Hope you have a great show in Athens, Ohio. Didn't know you were close. Thank you for your support of Palestine. Thank you for being true to your values. Thank you for the hard parts and the honesty.
Last summer when they were protests in Gaza against hamas, did you react? Did you care when they gunned down protesters and imprisoned survivors? Or the year before in the west bank by fatah? Do you care that child marriage is 2 out of ten in the west bank and three out of ten in gaza? That poor young boys, if not fully abandoned to the streets, are sold to be child laborers? That back alley abortions lead the the deaths of dozens of women a year? That the socioeconomic divide is so stark that it only fuels the incentive of billions in international aid that's only reliquished to pay for slay programs which are geared primarily to the poor and the youngest, while faction leaders despite their alleged hate of israel and much of the west, the israel they ask people to die for, become martyrs for, they send their own family to be treated in tel aviv, their children to universities in the west... you ever been to a palestinian rally, how often is it you learn about the people, the culture, the food, the hopes, the dreams, promises of the future instead of calls for death, not only of Israel but worldwide. Do you know what they call a palestinian living in Israel? Israeli because they will murder them just the same. They won't dialogue with the other in the west. Look up what Omar Boughatti and Hatem Bazian has said, these are the founders of several student and non campus groups. What they've said for decades. What they've supported. While you're at it, look up Irshad Manji and Mohammad Zoabi. This is not to change your opinion. There is likely no changing it. Usually these things are smaller parts of larger beliefs, so personal, so strong, so sensitive.. that everything else sounds like an attack. Just expand your beliefs. It is quite complicated. Prior to Oct 7th, there were many peace groups in Israel... some with palestinian members, do you know how many members have been arrested and imprisoned or some executed without trial, accused of being Israeli spies? People like to make justifications for it. Truth, for the wrongs of either side. . . and finding the truth is difficult when so many convictions are stronger than facts allow and facts that become more difficult to sift thru. The Jersusalem Youth Chorus was set to perform at the kennedy center late last year, it had to be cancelled, done virtually, singing a song they did with Malinda a few years ago.. she has a channel on youtube, search for "Singing with Israeli and Palestinian artists" but also reflect on the protests, they don't just come with every conflict, they are 24/7 of every day, everywhere... people that see Jew or hear of someone being from Israel, no matter what their opinion or politics are. from the same groups, you also see attacks on cubans and hindus, and again, never mind palestinians with a differing view. . . not just protest, not just vandalism, not just violence, not just on political fronts, not just on campus, not just the streets you live, not just ...
