My exact first new motorcycle. I loved it. I’m now 65, still riding a Honda 1100 Sabre. Would trade it in a heartbeat for My 1976 550. Thanks for the memories !

That’s my ride ! I bought mine in Charleston SC in 76 ! The handle bars are the same ones that I installed my self a month after buying the bike I also drilled four 1/4 holes at 3,6,9,12 in each muffler around the center hole . It brought the bike to life! Love ❤️ that bike ! When I went to Spain I brought it on my ship and welded the back stand to the steel deck in the carpenters shop. Where After hours we would watch movies as we crossed the Atlantic Ocean. I got to watch Easy Rider from the seat of my bike in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean 🌊 😎. I put 24K miles on her before I sold her to a shipmate when my enlistment was over, he also got my apartment and began to be cool 😎 too🤣 So trust me when I say that is one heck of a dream machine that gave me so many good memories. Enjoy 😉 oh Top speed was 115 mph 🤫

I remember these so well because I was in college then. Just an amazing bike.

I took mine from Louisiana to California then Florida and back to Louisiana one summer in 1979. An epic solo ride I will always cherish. A bit small of a bike for such a long ride, but the 550 did it fine.

Great video. Glad I stumbled upon this channel. I have a 1975 CB750 that I bough as my first bike two and a half years ago. If anyone is looking for their first vintage bike, the 70's Honda CB's are bulletproof. I use mine as an everyday rider and it's never broken down on me. Plus it's been a great bike to learn motorcycle maintenance on. Lots of educational videos on line, plenty of parts available.

The perfect blend of power and size IMO. Such a beautiful, beautiful bike!! Wow, can't imagine walking into a showroom circa 76 and seeing all the different Honda's lined up!!

My first new vehicle purchase was a 1975 CB550K. I put a Wixom handlebar mounted fairing, luggage rack, and passenger back rest on it. Toured it cross country. Sold it in 1980 because I bought a Harley. Big mistake. The Harley was always broken. The Honda never broke.

i bought a 75 cb500t 3 days ago, it has no spark on one cylinder but other than that its in great condition with a tonne of spares and 20,000kms, a nice little project that i picked up for a steal at AU$2000

My second bike was a 1975 CB550K1. It was extremely smooth. I hit 110mph on the highway. That was top speed. By swapping the fuel lines to the right side and cutting the two rubber frame mounts in half, you could install a 750 gas tank and get an extra 1 gal.

Well done! Nice descriptive ride. Speaking of that, I am traveling 500 miles this morning to pick up a 1975 CB550K in that sunburst color!

7:16 The high rpm still blew my mind for a motorcycle from the same era.

I bought the predecessor to this model, the CB5004F when I came home from the service in ‘72. Great bike. Very easy to ride, easy in tires and chains. It had pipes that looked exactly like mine did.

Nice bike. I have a special place in my heart for the old CB550 Four being it was my first street bike.
Do you ever get lost in your thoughts riding a bike like that? Like expect to walk in your house and there's an old green rotary dial phone on the kitchen wall? I envy you getting to ride all those time machines. The 70s was an epic decade for Honda.

Don't forget a portable 8 track tape player.
An HBO box on the TV. If not its 3 channels and rabbit ears for you.
Farrah Faucet and Kate Jackson will soon be a part of your life.

@@mikehagan4320 Never had cable at home. Had a roof antenna and got NY channels and some Philly channels in Freehold, NJ area. And I was partial to Julie on the Love Boat, Valerie Bertinelli on One Day At a Time and Cassiopia on Battlestar Galactica. My next door neighbor had that detonator looking portable 8 track player. I only had a transistor radio with a single ear bud. As time went on, I DID get a Panasonic boom box and a Sony Walkman though!

Just love the 550K. Honda instruments in this era were perfection.

I had a Kawasaki Mach lll when the 500 came out. I thought these were pretty weak but looked sweet. The four into four of early Honda's sounds so nice, unlike the 4 into 1.

I bought a 1978 F model. When I was 17 in 84. Had to rebuild it as primary chain had gone. Complete engine
    apart job.
Have had over 30 bike now. Is the one I wish I had kept.
The 400 F was much more common in UK.

Wonderful condition of your 550 Four! Congratulations :) Hey, i had 3 of them over the decades ... my last 500 Four I've sold in 2007 if I remember right. Still have a Yamaha XT 250 (my 2nd one, they are best ;) ... built 1983. Loved the sound of the CB 500 Four and the trumpet exhaust pipes ... just the real power only came with high revs and the 500 Four was still a bit heavy in comparison to 2 zylinder motorcycles. However one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever!

How can you claim the brakes are good whilst engaging the clutch in braking? Lol you're losing so much braking potential by not engine braking
