    We don’t make trips to Costco, but I work in Olympia and have access to those things if they need it. We do most of our shopping at Safeway in Aberdeen, then apply the points to filling up my tank.
    I think I posted this comment on another one of your videos: I would add a #6: if you are young (early 20’s through mid 30’s) and used to having a very active social life, prepare for disappointment. This goes double if you are single. The median age in Ocean Shores was 59 the last time I checked. A lot of people have moved here in the last 2-3 years, but I doubt it has changed that much. Apart from my wife, I’m pretty solitary in my life so that doesn’t bother me at all.
    I’ve never had issues with tourists except for people who don’t respect the beach, leave their garbage behind, etc. what really makes me angry is seeing someone taking a selfie with a seal pup on the beach. Great way to get its mother to abandon it. The overwhelming majority of tourists who come here though are great, just looking to have a good time and not doing any of those things.

      Thanks for your perspective! You're right, don't come here if you love night life because there really isn't any :)

      Back in the day there was night life us young millennials went to the bars/taverns and there were more tourists coming down. But there are a lot of 40's age range here too and mid 30's trust me i have friends on fb and they live here since childhood. :) but yes i am a solitaire person myself i only show up 2x a year (july-(birthday month) and december.) and visit school friends and my parents here. My mom works a local place here in town since 1991. She been here since 1986 same with me but i moved to central oregon. She loves it here she visited ocean shores when she was 20 back in 1969. It's a great place well back in the day. it's sad no more night life though. it was a blast back in my 20's.

    I’m a regional truck driver in the Western Washington area and was thinking about buying a place out that way and hopefully finding a responsible roommate to help with costs and what not. Is the pool of locals large enough that it would be reasonable to be able to find a roommate who has a good head on their shoulders and is not crazy or drug addicted or anything?

    • @oceanedgepnw
      @oceanedgepnw  Pƙed rokem

      I think so. You would just need to be cautious and do a background check, if possible. Many of the locals are unable to afford increasing rent prices, so I think there would be a good amount of people to choose from.

    • @ac7452
      @ac7452 Pƙed rokem

      @@oceanedgepnw thank you for the response. I'm currently spending some time in Manzanita and they have the same problem with locals being priced out of the local rental market. I was thinking there are probably plenty of good people who want to live on the coast but just need the right opportunity.

    We’re considering purchasing a property as a short term vacation rental. Are there restrictions on this in Ocean Shores?

    • @oceanedgepnw
      @oceanedgepnw  Pƙed rokem

      There are restrictions on where you can have a short-term rental in Ocean Shores. The property has to be zoned for it. However, there are surrounding cities that aren't as strict that are also near the beach. Send us an email if you'd like more info! oceanedgepnw@gmail.com

    • @user-wb5pe8ye1l
      @user-wb5pe8ye1l Pƙed 2 měsĂci

      The area just north of Damon Point is where most of the nightly rentals are. It is zoned commercial, so other businesses are there, as well.
      I have a rental which I will be selling in the next year. It has a house and a separate fenced-in cottage. It has been gutted (cottage) and totally renovated.
      There is alot of new building going on and prices are going up. WAWONA SE has at least 3 in progress and most of the lots are sold.
      There are ex military, religious, LGBT, people of color, etc. AND we all live quietly side by side and with respect. If you are too loud, a neighbor may call the police to ask you to quiet down.
      You will stop for deer and deer families on any and all roads, frequently.
      You will look out a window and see them eating your grass or resting.
      You will do battle with prickly sand mat or goat's head and be challenged by what grows in this environment and what is deer proof.
      If you liked Angela Lansbury and Cabot Cove, you might like it in OS. I LOVE the wind on my face. walking for miles on the beach, finding agates on Damon Point, opening the door at midnight and hearing the pounding ocean a mile away.
      The setting sun is sometimes a huge, orange globe so large and breathtaking that folks pull over to watch it set, in awe.(can be a hazard, it is so bright)

    Two things to consider before moving to Ocean Shores. The weather, and healthcare. The non sunny weather brings out the non-sunny nature of these two self assigned spokespersons (observe their happy demeanors ha ha) and many other habits which takes its toll on many. There is only a non-urgent clinic in Ocean Shores and doctors in Grays Harbor are not usually taking new patients, which currently takes you to Elma or beyond. Aberdeen does have a hospital and emergency department and Radiology and other services, but they don't offer everything. This was designed as a retirement community. There are a lot of limpy, crippled, cranky people here. Young people start acting old way before they should. If you have children, make sure you spend time insuring the schools are what you are looking for, for your children. An!1d, like they said, shopping is limited unless you are looking for a kite or other beach play thing. Wish you the best! Oh, this is a very LGB community. I don't think the rest of that alphabet has gotten here, but be aware it could be. No judgement, I have no children...

      Anthony, that is a great question. My husband and I bought our house in Grays Harbor City 5 years ago. It's about 20 minutes away from Ocean Shores. We are a black married couple with 5 kids. The community not just in Ocean Shores but all over Grays Harbor County is very welcoming and friendly to black families. Our family enjoys wonderful memories in Ocean Shores every time we go there, especially when we rent an electric boat from The Boat House.
