  • Increase your book sales in other Amazon markets.
Most know that out of the 10 Amazon marketplaces, Amazon.com is the largest. But this doesn’t mean that it’s the only one that can, or should, be targeted. In fact, if you’re like me, you might find that your books actually generate more royalties in a marketplace outside of the US.
But how, exactly, do you effectively target marketplaces outside of Amazon.com, aside from simply ticking the box next to your chosen Primary Marketplace while publishing your book on KDP? Find out now!

Hi Rachel, great video. You respond exactly to the questions that I had in my mind recently. You have mentioned earlier that you target both US and UK markets and I was curious to hear more. And here I am listening to your video on that exact topic!! Thanks.
If you don't mind me asking some additional questions:
    1) Do you publish under the same pen name in both markets?
I am now learning the publishing process and I put my first few notebooks on both US and UK markets under the same pen name. When I search my brand, which I encourage buyers to do as well, all notebooks come up (so you can see each cover twice, which does not provide the best buyer's experience).
I presume it is not a good practice to publish under the same pen name and brand?
How do you approach it yourself?
    2) Do you research niches in the UK and USA with the same criteria? E.g. you would go only for niches that there are less than 1000 listing results.
The keyword search works differently (at least to me) on .com and .co.uk.
On amazon.com you add a word in your search to be more specific and you get less results and you can narrow down your niches. On amazon.co.uk no matter how much I try to narrow my search, thousands and thousands results come up. Actually the shorter and more broad keyword, the less results come up. So the UK search engine may do all possible key word combinations from what I type in? The more words the more combinations and more results?
And on amazon.com the engine searches for exact phrases that buyers type in, so the more detailed requests, the less results come up?
Would you be able to advise, if you have different criteria for searching niches in the UK and USA?
    3) When you speak about the number of positions you have in your stock, do you count a book published in both markets as one position or actually two?
    4) Do you have experience with publishing on amazon.ca?
Sorry for the long questions. Maybe some can be covered in the future videos.
    Thanks again.

I started creating notebooks and now have about 20 designs on kdp. After a month I've sold zero. I'm not put off just yet and realise I'm just starting out and need to give things time. My long term goal is to have enough income for my pension since I'm only a few years away from a state pension in the UK which really isn't enough to live on...I don't want to 'work' till I die so top tips like this are literally a life saver. Thanks for watching, Sarah! Notebooks are very difficult to sell-because they are the easiest type of book to create, there are millions of them on Amazon, so it's hard to get noticed. Now that you've got the hang of things in terms of the publishing process, I recommend creating some books with higher value that can stand out amongst its competitors. I wish you success!

I got a question about tax forms that i recently received from KDP. Like you, i am not USA citizen and i do not live in USA so do i have to submit the tax form that i got from KDP to USA authorities or not? Not sure what to do, if you make a video about this will be helpful.

Is it allowed to publish the same book more then once? Where does it say that because I'v been told that publishing the same book again but just in a different size might get me into trouble 😮 So how is publishing the same book with a different title is allowed if can't even have another trim size 😮 I'm confused 🙄

Hi Rachel, great video! A question on marketplaces. If I choose US marketplace as my primary, will my book be available on other marketplaces + shipping cost? Or can I define the price for each marketplace myself? Can I publish the same book in two different marketplaces with the same title?

    • @TeenaHughesOnline

▼ Inside KDP when uploading our books, we can specify the retail price in each marketplace :-)
▼ If we want to specify the most important marketplace (for example UK), we need to select UK in the drop-down Marketplace option - Rachel covers this around 09:00

Hi, I am a first-timer, so some silly questions must be made. My book is in the stage of being Reviewed, can I change marketplace, if so, how? They were to send me a proof copy, but when I proceed to checkout my address in Greece, apparently is a problem and it does not allow checkout. Will it effect anything if I change marketplace now(supposing I still can)?
Also, what I don't get is, if my book can be bought by everyone from Amazon, what difference does choice of marketplace make exactly?
One last thing, while my book is being Reviewed, I suddenly realized that there 3 selling mistakes, can I resend them teh manuscript corrected before it's published, is that possible?
    Thank you!

    • @RachelHarrisonSund
      @RachelHarrisonSund  Před 2 lety

Hi Ramon, it depends on the type of book. It's fine to use the same interiors on books such as notebooks or planners, or any other book where the customer might expect to see the same interior with different covers. However, it does not make sense to re-use the same interior on "one-off" type books, such as guided journals, activity books, colouring books, works of fiction or nonfiction, etc., as this can create confusion for the customer.
