Hi, just a quick question... Do you feel like the velcro will last as just long as the botton ones? Or does it go less-sticky after a while?

From all the research I've done, PUL should be okay with the odd 60 degree wash, but I try to do 40s as much as possible. I just found that without a slightly hotter wash every few washes that I didn't find they were coming out as clean. It's definitely not caused any issue for my nappies personally anyway. x
Hi, I’m wanting to try these but really nervous about the washing side. Things like how much detergent (hard water area) to start with I might not have a big enough stash for a full wash. My machine has a daily 60 minute wash cycle so I was thinking this might do on 40 degree wash for the pre wash and then for the main wash use my cotton 60 degree cycle (I think the cotton 60 degree wash runs for over 200 minutes.) My little one is due in December so no option to dry outside unfortunately so will need to use the central heating. I do have an Air buddy or dryer also. I’ve read heated drying racks or a dehumidifier with clothes setting are good.
Clare Mckinnon The detergent normally says on the side of the box, how much you need to use for your water hardness. The key thing is to make sure that the water isn’t bubbly at the end of the cycle, and to keep running a rinse until it is. If it’s still bubbly at the end of the cycle, you can reduce the detergent a bit the next time. It’s just a bit of experimenting until you get the level right. But it isn’t complicated. And I always work on the basis I’d rather use too much and get them really clean, and then run extra rinses if needed.
How many nappies would you recommend to get for a newborn? I’m not sure how many to get in regards to having a decent time ratio between wash days 😕

Do you pull the pocket liner out before washing? AND add an extra liner into the main nappy when wearing?
The liner in the pocket works it’s way out of the pocket in the wash, so there is no need to do that when it’s dirty/wet. And an extra liner isn’t a necessity; just depends on personal choice and how bit a “wetter” the child is.
If you’re washing your nappies with clothes what about if you need fabric conditioner or washing additives like vanish liquid or something to whiten whites? Plus bio washing removes stains I can’t fathom how I would wash nappies with clothes.
I don’t use fabric conditioners as they aren’t great for the machine anyway, and definitely wouldn’t want them on cloth nappies as they affect absorbency. If I had a load that needed a specific additional cleaner in them (like a whitener when I wash sheets) then I just make sure I do that separately from a nappy load. But in all honest, it’s very rare that I have a load that needs anything additional for stains or whitening in it. It’s just about what works in individual houses I think; I do a wash load every day and that works for us, but I do sometimes “save up” the nappies and do one big nappy wash on its own.

How many nappies do you have to manage full time cloth nappies?
We have 18 all in ones for day time, and 3 of the two parters for night time. And that is more than enough, I could get by with about 12 day nappies and 2 night time ones as long as I stayed on top of washing religiously.
Not bad but too much of action and speech.
