I am VERY excited about this change. A lot of weapons are going to get better, some about the same, and some worse. This was a needed change. I go through how we got here and 12 perks that got a lot better with the nerfs.

I found the new dropoff points for BOTH exotic primaries and trace rifles ALONGSIDE the HIPFIRE band to find the NEWWW damage dropoff.
How s the last word doing in the new metah??
Interested in seeing how this shapes up. More weapons will be competitively viable or so it seems.
But do you think any weapon archetypes will particularly suffer because of this change?

I just have to say, I really miss scopes. I still keep sunset rifles with scope options. They're a cool thing gameplay wise, from a pure visibility standpoint different people prefer different scopes. It's also just not realistic or believable at all that you just magically can't change scopes or sights a million years in the future.
I hope that now that range has been normalized, random scopes will become a thing again.
The other reason they pulled scopes from the game was because it was extra time modelling them all.
And we all know how Bungie feels about overdelivering.

I still have my Season of the Hunt Guiding Sight with Red Dot 2 MOA and Rifle Scope ST. It's pushing 500 tracked kills on it, and the Guiding Sight that is coming out HAS to be amazing to get me to drop it.
So, are all scopes across all types and subtypes just “normalized?” I ain’t digging 70% of these changes, tbh.

Keep away = new rangefinder imo
Keep Away is a pretty cracked perk for how little you have to do to activate it. One of my new favorite perks
Keep away makes the neutral game of every gun I’ve had it on feel much better. Def a perk I keep an eye out for!
Not really it only adds 1 meter of range on hc, while reducing the accuracy cone it’s decent but it doesn’t become the necessity rf was for rf

You're forgetting the roughly +30 reload it gives.
All of these things combined make it close to, and in some situations, a better perk than old rangefinder
@@christophercluster728Dude it's one of the most free ways to get bonus range *and* accuracy.
Just a reminder that Right Hook from season of plunder gives 10 range and 10 aim assist on melee hit, so Brigands Law and Blood Feud can also shine next season as they have some of the perks listed in this video as well.
Blood feud feels great to use for me. I adore it's little chug chug chug animation thing that most people hate

I crafted my Firefright from your video a while back, Poly, ricochet, fragile focus, elemental capacitor. I’m going to go for adagio instead. Rifle Scope ST was so nice! Extra +4 zoom a lot of the time.
Actually I got a Dynamic Target Lock Age Old Bond with Range MW and that gun hits at long ranges. It gave me a 5.63 Combat Efficiency in a sweaty lobby with guys that had Cloudstrikes, Snipers, and Immortals. It works. I just need to be in the right engagement with it. Was dueling Hand Cannons, Crimson and Pulses with it. So good.
The one thing I am actually slightly scared of is the fact that Exploding Payload might skyrocket like crazy.
A good ole Adept Fatebringer with EP / OS will absolutely slay next season.

Which means it will likely get nerfed. Which sucks because it's basically the only perk I use on handcannons and some scouts. Consistent in pvp and against champions.
@@mikethehunter5212 Ngl I doubt it, it's not like it'll be the end all / be all perk, since it only slightly increases their maximum kill potential, while rangefinder provided so much, that it was the clear 100% winner.
EP is strong, just more of a utility pick in PVE Overall I'd say

Killing Wind is now the only perk that increases your range with a multiplicative modifier, right? Gives you 20 range and a +5% damage falloff distance. One of the best perks in the game getting even more valuable
Looking forward to the amount of viable options increasing, there were some weapons I wouldn't even touch before because of their low zoom like Forensic Nightmare or Synchronic Roulette, but now with the zoom changes some of the more mid-tier options like this have some breathing room now.
Like sure Shayura's Wrath is better in every way statwise, but Forensic is still an SMG that's craftable with Killclip that everyone has access to through Witch Queen, making it a much more accessible baseline.
This balance patch has made so many perks that were sleeper picks into real contenders it’s unreal. It’s going to be so much more about what feels right to the player rather than using one thing to win, and that is such a good thing for the game overall. I know there is lot of bad things Bungie needs to fix, but this is definitely a win.

I checked my vault when the changes were announced and found a “Last breath” auto from the prophecy dungeon with KW and Adagio. Its already a good gun but I think it might just slap everything after the changes go live.

My adept Hung Jury with box breathing just started looking a lot better.
Really glad I saved an adept Exalted Truth with Killing Wind / Encore. Max or near max stats across the board with just one kill needed.
Still think RF will be a go to perk. The benefits it gives will still out weigh most perks. It will def open up more options, but I wouldn’t be surprised if players go back to their RF rolls after a couple weeks.
Rangefinder will likely still be the premier perk on any gun that gets it, extra aim assist distance, accuracy, and less recoil on the same perk is still going to be extremely strong
people are getting misinformed please stop spreading misinformation. Rangefinder ALREADY DOES THIS. We dont know what it is gonna do after the zoom changes bungie HAS NOT SAID
@@max73916 obviously Rangefinder already does this, but Bungie hasn’t said they’re changing Rangefinder at all, just that they’re decoupling zoom from Rangefinder. In that case it’s perfectly safe to assume that Rangefinder will still do all the things I mentioned, so I’m not sure what you’re on about

I'm upset that you didn't mention my favorite auto with killing wind adagio "Last Breath" from the prophecy dungeon.
That auto can get 100 range with both perks active if you spec it into range fully
this exact firefright is my main weapon for awhile now and i have been laughing seeing these changes, its already amazing in this sandbox

Any weapon like a pulse or auto rifle need to receive more flinch in general since its easier to land shots without affecting TTK much.
Best example, hand cannons you miss 1 bullet your TTK drops dramatically.
So, for someone who's only ok at Crucible and definitely isn't carefully measuring optimal engagement distances or hitting optimal TTK, do existing god rolls with Rangefinder now just get sharded? Or is it worth keeping some of them around to test with or enjoy the other aspects of Rangefinder that may be useful? Some are easy calls for me to keep (I love my Tap the Trigger / Rangefinder Liminal Vigil, and I imagine I still will after this), but others I kept in my vault because Rangefinder was part of the god roll, and I'm not sure if I can just shard those now or wait to try everything out. (I'm always looking for ways to slim down my vault around this time of the season.)
Really didn’t wanna have to think about what to keep and what to shard going into the new season, CoolGuy always comes in clutch when I can’t form my own opinions

Still have the OG braytech werewolf in my vault. 94 range base with zen moment and multi kill clip? Might put that on for a spin next sandbox see how it feels. 🤔
If you have the breytech wear wolf that you can pull from collections, the one with zen moment and multikill clip, you will probably have the best 450 in the game. Base has 94 range, enhanced scope that highlights enemies, clean looking sights, and with one kill, you can up the ttk.. zen moment got a huge buff, and this makes the weapon a absolute beast. No flinch, high range, clean scope, and damage perk buff with kills. But not everyone with have it
so what does range finder still do besides increase zoom?
I got my firefright ready and i love adagio it’s a really good perfect on auto rifles
3:30 Not sure if it was an article or Mercules talking about it, but they've mentioned that the range stat on auto rifles has little impact on their effective range and that it's zoom that makes all of the difference on them.
That's why there's such a disparity between the two autos in you example.
I wonder if that's something they flip with this change.

Worth noting the artifact gives some buffs to rapid hits with scout rifles. Hung jury might be a menace
Great video as always, but I disagree about the Zoom changes. It's really sad to see Zoom go away in terms of being tied in with range. It actually offered a really cool way to balance extra range by essentially making the gun harder to use up close. Now extra zoom will just pretty much always be universally bad because there's no weapon class in which more than it's base zoom is required to accurate hit/track your target in it's intended range.
The problem is it's a delicate thing and needed to be handled with care. It required having the developers have some common sense and awareness about what was happening with their game. It should be obvious you can't have buffed zoom/RF on certain weapon archetypes as especially on the already lower zoom range weapons (SMGs in particular) the downsides of having the extra zoom are less apparent/don't exist. And sure AR's are cool now but they could have just buffed them under the old system as well so that doesn't really count.

Targeted Redaction can hit 100 range with Well Rounded and Keep Away very easily. It's going to be a very great pick for dueling pretty much no matter the map
With the range compression happening, I wonder how will my igneous hammer with opening shot and encore will feel.

Totally off topic, but does Stay Frosty not have the WORST muzzle flash of all time? I literally shot it once and said, nope, never again. It popping up in the video, I knew it was stay frosty instantly from that muzzle flash.

Got a False Promises from either Banshee or Xur a little while back with 95 range, stability masterwork, Dynamic Sway Reduction and Zen Moment. It’s a long range laser beam now so god knows how good it’s gonna be next week.

Holy shit, given that on mnk low zoom weapons are vastly superior at its intended ranges than high zoom (better aa cone, better tracking really close range) cold denial is going to be just insane, were talking high impact pulse rifle with hc zoom unaffected by the range that sounds insane ngl O.O like wtf hows that not the most op weapon ever.
They need to rework how HCs take flinch. Make stability actually matter on mouse and keyboard.
