I owned two Alpines when I first started driving ... hard to keep them running but found several in junkyards ... 50 years ago, great memories ... would buy Mike's blue "Alpie" in a heartbeat!!
At age 15 my dad gave me his ‘63 Alpine. A life changing event.

My 2cnd car in 1977 was a 61 Alpine, paid $100.00, bought a snap on hardtop $60.00 at Genes sport car parts on Scott rd Surrey BC.
My Dad was dockmaster at Sterling shipyards in Vancouver,spray painted it on the decks late at night. What great memories
Lots of fun in my friends alpine,the team consisted of MGA, TR6, Fiat x1/9, and the Alpine ,,,,it’s was the best high school auto shop years….
I thought the block looked like my 62 hillman minx lump, very very reliable engine and gearbox.

Actually, Mike, the power comes from the heat NOT being bled out of the exhaust stream, through the header material itself, thereby speeding up the gases as they exit the system, improving scavenging.
Pretty sure Harry Weslake pioneered gas-flowing and porting heads, but that was long after the little Alpine was first built.
Ed China is the star of the show, not sure why they have that hysterical Alan Titmarsh-lookalike in this program.

Do you have any understanding of just how stupid that makes you look? He/she is not right, any polishing and porting will improve performance, doing what he/she said simply maximises any possible benefits, but not doing it is certainly not a total waste of time. Furthermore, we do not know if this was or was not done, since more was done to the car and engine than is shown in the video. So basically we have but one main conclusion, which is that your level of professional outrage is significantly higher than your intellect. But then again, my goldfish's level of professional outrage is higher than your intellect, so that is not really a surprise.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbot" in German. :-//(((

Chinas boss Darth Xi told all politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic, airplanes or combustion based industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China....
