He alleged that Redlick wanted to live life without her husband and questioned her about what she did with the knife she used to stab her husband. He also pressed her about inconsistencies in her testimony causing her to admit to lying about particular details.

In law school they tell you, to be careful not to come off like you are attacking a witness otherwise you’ll turn the jury against you for bullying them. This is the perfect example of this

I don't know if she intentionally killed him or not but what I do know is after watching Amber Heard in the Depp trial its refreshing watching someone admit their wrongs and not deny what's clearly the truth.
I agree!! She seems honest about her timeline and faults. Its not an amber. It was probably a passion killing. Passionate fight, took it to far on both ends im sure. People lose their tempers and thats ok to an extent.
Stabbing in the shoulder and not stabbing him any further makes me suspect it was probably in self defence. It's not somewhere you would stab someone if you were trying to kill them tbf and I can believe she might have thought as much and that's why she didn't check on him sooner, thinking he might retaliate violently if she did go to check on him.

It's so refreshing to listen to someone that actually sounds like they're just telling the truth. I almost forgot what it sounds like after a certain trial.
Just coming in to this for the first time.. not sure what is happening. I am only a few minutes in but yes I can see how the questions are answered so easily and straightforward. Need to look at the back story about this.

@@brodie6468 facts and evidence says other wise. You believe amber’s multiple different stories to each occasion? Testimony of her crying without tears and posed for a picture during her testimony? Amber was exposed in trial to falsifying evidence. Her bruise kit was caught in photo when Johnny was on the couch. All of the evidence even on amber’s side backs Johnny’s story up. She literally submitted a photo for 2 different stories that happened a year apart. What real victim gives her abuser a knife for a birthday gift? What victim who claims she feared her husband would taunt him and laugh at him and call him names in audio tapes? What victim begs her abuser to say when he tried to leave her in multiple times in audio tapes? There is text messages from amber’s parents to Johnny admitting she lied about everything so she won’t lose the penthouses. There is also an audio of amber admitting that to Johnny on the phone.

@ Hole Rose but it did work because she was found not guilty. It’s just tactics because she didn’t waiver under heavy questioning. Some people start falling apart under this type of questioning because they’re lying. This prosecution did a great job.

My exact thought too! I know there is such a huge contrast in the charges against Danielle and Amber.....but you can see, tell and feel the pain Danielle has and not once can we see, tell or feel it with Amber.
Cause she knew she was telling the truth Amber was telling lies and when telling lies and keep telling lies things change and don't add up.
His tactic is totally backfiring. All he is doing is making the jury more sympathetic to her.

In this case, putting her on the stand was brilliant; because she sounded honest and believable. She came across like a victim. Prior when he was sitting in the court, she seemed cold and indifferent, but was really good to see her tell her story. She was simple and straight-forward.
so ironic to see people hearing that emotionless rehersed testimony and calling it trustworthy.

@@TheOneanjel She's not showing any signs of deception. Emotionless, maybe. But nobody can cover up everything. Her blink rate is amazingly consistent. Her baseline is amazingly consistent. Amber Heard most assuredly rehearsed and prepared extensively and it was still incredibly obvious that she was lying, on top of the fact that she's a professional actor.
This woman looks beat down and resigned to her fate. She has nothing to hide anymore. And this tool prosecutor can't even get a rise out of her. She's either telling the truth, or telling the truth AND on drugs to flatten her emotions.

You are SUPPOSED to respond to the jury. That's what your lawyer will tell you to do. If no jury, you respond to the judge.

I have no idea whether she is guilty or not, but her husband seemed like a tyrant and this lawyer is incredibly unlikeable.
He’s not meant to be likeable. During cross examination he needs to be tough and hardcore and get answers to the different points he’s trying to prove.
But it’s prob a lot more important during things like opening and closing statements.

Absolutely correct. His entire strategy was trying to invoke a reaction out of her. In all honesty she was the star witness on her own behalf of the trial. I'm so glad she was acquitted
" he threatened you would leave penniless and homeless" -lawyer acts like this is a win for his team. Please. Even if my husband and I parted ways we wouldn't be threatening the other person or any human being that they'd be on the street without the other person. That's a petty and vindictive threat. Which shows a little of the person's character. And that he was intentionally scaring her, why? To obligate her to stay.
He does the defense’s job for him (lucky for her because the defense seems to be asleep at the wheel). Also, the judge? “Hmmmmm… No. overruled.”
We don't even know if he said that. He couldn't follow through with it anyway. They're married and she knows her rights and if not, she had the freedom to ask a lawyer.
@@mellowyellow2022 possible possibly. the prosecution brought that up, if the husband didn't say it why is the prosecuting lawyer saying he did? Even if the prosecutor lied about that, why? To insinuate that the husband saying that he was going to leave her destitute would be motive enough for her to kill him. You are saying she would've known her rights or spoken to a lawyer. Let's assume that. So, following your logic, the prosecutors claim doesn't make sense and that would've been one LESS reason to intentionally kill him.
@@mellowyellow2022 sorry but this is kind of an oversimplification, not to mention just downright dismissive and belittling. I know from personal experience, having witnessed my father make all sorts of similar threats to my mother (and many much worse), that such threats be incredibly effective, intimidating, convincing, traumatic, and make the person on the receiving end very fearful and make them doubt themselves, their own knowledge/understanding of the law, their rights, etc.
My ex husband said the same things. Basically he said he’d ruin me financially, emotionally and physically.
It all occurred. He even addicted our son to drugs to get back at me, and keep control over our child. It worked. My son is now and addict, lives with his father who supplies him with dope!

Yeah, that was a no win question. If she had called 911 first, lawyer would say “so you know he is either dead or nearly so, that brain and cardiac cell damage is happening every second, yet you do nothing except cal someone? Who won’t be there for some time? You didn’t even TRY to save him, even if untrained?” And if you do CPR first …it is “so you didn’t even call first?”
She's not medically trained, but common sense alone would suggest she should have first checked for a pulse, then attempted to stop the bleeding. (She testified she saw considerable amount of blood upon exiting the bathroom, trailing into the living room; the wound still actively and profusely bleeding when she lifted his shirt.) Regardless, while I don't believe for a second she intended to kill him, her actions post stabbing I find odd at best, e.g. failing to call 911, instead cleaning, mopping up the blood.😟
V-tach V- Fib, are both potentially life threatening rhythms; heart still beating but without sufficient blood circulation to vital organs. Respirations can briefly be present even with the absence of a pulse. We don't perform CPR on "dead" people. "Death" is a final clinical declaration made by a medical professional.

Ok, what am I missing. If the prosecutor is accepting her story and timeline, then why is no one bringing up that her husband had plenty of time when he wasn’t dead and when he was walking around to call 911 HIMSELF. The fact that he didn’t and let himself bleed out to me shows three things: he DID in fact attack her and didn’t want to be arrested and charged for attacking her, he was suicidal, he wanted her to be charged for his murder.
Who bleeds out from a shoulder wound?!! I would be bewildered and traumatized just like her. I would be thinking, how could this have happened?! WHAT just happened?!
You can see from her reaction when the verdict was read that she fully expected to be found guilty. She had nothing to hide.

Prosecutor is coming off way too aggressive instead of playing it cool and calculated. These things matter to the jury, likability matters, tact matters, presentation matters. This guy is going about it the wrong way.

The prosecutor sounds so angry. He sounds like a jerk. If I was on the jury I would really not respond well to him. He can ask the questions without being angry. Very unprofessional and like he watches too many crime shows.

I just started watching this trial now, I watched her testimony and now am in the middle of his cross examination. First off, he seems very aggressive in his questioning which doesn’t make a lot of sense, I know he’s trying to make her look guilty and trip her up and whatnot, but she’s being very calm and admitting her mistakes and seems to be telling the truth in every aspect, so his aggressive questioning doesn’t make much sense since she isn’t being uncooperative or trying to evade his answers. And secondly, again I realize it’s his job, but he’s asking for extremely specific detail on timeline and events, but if you’ve just endured such trauma there’s no way you’d be able to remember exact timelines, or thoughts, or tiny details like this. The fact that she is trying to remember and admitting if she can’t, and that when he makes a statement that she doesn’t feel is precise she corrects it with her being unsure of the exact timeline or details just seems to prove how trauma distorts your mind.
Her whole testimony comes across so honest, almost even to a fault. She really tries to remember before she just answers, she admits when she can’t remember exact details or timelines instead of trying to fake something which might help in the moment but come back to bite her later, she corrects him if she thinks he’s telling it incorrectly even if her correction doesn’t necessarily look favourable towards her. I feel awful for this woman and hope she gets to move on from this and live a good life.

She appears to be answering honestly. I know nothing about this case, but compared to Amber Heard, a person can tell the difference. I am feeling compassion for her because the details he is asking after killing someone I would imagine the brain would compartmentalize in many different boxes.
Honestly, I wonder if the wide-watching of the Heard/Depp trial will help with the way people approach testifying defendants. It's weird to see it here in the comments already. (Not you, specifically, because I have no idea, but) Law and Crime comments on a defendants' cross-exam are almost always saying the defendant is lying and guilty. It's cool to read the comments this time around and see a lot more diversity of opinion and better analysis (like yours) than I feel like I usually see.

Sounds like self defense to me. The prosecutor behaved like a bully and seemed confused about the facts at times. She corrected him, even when it wasn't to her advantage to do so. Refreshing to watch a seemingly honest witness after watching A.H. on the witness stand. Would like to see the Behaviour Panel analyze the body language in this trial !
She is speaking the truth. Unlike amber. She replies ‘yes’ or no so simply. No playing around the bush and she pauses to recollect some memories unlike Amber looking straight into the eyes of the jury answering without even thinking like typical liars do 🤣🤣🤣

I have not watched this entire trial. She looks tired and broken, as though nothing matters anymore. In a situation like this, who would remember every smallest detail? The whole situation is just very sad.

Have you ever experienced a traumatic event? It’s very difficult to get every little detail every time you have to tell the story, especially when you have to tell it a million times as I am sure she has had to.
She is obviously so traumatised. I can see and so honest in her testimony. Hiding absolutely none. 💯

In many respects, the prosecutor is stepping all over himself due to the power of his position. I just heard him say, "and you knew he was dead, didnt you? Ms. Redlick's response was yes. He tripped all over himself with that contradiction to grilling the defendant on the issue of citing each hour that went by that she could have called 911 and didn't. His point was continuous in questioning her ... Mr. Redlick could have been alive and she still didn't call 911. This guy needs to set his legal ego aside and back off from the power trip. His tactic is trying to get her to the point of an derogatory or sarcastic response because she is answering in a even.toned, non.agressive manner and just answering the questions equally. He needs to do the same because he is coming off as a brow.beater to me. Her attorney? He should be doing a lot more in objecting.
I'm so glad other people agree. I thought I was going to come down here and be alone on this one. A truly good prosecutor will be able to have people not watch a single second of the rest of the trial or know anything about the facts, and still watch their cross-exam of a defendant and think they're doing a good job. I've heard people defend prosecutors who do this poorly by saying, "You don't get it, they _had_ to talk to her like that," but you can watch a great many tense cross-exams with no other context and not need someone to explain their tone and line of questioning to you, because those were _actually_ talented prosecutors (see Jodi Arias, Stacey Castor, Donna Scrivo).

He’s allowed to treat her as a “hostile witness”. Some Prosecutors don’t care if the defendant is actually guilty. They’re just trying to prove that they are guilty. The way he’s talking to her is pretty standard for when defendants testify. The beauty of it is that we can observe the interaction and recognize if the person testifying is truthful or not.
I don’t think he crosses any lines. I’ve watched many trials and this prosecutor isn’t that aggressive imo. He’s doing his job.

I think he realized he made a mistake when he indicated her. Instead of admitting he was wrong he is desperate to hide his mistake. A careerist is more interest in his own agenda than he is justice. I can forgive someone for an error in judgement especially when. They rely on cops for so much and cops are overwhelmed, often corrupt and have a notorious record for. DV in their relationships which taints their perspectives. However he chose to make the woman and her children collateral damage in behalf of his ego and future.whuxh is likely political in nature. The fact he was stabbed in the shoulder does indicate it was probably during a struggle of some kind and not an attempt to necessarily kill him, but she should have dialled 911 as soon as she realised he was ether dying or possibly dead when she eventually went to check on him. Still on the fence about this one. It does look like self defence and considering it was in the shoulder I can understand why she might have felt still under threat and not suspecting it was a fatal injury. From London, UK

Isn’t it a no- brainer that if she was actually intending to kill him she would have stabbed him in the chest, throat, probably lots of times (a la Jodi Arias or tons of other stabbing murders- it’s always lots of stabs). You don’t just stab someone once in the shoulder if you want to murder them. She behaved strangely afterwards, sure, but at the moment of stabbing him, it’s obvious to me she didn’t intend to kill him. She was trying to get him to lay off of her.

I’m from UK and televised trials are a new rarity. This is my first time watching a live murder case. I can only presume that the prosecutor is being snarky because he can’t get a rise out of the defendant? He sounds really angry and what is with all his huffing??

He is trying to undermine her testimony, but it backfired. She does come across as unemotional and detached, but this could be a coping mechanism. She seems genuinely traumatized, as his attacks seem to stem from a deep dislike of the defendant. The grandstanding made him look like a bully, and the jury didn’t care much for the histrionics based on how the case was settled.

I need to watch the direct again, but, the thing I find odd is that she was able to grab a knife while being pinned down and being unable to breath to stab him so easily - but I’m unclear if it was even a knife that he was stabbed with.

She stood up well to cross. It seems the prosecutor is trying to suggest that she deliberately killed him and then made up a story later. It is clear to me that she acted to stop the threat of what he could do to her. Isn't that self defence? Also if you are know you are not guilty ,in that if him dying was not what you intended you are not going to say to a 911 operator "my husband is dead. I killed him". I'm sure she was in immense shock and had a myriad of reactions. Relief for not being dead herself, glad he had stopped what he was doing but mortified and shocked that he was dead ,and because she is obviously a very intelligent lady of course she is going to realise that the finger is going to be pointed at her from how things appear ; ie her being there with a dead body. I know it's the prosecutors job to be aggressive but the narrative he is trying to weave is not holding water to me. She was obviously operating from panic mode in the first 24 hours and will not be able to remember the distressing events sequentially. That is not how our minds work when under immense shock and distress.

I stopped believing in self defence when she stated she left the knife with him after stabbing him and she run into the bathroom in a belief he would keep attacking him. She slipped there. If she believed he was still attacking her, she would have not left the knife there for him to use it on her. I believe she's lying, things didn't happen the way she describes.
As I keep finding out, the whole system is a huge problem. A lawyer who wants to prove her guilt and a lawyer who wants to prove her innocence. Actually, in such cases there should be lawyers who want to prove impartially and objectively what really happened.

The Judge seems confused. And the Prosecutor is a jerk. And ruined his own case

That Judge is horrendous! How can witness to prior violence be not relevant ??? Shocking that would need to be explained to her 🙄 very unjust

@@farmerchick3040 It might be relevant for self-defence version. If he had had a history of violence against ex-spouses, the probability it might have been a case would be high.
Prosecutors are scum bags. It takes a special person to do that job.
She's authentic in direct contrast to Amber Heard. It's an unfortunate and tragic situation, that ended in the killing of her husband, but I'm glad she was acquitted. The evidence for self-defense was overwhelming. I hope she can move past this trauma with counseling for both her and her children. Her late husband was obviously a troubled person. The complexity of DV situations is astounding.😞

And what's crazy, is that people who believe AH, _DON'T_ believe Danielle... Proof that what AH did/is doing, is a true disservice to us _actual_ survivors of DV & SA.
Very easy for all of you people saying oh she should have just left....its not easy to leave an abuser and it shows none of you have ever been in that situation.

All the evidence points to her being the abuser.. snooping on him, hectoring, yelling, throwing things at him, financial controlling etc.
Maybe she was the abuser and he should have left?
