i use to hit a really high note and do it easy & sounded really good…8 years later, i cant even get close to hitting it even if i tried..im not sure how i use to hit it. one day about 20 years ago. i just hit it singing to a song. than i practiced on it, try to see how high i could take it.

Everybody uses everything you mentioned. It's simply impossible to sing "just from your throat". And breath support is a thing and it's certainly important, but this is more about controlling the pressures in your body.
