Okay. This technique is called sankyo. Or number three in the series of techniques that O'Sensei established. And again, this whole series, one through five, is going to start with ikkyo. So if we look at shomenuchi, ikkyo, you meet and down. Again, I want to lift the hand so that I'm looking at the palm of my partner's hand. Reach underneath. I'm going to wrap my fingers right around the inside of the palm. And the fingers are another aspect that I have. I'm going to step back. And think about pointing all of this directly at your partner as they turn and cut. Again, this is very similar to the sword work that we do in aikido. Again, I don't want to point the fingers down and cut with the butt of the sword. I want to try to cut out with the tip and the elbow of the sword. And I'm going to continue to move around the front, irimi tenkan and down. The pin incorporated here, sankyo pin. Alright. So again, you start with ikkyo. Ikkyo, lift, take the hand and step back, cut, irimi tenkan, straight down on the shoulder and pin. So if we look at the ura variation. Again, I move to the back side first, lift, continue to move behind and down, spiraling movement towards ugay's back. Up for the pin, pull through. Ura, lift, hand position, tenkan, and back. Up for the pin, pull through. Couple other variations that we'll often see, straight down, straight up. Can also use sankyo to create openings for other techniques. Sankyo, number three. - Jak na to + styl
Looks dang effective. People talk so much bs about aikido but I took a class for 6 months and always practiced with my sensei with pain. Can definitely tell you it works and we weren't pretending ☺️
It’s not just about pain it’s about how realistically you can find the position
aha aha. go use it in a fight.
sankyo very much
i was thinking the same thing when i clicked this video 😂😂😂
That was so funny that i forgot to laugh 😐
Hhhhhhhhhh
😂👍🔥
I laughed 😂
THAT IS A REAL AIKIDO AND REAL TRAINED AIKIDO INSTRUCTOR, MASTER.
My neighbour used to be a police officer and was a practitioner of aikido. One day he told me how an offender turned on him unexpectedly. He said that he reflexively entered into one of his aikido techniques and the offender flew away from him into a wall. He was worried at first that he had injured the guy, but was thankful that he had not. He had never used his class-learned technique before this and was surprised at its effectiveness.
2:14 - Beautiful throw. Absolutely beautiful.
+Golden Boy ooooooh yes
indeed
Aikijudo
I thought the same when i first saw it
What a gorgeous dojo!!
I love aikido. I achieved my 5th kyu a week ago "the best technoqie is no tecnique"
thank you Mike! you explain every technique so clearly! It's a pleasure to follow you!
Very Good! This is very good for Law Enforcement Personnel, facilitating submission without strikes, inclusive of punching uke in the face( (when you don't want to).
I had learned the art of Jui Jitsu back in the mid 80's. and have kept up with the training. It works quite well. My daughter is 9, Over time she is picking it up more and more.
I like the manner t
You demonstrate... Very comprehensible.... Easy to grasp...
a fantastic lesson, thanks
great explanation. Thanks for Share
Very good form!!
excellent technique....great stuff
Excelent Hombu style, very fluid, very nice.
It's a whole lot better than watching black and white, blurry documentaries!
I love your videos
the guys like : " no sank yu"
hahahaa :D
lol
wooow this is awesome, I've got a loooot to learn
that's only for demonstration most moves in aikido can be used even when punched and even though its a chop the same move can be used on someone swinging an object over head
very good aikido...
please remember this is mainly a samurai art....so grabbing someones wrist in order to not get sliced by a sword was common....and if you did you where in for a world of hurt
Good demo
this boy have a good style
Koodoos to your Uke Sensei. Great technic, great explanation, Domo!
Probably my favorite! It gives the defender total autonomy over your attacker.
Like the pin variation on the last technique. Haven't seen that one before. Gotta try that soon. Great vid! Thx!
That was amazing!
I agree .every martial art claims to be better than the other one but every outcome soley depends on the character of how he fuse his mind, body & soul into the technique.
Sankyo for sharing this video
Aikido is mainly self-defensive martial art; although, it has some offensive techniques.
Great aikido...
Your mma fighter wouldn´t do shit in a sankyo lock. Imagine someone grabs your nuts and you feel heavy pain. You can only beg your opponent not to put more pressure on your nuts. Same with sankyo. I know how painful it is.
alot of people forget that when you have to use aikido for real, the majority of the time you wont be using it against another martial artist, or an MMA fighter -_- but the average person who attacks you on the street, martial artists are told not to start fights and to only use what they know to defend themselves, thats why its rare to see a real fight on the street were both are martial artists, very rare indeed. Does aikido work on inexperienced fighters? fuck yeah.
came here to inform myself about different aikido-styles and to rewatch learned techniques to practice them better - i've been studying aikido for 1,5 years now but haven't achieved any kyu-grade yet (just a random perfectionist passing by)
Awesome
I just started taking Aikido I love it. The pin i learned when doing Sankyo when you have your opponent on the ground one knee in the rib cage and the other near their head.
Actually as many martial artists learn is a beating. Bruce took some in China. He discusses it to a degree in books. Hence fights lasting less than a minute. Bruce was also a huge fan of Fencing and American Boxing and Savate. In Aikido I have learned two things. Don't give the other guy a chance. Its always MY TURN, MY TURN, Oh LOOK, MY TURN again! Sifu Lee was leaning towards Aiki based martial arts towards the end of his life by studying with Hapkido stylists.Street fighting? I know this.
I'm going to master aikido I'm starting at 12 yrs old I'll practice more tysm for the tutorial
Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this Lesson Mr Mike Jones
Very good
I remember I learned that technique back when I studied at the univiersity. I love aikido.
Well done 👍
The martial art themselves don't claim to be better than the other its the ego of the person who thinks that one is better than the other. As a martial artist you learn that there is a place for everything.
I have heard rumors that there is a man who aspires to become the first martial arts action star and singer. He is of Spanish descent. He wants to change entertainment and create opportunities for the Latin people and immigration. He likes Bruce Lee and wants to advance Jeet Kune Do into his own fighting art. Many say he is very fast when he strikes whether it be a kick or a punch. People also say he is a handsome guy with a big heart. He goes by the name of "Kenji Lucian".
who the hell gives a fuck??
Yo mama
This guy has a nice flow to his moves when using a submissive uke :)
He has to be Submissive or he will get hurt ,broken Arm,hand,Shoulder,he goes with the flow, so he does not go against the Technique which will hurt... I am in Aikido now and 5 years of Kenpo karate and kickboxed,, Way different Martial Art ,and complicated,..
In Aikido you work every class handto hand wth each other and the Black Belts also...
I think what is often missed in the west with any martial art is that application for real life is not meant to be used directly, it is a tangible example of physics. Like my old taiji teacher, he did not teach app, but allowed u to subdue him randomly at anytime you wished. Taiji is very simple so maybe it's biased, but the app never looked the same, just the principle. What needs to be learned is the sensitivity,, feeling and a manipulated instinct for move, auto memory .. Thoughts?
Nice san kyu
Great ,thnx for tech.
This omote variation forces the uke to move much more than the simple version
Nicolas Cage. Sankyo. You are now imagining Nic as one of these guys.
"Sankyo! I'm coming for you!"
Excelente técnica, justamente hoy me vi en la necesidad de aplicarla en combate real, combate q no llego ni a los 4 segundos...una cuadra caminando con el tipo sometido. No da oportunidad de nada al atacante.
you can see the rage in the eyes of the student
True
uke did it millions of times. I don't think that he was afraid :)
+SubjectDilemma the fun* XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Believe me it hurts..
Careful when you try these in a street fight as your attacker may resist but unless you're stronger than your attacker this would work easier than it would if your attacker is bigger/stronger than you.
right, as a 1st dan in AIKI JUJITSU. My instructor always repeated that we must soften the uke first before going into the technique. by softening means= stun the opponent with a punch or kick. all counters come with advancement of any martial arts. once counters are learn, they can usually get you out of trouble. in the dojo and on the street are two different things. crazy things happen on the street and a slip up could be fatal,
very nice. keep up the good work :)
yes there are in Aikido they call it atemi
Good
The Sankyo is a very Painful hold but Harmless.🤣😂😜
related to sword swinging technique.
The Techniques are from the Sword...That is how we are Taught..
lol dang you answered quick.Okay, I didn't see a comment saying you agreed just the argument, my bad.
at 2:10 this is one of the main moves for if i get jumped right cause theyll want to down slam there arm if i punch one of the other guys ganglings
so beautiful is Aikido,
Someone may have said this, but the series actually goes up to six, Rokyo (sixth form) being a straight arm bar of sorts.
he has all different videos
I love aikido box kravmaga shurikenjutsu
hes showing off too much he doesnt know that the other guy is hurting lol
MY GOD HAHAHAHAHHA
No, there is no punches, and kickes in Aikido. We use Aikido only for defense, but not offense.
Super
Could never get this in classes - they always make it look so easy
This is not the way that I've learned Sankyo, this looks more complicated
they have different ways to do different techniques
Full pages.
Excellent explanation, the video is structured well, maybe tori is a bit too impetuous and yet does not control to best its strength, it can be seen from the movements of uke, but the basics are strong enough, with time will become a good teacher.
Kung fu wont help you so much in a street fight tho. Aikido will.
6th Kyu Aikido student here. What are the other techniques that were demonstrated at the end of the clip? The ones where sankyo was used to make the opening.
Old question, but for others - first one looks like an applied form of kotegaeshi and second one I'd just call kokyu nage (I'm nidan in Iwama flavor).
2:09 what is this takedown called cause I wanna learn it but this vid is too fast for me to understand. The takedown where he put his arm over his head and bent down and put his arm out to flip him over
Yes that is true that they teach that but it all depends on the person taking it
It's like he's controling a puppet.
It is, Some mma is for mainly fighting in the ring, You dont teach there what you should do if 3 bastards wants to jump you on the street, Or how to handle someone with a knife or gun, Aikido has the focus on street fight, And some other mma as krav maga also has that. But then its also others who doesnt..
i really wanna learn it
Yes
The trick with Sankyo is speed...
Every time I see aikido I wonder where's aiki in technique. Is someone aware of it here?
Do nikyo with controle
These techniques are secrets which shouldn't be published to internet. O' sensey Marihey Uishiba learned these from Sakaku Takeda who believed to be the last samurai of the time and he showed each technique once. ( Sorry if there is a misspelling)
我觉得若能把做得很快的动作再用慢速度来演示也许会更吸引人。
Agreed.
however i feel some techniques arent as good on the street as others, but the same can be said for most martial arts really, martial artists arent stupid either, i feel i have to say this to all MMA fighters out there so they will lay off aikido, lets take seagal for example, hes experienced as we all know and im sure he knows what techniques work well and which ones dont work so well but you learn them anyway because 1 you never know and 2 its part of the art, you honor the art.
One of my favorites is “nikkyo”
I agreed. My teacher hasnt said anything about it, Because as i said earlyer up to swedishgrammar this is many years ago. But just because the title on the center where we study only say" Kung fu" Doesnt make it a fraud.
We call that tenkai kote hineri in Aikido Tomiki
Usually, samurai hits like that with his sword. If you are samurai yoursef, you might use this technique to avoid use any kind of weapn. In the real life, somebody with the knife could delifer you similar attack. If you are skillful and assertive enough, use this technique.
Its hard without live tutor :t too bad we dont have these in our country
Which is the name of the "beaten" guy?
Sorry to break it like this for most... but almost all eastern martial arts have their roots in kung fu...and i am a dedicated judoka and aikidoka. It still doesn't mean anything since the importance of this is mostly historical. Other than that, if one wants to learn how to beat up people, or repel frequent attackers effectively i suggest robert bussey's style or krav maga...
This looks like NY Aikikai
Eccellente...
Of course.
great video! Would love to interview this Sensei for my blog :) anyone has his contact?
Mike Jones was from New York ,Now he is in Colorado... Get Sensei.. Love his Videos..
i see it is samurai move.
