You didn’t mention the Mormons running the legislature. Not being able to buy beer after 1:00 or liquor at all, outside liquor store hours. Alcohol laws in general treat 65-year-old adults as children. The laws that prohibit adult oriented businesses. The general stale, boring vibe. Edit: Lack of high-end shopping. SLC barely has a Nordstrom, and they have bad selection even for a Nordstrom. Literally nowhere to buy an actually stylish t-shirt or pair of shoes. Nowhere. Gotta head to LA or Las Vegas to even do basic shopping for clothes. Ridiculous.
For being a major metro area, Salt Lake actually really doesn't have bad traffic at all. It's only ever bad during rush hour on major highways, but traffic is almost nonexistent like 20 hours out of the day. Like, you can drive from Ogden to Salt Lake in about 30-45 minutes even when there's "bad" traffic. That's about the same distance as Irvine to Los Angeles, which with traffic easily takes like an hour and fifteen mintues.
