! I know the OC wasn't great, but still, come on this is so far below NFL standards you can't blame it all on Canada. Last season, Russ threw 26 TDs with only 8 picks; he's a major upgrade for them. Pickett is guaranteed to ride the bench. And if the offense still can't turn it around with Russ and a proven OC, Tomlin has to go.
Fans have to consider that Wilson is not playing for $1 million. He's playing for free. He would receive his entire $39 million from Denver even if he never touches a football for the rest of his life.
