It's perfect for wood carving artists as a gap filler between a dremel style rotary tool and heavier tools like a chainsaw where an angle grinder just won't work. It's done well, so far.
Great point! Thanks for commenting!
I figured out how to change out the collet. Looks like they tighten that nut up in the factory and force the collet too deep and it gets stuck. Pry it out
Thanks for the tip!
Hey - thanks for the excellent review on the Vevor Die Grinder. I have a couple of insights to add that might help some poor soul (like me) down the road….
First, your review mentions a problem inserting the 1/8” collet (it wouldn’t fit). What’s the point of including a collet with the grinder if it doesn’t work, right?
Well, after initially unboxing the grinder, I couldn’t even get a sanding wheel with 1/4” shaft to fit! Go figure… the tool is advertised as a 1/4” grinder, but the provided collet appeared to be less than 1/4” wide. Ugh.
I did some research online and found a lone post that discussed a similar issue back in 2014 for a Makita grinder. It turns out that the 1/4” collet can be pulled out (as your review surmised) using a nail, vice grips or - as I discovered - just a pair of pliers.
Once I removed the collet, I stretched out its width (using my fingers), then inserted it back into the grinder. Voila - the 1/4” sanding wheel fit in the shaft just fine, as did the 1/8” collet converter.
I also wanted to mention that the rubber boot on my particular Vevor grinder hides the internal bolt used to tighten the collet. It took me several minutes to figure that one out…
Happy grinding!
Thank you so much for those tips!
I hope others will read your comment and learn from you!
Thanks for your truely advise. I did appreciate it. Now I can use the grinder with a 1/4inch bit. Thanks Iam so happy.
The call it does come out
Nice.
Spencer, what do you suggest we do if we have a Vevor die grinder and want to use a 1/8" mandrel. As you say, the collet which comes with it does not fit in the grinder. How do we overcome this issue?
If the collet isn’t removable then there may not be a way. Perhaps a little pressure would remove it.
Does this grinder hold a 1/4" bit or a 6mm bit?
1/4"=.250" 6mm=.236"
1/4”
The whole tool is rhe handle duh.
Okay
