Both are great starter notes for collectors. These are notes that every currency collector will have in their collection. But, ultimately, my advice is to find something that speaks to you, for whatever reason! Remember, it’s YOUR collection. The note that started me was the 1922 $20 gold certificate. It blew my mind. I wasn’t even looking for paper money at the time. I was just trying to buy a gold bar. After seeing that note, I bought it immediately and have been only paper ever since. Good luck!
agreed - it wasn't until after I posted the video that I thought to mention it is up to the collector and whatever they prefer. I just figured I would give my two cents (eww coins!) and recommend notes that are easily-found icons. The 1922 AND 1928 gold certs are works of art - can't agree with you more!
Great first notes - hands down if you're going after just "one" or starting a collection what you recommend is spot on for all price points/condition. My "first" recommendation is the Series 1922 $10 Gold Certificate if you want to spend a bit more and then the Series $2 1917 Legal Tender/United States note for a lower price - again all based on condition. They are both easily found. The thing about starting to collect paper money the tendancy is to go small first but I recommend starting with a a large size, at least you have one! Great topic and thanks for putting this out there.
agreed! starting out with small size may be easier, but I recommended two large size notes to potentially peak this new collector's interest enough to stick with it! Great suggestions - the 1922 Gold series is a beauty
If they don't want to spend alot of money, and get their feet wet,you can find really nice uncirculated small size legal tenders and silver certs very cheap
Great video. Funny coincidence. The first note I ever purchased was a large size $1 Silver Certificate when I once visited Chicago. I would probably recommend as a first note. Series Year 2021 $1 and $5 note. I would say that they are historically notes with them being the first notes with signatures of two women on the note at once. And those notes are readily available...
I like both of your suggestions. Either note is good start for a currency collection. For their second purchase, I would recommend either a Large $2 Legal Tender or the $5 Legal Tender (woodchopper). Both of these are easily obtainable in decent grades for reasonable prices. Great Video!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍
Thank you for your recommendation!!! I will definitely oick this notes in the near future for my collection!!!

I recommend small size United States Currency for someone looking to start. Can start small then start chasing series sets
totally understandable - I personally love the 1953 or 1963 legal tenders
Great video.

interesting! I would not think of the newest series to begin with!

awesome - the 1907 $5 Woodchopper is one of my top favorite notes
